IOS Update Problem

I just got the latest IOS update and I can't get through the Terms & Conditions page. There is an agree button, but when I press it (and the subsequent confirmation box button) nothing happens. I'm not sure what to do because now I can't use my phone.

If you can't get past the Terms and Conditions page after upgrading, first try restarting or resetting your iPhone:

You may also need to set Safari to accept cookies, as mentioned in the iPhone user guide:

I try to update my ipad2 ios 5.0.1 to newer version 5.1.1 but always end with failed message. Try several times, still the same. Pls help.

Make sure your iPad has at least 50% ( which I think is how much battery it says) or it can't update.
I don't think that is you problem but just to be sure.

IPAD 1 IOS Update Problem

i have a Problem with updateing to IOS 4.3.2. The Download starts and approx the half of the Download (296 MB) I get the Error -3259).
I have had checked the firewall, turned off the firewall but still the same result. Tried only Download same result.
When I download the IOS4.3.2 for my Iphone 3GS ist works well and without any Problem. Same PC, same iTunes, Firewall on.
The same Error occours during the Update vom 4.3.1 to 4.3.2. But there I have had downloaded the IOS from an alternative Server and it works.
Is it possible to download only the the IOS over http or ftp ?

What apps that you can download will depend upon whether they are compatible with iOS 5.1.1, or whether the developer has an older compatible version of their app available.
If the apps are free then you could try downloading the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it. That won't work with all apps - it's the developer's decision as to whether they have older versions available : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5919
Or have you already bought/downloaded the app and still have a compatible version on your computer's iTunes that you can sync to your iPad ?

2 gen iPod touch ios update problem

my ipod touch doesn't update to 4.1 because when I try to update it says that the ipod update server is temporarly unavaliable and I tried like for a month now to update and it doesn't. what's the problem?

IPhone 4s new IOS update problem. Itunes not reading phone anymore. Help!

I decided to update my IPhone, since I had the time. Thankfully, I did a back up before doing so. I hit "update" and my phone worked normally through it, until it said "Waiting on IPhone" for quite a few minutes. The screen of my phone also has the Itunes logo with the charge cable (not the USB side). Thinking the phone was saying it wasn't connected anymore (like something was wrong with my cable) and thats why it was taking so long, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Bad move on my part, as now Itunes will not read my phone, and my phone no longer works properly. It is stuck on the screen I described. I have reset the phone, my computer, and changed cables to no avail. Is there any way to fix this? Or do I need to make an appointment with the Genius Bar?

IOS updation problem....

Hi, i am a iphone 4 user , recently i wanted to the upgrade it to iOS5 . so i downloaded the iOS.... every thing was fine till it finished but in the processing phase the updation failed showing an error msg....i tried twice with same result...so can somebody suggest me as to what could be reason for the failure.....thanks

how can you expect an intelligent answer if you don't provide us all the details? what EXACTLY is the error message?

IPad iOS update problem

When I try to update my iPad iOS to v4.2 I get a message saying,
"iTunes could not back up the iPad because the backup could not be saved on the computer"

What has worked for some others has been to delete the existing backup file. You can delete it from iTunes>Preferences>Device Tab. However, as insurance, I would make a copy of the file before deleting it. You can find the location of the backup file here:

IOS Update problems

Hi, I have an iPhone 3GS with iOS 4.3.5.
I am trying to update the phones iOS but cannot connect to the iPhone software update server.
The pc is running Windows XP with iTunes 11.0.1.12
I have disabled my firewall, anti-virus, checked my DNS settings, but still no joy.
Is there any other way to update the iOS manually?
Any ideas would be welcome?

Last night it took me over two hours to do the latest update for my iPod touch 4th gen and after that long I would have figured that my music and apps would be loaded back in to the iPod. I lost all my music and have had to reload almost 4000+ songs andmy apps are gone. Even ones that I paid for. There is no more icon for the app store. Now when I plug my iPod in it will not let me do anything unless I restore it from backup, when I try to do this, it says that I tried to update it from another copy. Then there's a message saying there was an interruption, and a whole buch of other stuff everytime I try to fix this! WHAT IS GOING ON? I don't have time for this!

How do I disable future iOS updates till later date to prevent problems with non iOS compliant Apps?

Hello first time post here so excuse me if my posting etiquette is off and this seems lengthy.
I am a beginning tech (4 months) in a school district that has started the 1 to 1 initiative with iPads (iPad 2).
There is a huge learning curve I am facing as I don't know hardly anything about the new piece of software - apple Configurator. (A side note I was issued my very first iPad in the same time working for the district. BTW liking the iPad a lot).
I am looking for friendly beginning user info on how to operate the Apple Configurator - suggestions? At this time I have only served in an observer capacity as it assigned to someone else in the district to do. However I know this person would appreciate another mind to help out around the problem so I need to get up to speed.
This a story of bumps and scrapes and bruises on the 1-1 initiative in the district and its 4 major hiccups have occurred (that I observed).
I am hoping others have discovered these problems and figured out a way to handle them or avoid them and would be willing to share what you did.
Here goes...
The district started the 1-1 initiative roughly 3 years ago. They had a person in the middle school (way before me) in charge of the iPads. They used the IPhone Configurator device to manage the iPads. My understanding was this was very slow. That person was finally able to retire and took their knowledge they had of the iPhone Configurator utility that they used with them.The district chose to start using the Apple Configurator software this year for iPad management.
We have a brand new person that has been put in charge of this. The person did not know the software either (nor did anyone else in the district).This person has made great strides to learn the software. However there has been some issues along the way:
        1. The school where the iPad 1-1 initiative is a middle school. The students are assigned the same iPad for all three years. As 6th graders come in they are issued an iPad. As the 8th grade finishes up, they head on to high school and the iPads gets recycled to the next 6th graders walking in the door. Each grade level has there own set of apps, so the (finished) 8th graders iPads get reset for the next 6th graders walking in.
The issue is (my understanding) is that the volume purchase apps did not always revert back to the Apple Configurator/App store spread sheets before the iPads were reset. It took an act of congress with Apple to refund these apps because they were lost. Mind you we have 400 iPads in just this school alone so you can see why it was important to get these Volume Purchase Apps refunded to put on the new 6th graders iPads. $$$
         2. When the iPads were given to the students, the Apps would not work and all they would do is shake for a second. The iPads were recollected and redone. Time away from the students and classes.
        3. The iPads were refinished (with all the apps reinstalled) and given to the students. Then the students were given instructions in class how to manually setup their exchange email accounts on their iPads. Turns out the restrictions on the iPads (from the apple Configurator) were set up so the email info they put in could not verify with the exchange server. They wouldn't send or receive. So the iPads were all recalled back (time away from students and their classes again) and redone with the restrictions/ apps reinstalled.
        4. Most recent problem... iOS6 came out and all of a sudden we find out that two of our biggest 3rd party Apps were having problems with it. So it made the Apps at that point worthless. (These are paid for - expensive, most used by the school Apps). Well there was no way to prevent the students from updating to IOS6 on their own (mind you they can't get to the App Store) but they can do the iOS6 update whenever they want. Before the problem was discovered, students were prompted by their iPads and they started doing the iOS6 update. I discovered this and immediately had the secretary send out emails to everyone do not download this thing because it was making problems for existing installed Apps. Of course there are were a few more students that were like "this don't apply to me right?" and they downloaded it anyways.
So after 3 weeks of these apps not working, App update/releases were finally given and they are working again. So far we have only fixed some of iOS6 kids that are in need of those two broken apps.
Now we are at a crossroad with the other 95 installed apps to consider ... if we let the students update to iOS6 to fix the two broken apps will it interfere with the other 93 apps that are working under iOS5.1...
This iOS update thing would be better considered in the summer time for us (for future iOS updates).
So I need to know is there away to prevent this in the future? Is there away to hold off the iOS updates till summer? I've seen people say control it by blocking it through the network but it doesn't prevent them from doing this at home. Where in the apple Configurator can we control this?

You will not be able to block IOS 6. You can try blocking it with a webfilter or firewall but if the students take these home or connect to another network or iTunes they can get it that way.   You will find that the vast majority of all apps will work with 6 or have been updated to work with it by now.

You are not addressing Apple here. If you have a problem, describe it and someone might be able to help. Just to be sure, the wi-fi on the phone will go off after the phone goes into sleep mode unless it is actively being used. This is a battery saving measure. If you are actively using the internet, and the phone is still awake, then the wi-fi should remain connected.
What troubleshooting steps have you tried.

Having issues opening Safari (Browser) and opening a Google Search, but works intermittently
App store issues, where any app updates freezes and cancels
Connectivity issues, again intermittent.
These issues have been evident since the new Apple 5.1.1 iOS update.
Was wondering if anyone had any Tips to overcome this or whether Apple iOS planned to release another update to fix the items that need fixing on the iPhone 4S.
P.S - Does anyone know the new way of hiding the bookstand as since the prior 5.1 release I am unable to prize the Bookstand in a folder on its own, so again tips and workarounds welcome.

I encountered problems with the volume of my Ipad 3.
1) Except when I use skype and "Talking Babies", there is no sound coming out of speakers in all applications specially video and music.
2) There is sound when I use the ear phones but will malfunction after a few minutes.
I think this is really a software problem because if it is a hardware issue then the speakers would not work at all. Am I correct?
I hope Apple will have an option to revert back to the old IOS in case the updated software is more of a problem than a solution.
We should be enjoying the New Ipad and not wanting to smash it to the wall!
