IOS 7 is slow on my iphone 4, help!!!

I downloaded io7 on my iphone 4, so slow, disabled cloud docs. makes me want to get rid of my phone. there must be a fix, I cant be the only one with this issue.

My iPhone 4 was also slowwwww, at first.
Then I went in and opened up the stock apps like settings, email, safari, contacts, etc, closed them all down and performed a hard reset and it is running great ever since the update on 9/18/13.

No panoramic on iPhone 3GS. YMMV but my iPhone 3GS hasn't run this smoothly since iOS 3. Huge surprise.

IOS 5 VERY Slow Internet on iPhone 4

Ever since upgrade, non-wifi internet connection is very slow and often times out. This happens even with 4 bars.
I've tried resetting. This was never an issue prior to upgrading. I need non wifi internet for work and this *****!

I've had this exact same problem.
I've done the following things to try to fix it:
*Clear Safari Cookies, history and cache
*delete unused apps
*Hard Reset
*Reset Network settings
*Double Hard Reset
When I did a speed test twice in a row I got:
1. 0.00 Download 0.66 Upload
2. 1.4 Download 0.00 Upload
This shows the spotiness of this connection issue.
I hope we get some answers about resolving this terrible issue.

I was installing iOS 7.1.1 on my iPhone 4 and it had already downloaded but when I clicked install now, there was an error message that said, " there was an error in installing the software update on your device." How do I fix that problem?

It depends on how much you want the new apps. iOS 7 did slow down the iPhone 4 a little bit. Not a lot, but you will notice a bit of lag for awhile. You should get used to it and you will then be able to download the newer apps you are interested in.
iOS 7 does look very different from iOS 6. They did away with all the faux leather, stitching, glossy reflections and other skeuomorphic touches that had been the iPhones trademark look since the beginning. Google iOS 7 images and you will see what I mean. I personally like the "flat" look that they went with in 7 and the other features that come with it make up for it.
Some people do have a problem with battery life on their phones, but I think a lot of that comes from using the phone a lot in the beginning to see all the new stuff. But if you set it up the way you like and turn off the real battery drainers like push email and the screen animations (I got tired of those really fast anyway, I just want an app to open, I don't need to see it spring out of the icon) and your battery life should not be worse than what you are used to.
You will see a huge jump in performance between an iPhone 4 and a 5S.

Standard troubleshooting...
Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
Remove all apps from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Tap and hold any icon in this list until they wiggle
- Press the red to delete apps from this list.
- Press the home button twice when done.
If still a problem restore with your backup.
If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue.

Developer Steve Streza, iOS devices are programmed to ping a test URL upon connecting to a Wi-Fi network to see if it’s protected by a “captive portal.” And that test page has been down all afternoon…
Here’s more on that from Errata Security:
“When an Apple iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) connects to a WiFi network, the first thing it does is make a request to the URL http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html.
The purpose of this request is to discover if there is a “captive portal” in the way. A captive portal is when, after connecting to the WiFi, any web request you makes gets redirected to a login/ToS page. In order to continue, you must either login with a username/password (or sign up, then login), and/or access the Terms of Service.”
Anyway, it sounds like Apple was able to correct this issue on their end, so no update will be necessary. But if you’re still having Wi-Fi problems, you can try the following:
Toggle your Wi-Fi off and on – Settings app > Wi-Fi OR
Set your device’s HTTP Proxy to Auto – Settings app > Wi-Fi > Blue icon next to the network you’re connecting to > Scroll to the bottom
One of these methods should cure your iOS 6 Wi-Fi troubles. If not, be sure to let us know in the comments below.

I installed the new IOS 6.0.1 on our iphone 4s and they all run slower and choppy...there's lots of disk space left and i've tried reseting and restoring from the last back up. I strongly suspect the new OS. can I go back to the old one?

Here's the scoop...my settings indicated there was a new IOS available. I let the phone update yesterday and immediately noticed that it was slower. Today same thing, so I restored to a previous, successful back up and phone is still slow. Again, I strongly suspect the 6.0.1 but thanks anyway...

FIX - slow wifi on iPhone 6 iOS 8.0.2

ive had a problem with my wifi since I bought the iphone 6. I get good speeds for a time, then it drops off and gets slow again. Tried resetting anything and everything. Then I did this: went to my browser, typed in "what's my ip", copied my ip address and pasted in my address bar. Logged into my Verizon acct. the user name should be admin and the password should be a mix of letters and numbers on your router, unless you've changed these user names and passwords. Once logged in I went to advanced wireless settings and changed my security settings from WEP to WPA2 and reset my password to a 16 digit key. Save the settings and log out. Then since I have a pc I changed the settings on my wifi to match the settings I just changed. Then I went into my iPhone's settings < general < reset < reset network settings. and that's it. Been doing speed tests and it been working fine. Hope this helps yall.

Very slow wifi on iPhone 6 on several different wifi networks, home and work and others. Cannot be a WEP-WPA2 issue, must be an iPhone6 issue. Also have experienced 6 Mbps recently and 22 Mbps last month, seems to be variable and getting worse.
PS- iPhone 5 on very same home network gave 57 Mbps when iPhone 6 gave 6 Mbps !

I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue.

Reminders app is slow on my iPhone 4. Why?

The Reminders app which came with iOS 5 is very slow and sometimes crushes on my iPhone 4. Did anybody notice this? I will also add that the whole iOS 5 looks slow at times, though not as bad as ios 4 on my good old iphone 3G. But it sure doesn't run as smoothly as iOS 4 did... I will actually consider going back to iOS 4 if things do not improve with a future update...

I have minor slowdowns in other apps - but these don't really cause significant issues.
However, when using reminders, it can lock up for 30 seconds or more very frequently (i.e. you try to edit a reminder, it locks up, you then press done and it locks up again).
I ditched my crusty old windows PDA phone, but even this managed my task lists better than the iPhone (i.e. it was usable). I'm probably going to have to resort to editing reminders in the cloud... however, this defeats the object of having a portable to-do list that you can update.
I'm wondering whether the slowdowns are to do with cloud syncing (does it lock up when its trying to sync?)
BTW: I have an iphone 4 upgraded to iOS 5 (never used iOS 4 so cannot compare to this).

This is because you are trying to run iOS 8 on the earliest iPhone model that Apple says is stable. iOS 8 will be slow on a 4S because of the specs of the phone. If you were to run iOS 8 on a 5 or 5S it works perfectly fine. (I use iOS 8 on my iPhone 5S and it is fine with no problems) My suggestion is to restore to iOS 7 or iOS 6.

Yes iMessage was barely working before (resetting network settings is what got it sort of working), but after 7.0.3, it's more broken than ever. I can't send ANY texts to iMessage users, even if iMessage is shut off. I tried resetting, I also tried resetting network settings again, but nothing has helped. It won't let me activate it.
FindMyFriends keeps giving me a prompt to connect to iTunes. And no matter how many time i click OK, it just keeps popping up. I have to try to click my way out of it faster than the prompt appears, or i just get stuck in an endless loop. And with how slow iOS 7 is on an iPhone 4, it's a bit if a challenge.
This is the first time I'm actually ready to start looking at other phones, these problem have been BEYOND frustrating.
