Invoke web service with DTO

Hey guys,
I am quite new in using BPEL. My first test worked fine, but know I have an issue, which I can not solve. Invoking web services with a basic return value is no problem. I could also you a dto object including some basic variables in order to invoke the web service without having problems.
But when I have a dto object as return value, I get the following exception.
Could someone give me a hint to fix my problem...that would be great!
Thanks alot!
Sven

• Invoking web service with customized SOAP Header

Hi,
how can I invoke web services from my BPEL process with additional elements in the SOAP Header?
Regards,
Piotr

I don't know if I completely understand your question, but here is an attempt at and answer.
It place variables in the SOAP Header open the invoke popup, click on the Adapters tab and select the variable that you would like to add into the SOAP header.
I really hope that helps.

I've gotten past the original error by importing the security certificate of the Web service into my keystore/truststore. I'm also running the process on SOA 10.1.3.1.0. Now when I invoke the Web service from the BPEL process I get this error:

javax.xml.soap.SOAPException: Bad response: 403 Forbidden
I've tried passing the credentials every way I can -- partner link properties, Oracle Web Services Manager, whatever -- and still get the same error. I would expect to see a 401 error for problems with credentials, not a 403.
Any suggestions?

Hello --
I am trying to test calling a Web service utilizing PKI-based authentication from BPEL running under the 10.1.2.0.2 Process Manager. When I access the service from a browser I am prompted for Username and Password the first time. When I attempt to access it from BPEL I receive this error:

Hi,
there are a lot of option to make plsql web services .
First you can stay with jdev 10.1.3
Use the xmldb servlets
use jdev 11g tp4 to create plsql ws and upgrade to jdev 11g production
And I think in the next release of jdev it will be back , there are more options which disappeared like the adf bc sdo ws or jmx datacontrol etc.
thanks Edwin

• Calling Web Service with SOAP header from BPEL

Hi,
I am calling a web service (with header information) from BPEL. In the Invoke activity, i created a header variable to pass the header information.
But, when i test the BPEL service, invoke activity fails because the header information is not being passed.

As said, no header information is visible in the Invoke activity.
Please provide help for the above issue.

Hello Patrick,
Thanks for the response. I am using normal assign activity to assign values to the header variable as shown below. HeadMT is the header variable which is passed in the invoke activity.

• "Error while parsing SOAP XML payload: no element found" received when invoking Web Service

Running PB 12.1 Build 7000. Using Easysoap. Error ""Error while parsing SOAP XML payload: no element found" received when invoking Web Service". This error does not appear to be coming from the application code. Noticed that there were some erroneous characters showing up within the header portion of the XML ("&Quot;"). Not sure where these are coming from. When I do a find within the PB code for """" it gets located within two objects, whereas they both reference a "temp_xml_letter". Not sure where or what temp_xml_letter resides??? The developer of this is no longer with us and my exposure to WSDL and Web Services is rather limited. Need to get this resolved...please.
This is the result of the search. Notice the extraneous characters ("""):

Maybe "extraneous" is an incorrect term. Apparantly, based upon the writeup within Wiki, the parser I am using does not interpret the """? How do I find which parser is being utilized and how to control it?

If the document is read by an XML parser that does read external entities, then the five built-in XML character entities can safely be used. • Weblogic - a web service with java.lang.Object parameter

hi all,
i'm creating a web service with a java.lang.Object parameter.
my question is as follows:
when a client calls the web service, how to i get the soap message object and convert it to soap message string using the parameter?
thanks,
alex

Here's some code from one of the Axis samples, this shows the basic process of making a call:
package samples.message;
import org.apache.axis.client.Service;
import org.apache.axis.client.Call;
import org.apache.axis.message.SOAPBodyElement;
import org.apache.axis.utils.Options;
import org.apache.axis.utils.XMLUtils;
import org.w3c.dom.Element;
import java.net.URL;
import java.util.Vector;
public class TestMsg {
public String doit(String[] args) throws Exception {
Options opts = new Options(args);
opts.setDefaultURL("http://localhost:8080/axis/services/MessageService");
Service service = new Service();
Call call = (Call) service.createCall();
call.setTargetEndpointAddress( new URL(opts.getURL()) );
SOAPBodyElement[] input = new SOAPBodyElement[2];
input[0] = new SOAPBodyElement(XMLUtils.StringToElement("urn:foo",
"e1", "Hello"));
input[1] = new SOAPBodyElement(XMLUtils.StringToElement("urn:foo",
"e1", "World"));
Vector elems = (Vector) call.invoke( input );
SOAPBodyElement elem = null ;
Element e = null ;
elem = (SOAPBodyElement) elems.get(0);
e = elem.getAsDOM();
String str = "Res elem[0]=" + XMLUtils.ElementToString(e);
elem = (SOAPBodyElement) elems.get(1);
e = elem.getAsDOM();
str = str + "Res elem[1]=" + XMLUtils.ElementToString(e);
return( str );
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
String res = (new TestMsg()).doit(args);
System.out.println(res);

• Web Service - Invoke Web Service not trapping errors

Greetings All:
I am having an issue trying to trap errors coming out of the Invoke Web Service service.
I have a Fault Route set up for SYSTEM EXCEPTION, and direct it to an ExecuteScript service.
If the process I am developing fails, it appears to leave the web service "open". The next time the process is invoked, it will fail on the Web Service call.
When my process fails, this failure route is never taken.
I do not know why the initial failure does not "clean-up" after itself.
I also do not know why the Web Service call does not follow the failure route.
This is a turnkey 8.2 install on Windows Server 2003 running JBoss.
Any assistance on how to overcome these problems would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Mark
My process dies with the following ending up in the system log:

• Calling Web Service with Flex 3.0 from WAS 6.40 and WAS 7.0

I have followed Axel Kratel's tutorial from
"How to Develop Flex Applications that Invoke Web Services" and tested it against a WAS 6.40 and a WAS
7.00.
In both cases, I get in the fault handler: faultCode="Channel.Security.Error".
Could you tell for which systems it is supported?
The error might have to do with crossdomain.xml file??
Thanks for your insight!
Tanguy Mezzano
PS: I am testing it through a VPN, through a proxy, and with Basic Authentication.

tanguy,
In most cases it has to be the crossdomain.xml file.
One way to check it out ...
I use flexbuilder - if I run the application within flexbuilder then the application runs fine - i.e I execute the application from flexbuilder.
However if I compile the same as an SWF and run the SWF through my browser I get the security error.
You might want to also give the development environment you are using - are you using the SDK ??
Also since you are working on VPN- just check if you are able to get the WSDL for your web service through the browser - we have a problem of having to execute the web service locally to check the same- I get an error page ( URL ending in ssocntl... or something to do with SSO ... )

• Web services with servicegen i Weblogic 7

I am trying to create web services with Weblogic's tool servicegen and
ANT. It works great until I have a web service method that return a PK
class of an EJB. I get the error "Error: bean property and public
field found with the same name: id" (full stacktrace below). After
some investigating I found out that it was my PK class that was the
bad guy. But my PK class MUST have the field "id" public, otherwise
ejbc complains...
Am I doing anything wrong or does anyone have a solution?

Web services can only be published to BEA if you install Apache SOAP on BEA and use the Apache SOAP option of JDeveloper. The J2EE Web Services implementation framework is specific to Oracle9iAS.
The PL/SQL Web Services server implementation is based on the J2EE Web Services option and as a result is not really portable to BEA.
To publish a PL/SQL Web service on BEA with JDeveloper you would have to write the Java wrapper code to invoke the stored procedure using standard JDBC and then publish that Java class as a Web service using Apache SOAP. Then if you had Apache SOAP installed on BEA you would be set.
Portability of Web services implementations is a big feature coming with JAX-RPC - currently what most vendors have is interoperability between implementations because of things like SOAPBuilders and WS-I. When JAX-RPC becomes part of J2EE 1.4 roughly in June and vendors start putting out implementations on it you should get closer to portability.
In the meantime, the easiest way to get portability is to use the same SOAP server on both servers - Apache SOAP is a good example.
Hope this helps.

• Web Service with database

Dear All,
I'm new to java web service. Can anyone guide me on how to setup the environment to start developing my web service?
I need to create a web service with login function. What client is more easy for me to call login service?

You can download Java Web Services Developer Pack 1.3 and tutorial at http://java.sun.com/webservices.
The Java Web Services Developer Pack (Java WSDP) is a free integrated toolkit you can use to build, test and deploy XML applications, Web services, and Web applications with the latest Web service technologies and standards implementations. The tutorial has numerous code examples to get you started on develop, deploy and invoke your own web service using JAX-RPC. You can use the environment provided by tutorial to start developing your web service.
Thanks,
