Ios 7 changes custom ringtone to opening by itself

Hi, I don`t know what to do anymore.... I had set a custom ringtone to some of my contacts and suddenly the phone changed it by itself to "opening" ringtone. After changing it and saving, it "jumps" from my custom one to the "openin" back. I have done several Restore actions, turned off iCloud and lot of other actions,  but some contacts still have a custom ringtone, but some of them the phone changes by itself. It went so far, that its not always the "opening" ringtone, but sometime its also "apex". It drives me nuts.... :-/ Is there anybody who has a similar issue....?

Hoping after upgrade to IOS 7.1.2 the problem solved... it still persist....
Is it a hardware problem?

Anyone else experiencing this issue? And is there a solution or work around?

If your ISP is Comcast, read on....
I had similar problems with both my iphone and ipad when using my wifi, but not when using cellular.  Turned out to be a Comcast issue with their implementation of DNSSEC validation. You can see my full explanation on my blog at http://blog.trif.com/?p=295.  The site is being blocked by Comcast because the Microsoft portal does not meet DNSSEC validation rules.  This applies to Comcast DNS Servers 75.75.75.75 and 75.75.75.76.

  • How to make custom ringtones in iOS 5.1

How to make custom ringtones in iOS 5.1.
I was on iOS 4.3 before and i used to create the AAC version and then change the file extension & that file would come up in the Rimtones in iTunes, After the iOS 5.1 i m unable to add the custom ringtones to my iPhone from iTunes.

Was having this problem too.  Discoverd that that there is a "tones" top menu next to "music" under your iphone settings.  I'm not sure if this is new or not (I am a new iphone owner), but if you check on sync tones they will download.

  • Problems with custom ringtone syncing after iOS update

I recently updated the iOS to the latest version and it wiped out my custom ringtones.
I resynced them but it only loaded three onto my phone.
I then tried to delete them but when I synced again they were still there.
I manually deleted the ringtones folder on the phone using ifunbox and they finally were deleted.
Then when I tried to syc my ringtones back it only synced three (different three).
Dragging and dropping isn't doing anything.

Hello is anyone from Adobe out there? Is anyone from Adobe monitoring the forum? The 1.6 update has stopped the app from crashing when you were trying the sync function to the creative cloud.
However, the sync function is not working as it did in the past. If you make a change in an already existing file in the Photoshop touch app and save it, the sync to the creative cloud results in an explanation point instead of a check to the left of the filename. Toggling the sync button on and off doesn't change the exclamation point to a check. The blue line goes across the file as it normally would when syncing but the explanation point remains. As a result, the changed file is not being synced with the creative cloud.
I am not sure of the exact amount of time it takes, I am guessing about 24 hours. After about 24 hours when you do a sync, the file that had the explanation point to the left of it does change to a checkmark. However, you now have two files. One that reflects the change and has the word conflicted now added to the file name. As well as a file with the same name that doesn't reflect the change and no conflicted added to its file name.
For me at least the sync function no longer causes the Photoshop touch app to crash. However, the 1.6 update also doesn't sync properly to the creative cloud.
Making a change to a file in the Photoshop touch app and trying to sync it shouldn't result in the file not being synced or in a conflicted file. Could someone please help me in regard to this issue.

  • IPhone 3GS iOS 4.1 Update No Custom Ringtones

    Hi Everyone!
I just upgraded my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.1 and now I can no longer set customized ringtones for individual users. At first, my phone had lost all my contacts (which are synced to an Exchange server). When I restored my contacts I noticed that I can no longer have custom ringtones for individual contacts. There's no option there any more. Just the number, a "notes" section. Anyone else have this problem?

For some reason in iOS 4.1 the option to add a ringtone was removed from the main view of an individual contact. Now the only way to assign one is via the Edit option, which I find to be a pain! I liked it in iOS 2.x and 3.x that you could quickly assign ringtones WITHOUT having to tap edit and scroll down.
Once the ringtone has been added, THEN it does show up and is changeable without having to tap Edit on the contact you assigned one too.
    Definitely a step backwards!
I would also love the ability (been asking since day one) to assign a ringtone to a GROUP of contacts. Such a pain doing them one by one and if you ever need to turn contact syncing off and on for MobileMe then you lose all your ringtone assignments.

  • IOS 6 Custom Ringtones for 3rd party apps such as Talkatone

Will iOS 6 ever allow an app such as talkatone or google voice to allow custom ringtones? Does anyone know??
Since they upgraded from iOS 5 to 6 that feature is no longer available. It is quite a bummer. Please put it on again Apple!

You can't use custom ringtones for Talkatone.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.3 or later. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

  • I do not have a custom ringtone folder in my iphone 5.  I have gone to settings ringtones and there is no folder. In iTunes I have created the file and changed to M4r.  The song is less than 20 seconds.  I have synced my iPhone with iTunes but no folder.

How do I make a folder in my Iphone 5 for custom ringtones?
I have made it a m4r file that is less than 30 sec. Synced phone with the latest version of iTunes.  They show up in itunes as custom ringtones but there is no folder on my iPhone 5. Thanks!!!

Yes, it has to be smaller than 35 seconds.
    Enjoy your ringtone.

  • Custom Ringtones Will Not Sync to iPhone 4s with Latest iOS

I have been using a custome ringtone on my iPhone 4s for about a year and a half now without an issue.  Today, I went to add another and when I went to sync it to the phone, It showed up in iTunes (under the device) grayed out, with a dotted circle next to it and it does not show up in the phone.  Just to try something, I deleted my original ringtone and the new one from iTunes, then imported them both back into the library.  I tried to sync again and neither show up in iTunes, under the device nor the phone.
What can I do to fix this?

    More information...
In order for me to get this to do anything at all, I had to drag the file from the Tones folder in the Library to the phone.  I just did this with both of my ringtones and my original is now back on the phone, but the new one is still grayed out in iTunes in the Tones folder under the device with the dotted circle next to it.
    HELP!!!

  • My custom ringtones on iOS8 did not transfer

My custom ringtones did not transfer to my new iPhone6.  What happen and how do I recover them.  I noticed the iOS8.0.2 update stated something about Ringtones.  I also don't see them in my iTunes but still have them in my previous iPhone5S.  How do I transfer them between the two devices?

Y'know, this is an inSANE process.  Apple should be ashamed of themselves for doing this.
It's possible - but it's hardly 'intuitive'....as Apple so euphemistically likes to portray their software as being...
In macro terms, you have to:
1 - import whatever track or mp3 you want to make your ring tone into Garageband...on your laptop....as a track.
2 - edit it to whatever length you want it to be in GB.
3 - 'Share' it as a Ringtone-to-iTunes from GB to iTunes.
4 - Plug your iPhone into your laptop.
5 - Somehow, some way, locate the stupid track as a 'Tone' in iTunes...which really isn't intuitive at all.  Good luck on this step.
6 - Click and hold on that track to force iTunes into opening up the device list on the left (this is REALLY ridiculously UNintuitive)
7 - Drag and drop the track to the iPhone device that has now magically appeared from the abyss on the left. You will get ZERO indication that it actually happened.  I guess they think you should trust them that it happened.
8 - Knock on wood and go to your phone's Settings; Sounds: Ringtone...and hope like heck the title of whatever track you've babysat throughout the process somehow miraculously shows up under "Ringtones" - and click on it.  A checkmark will appear if you did it right.
Reaching back to my Android memories, the steps involved with it were:
    1 - Music
    2- Highlight track
3 - Click on settings button
4 - Choose 'Set as Ringtone'
I love many things about Apple, but iOS isn't one of them.  It pretty much stinks.

  • My custom ringtones keep disappearing

I have set custom ringtones (for certain contacts) in my iPhone 6+.  All the ringtones were downloaded from iTunes.  I set a custom ringtone on the phone, but later the ringtone changes to the "opening" tone in place of all my custom tones.  It only does this for custom tones, not those set to the phone's default ring.
I've noticed that it happens after I access a contact on my iMac.  If I use only the iPhone to to view contact information, the custom tone stays there.  But if I access a contact on the iMac, then go back to the iPhone, once again the ringtone is the one called "Opening."
I have synced the phone with iTunes on the computer, and the ringtones are in my iTunes library.
On a related note, the Contacts app on my iMac will not allow me to set ringtones for a contact.  Again, the ringtones are there in iTunes, I just cannot use them.
    Any suggestions?

The exact same thing happens to me. Twice I downloaded a minions ringtone and text tone, and twice it vanished.... I am not wasting any more money to feed these people, as they dont seem to care that they are taking your money each time. WHAT THE **** IS HAPPENING APPLE? WHY ARE OUR TONES DISAPPEARING? PLEASE ANSWER.....
I have had to resort back to the old car claxon horn .... (yawn)

  • Can't import custom ringtones

    Hello there,
I just updated my iTunes to the latest 10.6 version, iPhone4(5.1.1), currently using Windows 7. Now I can't drag and drop custom ringtones/text tones I want, although I was able to before. I follow the usual change from mp3 to m4r, and that usually gets me the + sign the add to the ringtone section of iTunes, but now instead of a + sign, all it says is "link" and if I try and drag my file, nothing actually happens. I can't even play the .m4r version in iTunes either-- it opens up, but nothing happens. The file is also under 30 seconds (only 3 seconds long). I haven't changed my settings, so I'm wondering what's going on now.
I can drop the mp3 file into iTunes though and that works perfectly, just not the m4r for text tones...

I actually downloaded the link through an email I got.
I do have the Tones library in addition to other custom ringtones I have. It still only shows up as "Link" instead of a "+" sign.

  • Setting custom ringtone in iPhone

    Hi,
I am using a iPhone 4S. I truely believe Apple iPhone is a great technology built by experts.
In spite of, being a great Smart phone, why the setting of custom ringtone, which is very basic feature in any kind of phone, is so complicated?
Can't this be made easier in upcoming releases of iOS?
For setting a ringtone, we have to shorten the length of the song, then create an AAC version. Then change the extension of the file from m4a to m4r...etc...etc
    Waiting for a reply...
    Regards,
    Sourav

  • How to move iPhone contact list with custom ringtones to OS X server Contacts?

I have recently setup a new Mac Pro, Mid 2012, running Mavericks OS X Server.  I was previously syncing through iTunes on Snow Leopard, 10.6...
Due to the changes in Mavericks WRT iTunes address book syncing, I want to setup Contacts in Server, as I do not want to use iCloud. I tried using the Address Book sync on my MacBook Pro, but that doesn't appear to save any custom ringtone data. I setup Contacts in Server & I moved the current address book to Mavericks, but dragging the contacts into the Server list in Contacts generates warnings, "Some contacts could not be copied to the server"  and then sometimes starts duplicating the groups and contacts. The system log has some errors that seem related (system & user munged):

    So the question is:
How to does one move or import iPhone contact list with custom ringtones to OS X server Contacts? ... and will Contacts save/preserve the ringtone settings?
    Thanks

lsof is the standard tool for listing open files, although I'm not quite sure it'll do what you want.
It will list every open file used by every process on the machine, including many you don't expect. I don't know how it will present files opened by network users - whether they'll appear as owned by the file sharing process or not at all. Definitely one to try.

  • Custom ringtones on N9

How do I set a custom mp3 file as a ringtone? When I select "my music" from the ringtone menu, it only shows the files that came with the phone, but none that I copied to the device.

It's a bit of a work arround, but I've managed to suss how to install and set all my custom ringtones and notifications on my N9 , I'm sure someone will find an easier way, but this works and isn't hard to do
Whilst in settings>Sounds and vibrations>you select the tone you want to change, then scroll to the top, and chose Select from My music and that's it !
However, you do of course, have to have the tones on the phone, I have all mine saved on my PC anyway, but many can be found on the web, I use the Tehkseven website to get mine ( http://www.tehkseven.net/ringtone/nokia-ringtones.html ) , but any mp3 you want to use should work, simply down load to PC and make sure they have a title you can remember or change there name to something you can remember.
Once you have all the tones you want, connect the N9 to the PC in Use as mass storage, so you can view files and folders and one of the folders will be Music (create one if it's not there, it's a good place to drag and drop all your music !!) open the folder and create a new one entitled 'Tones' and drag and drop the mp3's you want to use into it !
Now it appears the N9 offers you the tracks you listen to most often as ringtones so here is the awkward bit, Safely disconnect the phone from the PC , go to music in your application menu and select albums, there will be one called Unknown, select it ,chose the first tone, and let the full 'album' play at least 5 times, I tried once and non of the tones were available to me, so I had to make them show up in the list by playing them a few times, as a rintone should only be a few seconds, this doesn't take too long, but is a bit of a pain.
Now once you can go into your settings and use search to find the tones you want for Ringtone, Mail, Calendar etc set them all up and exit. I then rebooted the phone , but don't know if this is essential or not.
Now the bit that keeps your N9 and Music neat and tidy  Connect the N9 to your PC again, go to your Music folder, open it,scroll to 'Tones' and right click, select Properties, and change to hidden and chose all files. Disconnect safely again, re-boot (Turn on and off) for a second time and let the phone start again, go to your music in the applications page, select Albums and the 'Unknown Album' has dissapeared, but all your tones are still working fine
I know it's a bit of effort, but I really like my own alert tones and also a neat and tidy music player and this DOES work, hope it helps, and if it does, someone please mark it as a solution so others can find it !!
    Thanks
