IOS 5.1 bug or new iPad (3) faulty?

Hi everyone,
I just got new iPad (iPad 3rd generation and iOS5.1) and this is my first iPad ever. I was reading Apple iOS 5 manual (downloaded from Apple support site).
Practicing while reading ... when I reached to this point: the manual says double tap on Home button, multitasking bar shows up, flip to the left to see music controls, also Screen Orientation Lock on far left.
I did that, also got music controls, but on the far left, it was a volume control button, clicked on that button, it showed a speaker crossed out... please see acttached picture.
2 problems here:
1. It's not Screen Orientation Lock on far left of multitasking bar, it's a Volume control button.
2. click on that button will show a speaker crossed out ... but nothing happened, screen not locked, volume not muted.
Picture attached is screen capture (Press Wake/Sleep + Home button at the same time), upper part shows the manual that I was reading, bottom part is the multitasking bar.
Is that a bug of the iOS 5.1 or iPad unit fault? Please let me know so that I can return it right away?

There nothing wrong with your iPad, and it is not a bug. You can switch the function of that control and the side switch in Settings > General > Use Side Switch to. Whatever you set the side switch to, the control picks up the other.

What is wrong with wifi after iOS 6 update on the new iPad ?

Since I upgraded to iOS 6 my iPad ***** at connecting to Wi- Fi. I have been using iPads since the original launch and I currently own the 3rd gen iPad. Since the upgrade to iOS 6.0 the performance of Wi-Fi is terrible. My iPad often cannot find networks that were working less an hour earlier. The only resolution to this issue that i have found is to consistent is to power off the iPad for a few minutes and try again. Sometime I have to do this 3-4 times to get Wi-Fi working again. I have seen other reports of similar problems in web forums and in tech news. What is Apple doing to resolve these issues? What is the expected timeline for a resolution?

This is an iPad user to user forum and Apple doesn't read. So we have no way of knowing when an update to iOS 6 will be released.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Brand new iPad Air and I have downloaded he new software but it won't install it. It says I am not connected to the internet so can't install it but I am connected and can use the internet on safari. Help!

my girlfriend got a new ipad for apple but it freezes so she called apple and reported and they said the where going to send her a new one but the never asked her to send the old one back to them .so those apple realy change faulty products for new products or is she lieing to me .

More than likely, when the new one arrives, there will be a shipping label to return the defective device. To get the new device, she more than likely had to provide credit card information. If the defective device is not returned within a certain time frame, they will charge the credit card for the cost of the device.
Apple does not let people keep defective devices; they collect them, repair them, and have them ready to sell or provide to others as refurbished devices.

How do I Restore from iCloud on new iPad that hasn't been upgraded to IOS 7.0.3. New iPad is at 6.1.3. And all my backups are iOS 6.1.3.

You cannot Restore an iOS 7 Backup on to a Device running iOS 6...
Update your Device to iOS 7 and then Restore from Backup.

I have a new Ipad Air and have noticed everytime I open the screen the charge has reduced. over night it dropped from 58% to below 10 with a low battery warning.
The screen was asleep, cellular switched off, Bluetooth on for the keyboard. all setting infact the same as my last model which performed excellently.

New Ipad crop image not working well

I have my new Ipad and I save some images thru facebook. However, when i crop the image and save, it save as garbage image but no issue when i crop and save the photo which I taken. Anyone have come across such issue ? Thanks !

I'm using photo app from iPad. It seems like if you save the picture as image from facebook web site (not the facebook app from iPad) it will hit by this issue. However, iPad2 work well for both channel (app and web site facebook). Btw, i have 2 iPad at home each with difference model.
I have noticed if the photo taken by myself or picture save as photo from facebook for both channel it will work well. Is this a bug on new iPad ?
