Ios 7 does not update on my ipod touch?

ios 7 does not appear on my ipod touch???

As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

Brand new computer with Windows 8.1 will not sync to iPod Classic 120G.  Windows does not recognize anything but iPod Touch?  Is there a simple solution.  Diagnostics have run and failed to point to a fix.

Might be worth tearing down the whole iTunes install and starting over...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

Place the iPod in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

  • HT201210 Have not updated OS in iPod touch. Have OS 2.2.1. Get error message "Joe's iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occured [-1].

Have not updated OS in iPod touch. Currently have OS 2.2.1. When trying to update to iOS 4.2, I get an error message "Joe's iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occured [-1]." Please help...

That often indicates a hardware problem with the iPod, but it can also be caused by security software blocking access to the update. Try this article and see if that helps:

If not, then your iPod may be defective and will need replacement. Apple still offers replacement pricing for old iPods, but it might be more cost-effective to put the money toward a new iPod touch. You'd pay a minimum of $99 US for a replacement, but you can get a refurbished 8GB 2010 model for $149 US.

  • Should I keep doing future updates to my ipod touch?

    Dear Apple Support,
I've always been skeptic about this random ipod touch software updates. I don't even have count of how many times I have actually uodated my ipod. My point is that I updated my ipod today, January 19, 2012,  and for the second time it erased all my apps and music. While doing the update it said all my music, pictures, apps, etc was being backup but it didn't. Where I stand right now I think it is really unfair that apple is providing updates that are causing for us to loose rather than to gain. I know this message won't make a difference because I won't get back all my 3000 songs. Apple may be a really presticious brand to own but not as efficient as I thought it would be.
                        Sincerely,
                        Stephanie Prado

You should not be losing your data with an IOS update.  Perhaps if you give us a bit more information, we can determine what's happening.
Is your backup on your computer or iCloud?
Was everything erased from the computer's iTunes library?
Arey you managing your iPad contents manually?
Anything else that you can think of?

  • After upgrading to Lion , itunes does not recognize my ipad, ipod touch anymore.

Yesterday I updated to Mac OSC Lion on my original Intel Macbook (the first Aluminum Macbook) with 4GB RAM.
Today I had a run in with my ipad and ipod touch, both of whom are not being recognized by itunes anymore.
My ipod shuffle and classic are still being recognised and do sync.
I have read through the support pages and annoyingly even factory-reset my ipad, which cannot be used anymore due
to itunes not recognizing the device !
System profiler does show either ipod or ipad being connected to the usb port. Resetting of the devices did not help (see above)
Any clues to this inconsistent behaviour differentiating between classic ipods and ipod touch/ipad ?
    js.

update: It seems like the XCode update did interfere with itunes. I reran the XCode install this time with itunes not running. This seems to update all necessary drivers and Library items correctly.
After this IPad and IPod touch were working fine again.

itunes does not recognize ipod touch 5th generation. It shows up as a camera under my computer.

I had the same problem. My new ipod touch 5th generation was not recognized by iTunes.  I checked the Apple Support solutions and the first step they recommended was to update iTunes to the latest version.  I did just that it now it all works beautifully.  I am using Windows 7.

I'm trying to get the iOS 5 or 6 update to my ipod touch version 4.2.1
My ipod says it's up to date but I can't get my netflix app to load becuse it says I need the iOS 5 software
Does this mean that my Ipod touch is no longer any good???
    Any help is appreciated, thanks!
    Candice

I used to be able to get Netflix and other apps on my ipod but since they have been upgraded to ios 5 + I can no longer get them. "
You updated your Netflix app without seeing if the new version was compatible with your ios version. Had you not updated, then you could still be using it.
" So I gather by your response and other similar questions/answers that I am out of luck now."
    Yes.
