Ios6 & iPhone 4 tethering and bluetoothproblems

Updated MacBook Pro and now iPhone 4 won't tether or Bluetooth. Tried resetting phone and updating iTunes but no results. Also tried a friends iPhone with same results. Anybody have any suggestions? Tinkered with all settings  I could find

Are you on cellular or wifi?  If you're on wifi, try opening Safari to see if you have internet access.  There have been lots of problems reported with that, so it may not be a real email problem at all.

  • IPhone 5 Tethering and Listening to Music

    Hi Guys,
iPhone 5 tethering works as expcted in ios7 (for me at least), but the minute connect my apple headset and turn start listening to some music (on the iphone), browsing becomes extremely slow nearly no packets going through.
This is new to ios7. I used to listen to music on my phone while tethering all the time on ios 6.
    Any suggestion?
    Thanks

    Hello myiphone0,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iPhone: Troubleshooting a cellular data connection
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3780
    Restart your iPhone.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update. Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try toggling it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still does not, contact your carrierto report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Best of luck,
    Mario

  • IPhone Internet tethering and MSN

I can use internet tethering fine, everything works well except MSN messenger. I can connect, chat etc... with it but only in "Offline" status. When I try to change my status to "Online" It will sign me off. This only happens when I'm connected using my iPhone as a tethered modem.
    Any suggestions?

I am having same issue. I can actually connect my Mac (running 10.6.5 and connecting via Cisco client) to the company VPN through my tethered BlueTooth connection (getting the same 172.20... you get). But once on the network I can't do anything. Can't ping. Can't ARD into a box. It's like the IP address the VPN router issues back isn't being seen at the Mac OS level. It's like the 172.20... router just doesn't understand how to jump over to the other network. I guess the Cisco Client isn't properly tunneling through. We even tried pinging backwards from the network to the IP address the Cisco router assigned back to the Mac.

  • Iphone 2gb + tethering and ipad

i'm not really good with this technology stuff. i see that when you order and iphone which i plan on doing in a couple months, it says that you can get a data plan of 2gb plus tethering. so you can use it to connect to the internet on ur laptop etc etc. now can you get a wifi ipad and use your cell to tether in and get an internet connection on it when ur not in wifi places? or is that not how it works. thank you for all your help.

Per the following AT&T web page/FAQ tethering is now available for the iPhone via an additional monthly charge and a cap on monthly data usage.
    http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&ft=searchTab&ps =solutionPanels&locale=enUS&dyncharset=UTF-8&solutionId=KB110271&isSrch=Yes
This is what it says if the links do not come out right:
    "DataPro
Our DataPro plan is $25 per month and includes 2 GB of data (the equivalent of downloading 1,000 sixty-second YouTube videos every month). This plan is designed for our customers who regularly download or stream music and video, or use other high bandwidth applications. Additionally, smartphone customers who choose DataPro will have the option to add tethering for $20 per month. This is available to iPhone customers as well.

  • Unlocked iPhone 3GS, Tethering and Carrier Updates.

I originally purchased my iPhone 3GS on pay as you go locked to O2, but i got it unlocked through O2, i now use it on a variety of carriers in several countries and would like to tether it. My iPhone is currently on iOS4 and there is no option to tether. None of the carriers i use specifically support the iPhone but do allow you to tether and use data on their respective pay as you go sims.
Also whenever i connect my phone to iTunes it tries to update my carrier settings to the O2 ones which then change the APN and break the internet and MMS on my phone. Is there a way to stop this other then repeatedly selecting no?

So the last part of setting it up as a new device is done by plugging it into my computer, itunes etc...?
Just thought my mate might be pulling a fast one, ha! Ive never owed anything apple so am new to it all.
I will enjoy it im sure, I tried to get his new 4S but he wasnt having any of it lol!
    Anyways, cheers.

  • Iphone 3G, Tethering, and IBM

So I was ecstatic about the new 3.0 features for the iPhone but the thing that really caught my eye was the ability to tether. I was thinking "hey, I can finally take road trips with my buddies while still working". So i get the update and tether successfully... I then go to connect to my vpn server which is over ipsec through AT&T Dialer and it gets stuck at Authentication... So now I have no idea what to do.

Sorry this is not a BT product I suggest you try the Apple Forum

  • Since upgrading my iphone 4 to IOS6, apps keep opening and closing on their own

Since upgrading my iphone 4 to IOS6, apps keep opening and closing on their own and the wrong ones open when another is pressed. I've tried a full reset but still the same thing...HELP PLEASE :-(

I'm not familiar with the Belkin cover, but you could try removing the cover and reboot the iPad and see how that goes.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

I have updated my iPhone to iOS6.1.3 today and lost all my photos and some data(messageies) I have tried iTunes back up but still not success, please help.

If your messages and photos weren't part of your backup, then they're gone.
Certainly you weren't foolish enough to update the iOS on your phone before importing your photos off your phone for safe keeping on your computer like you would do with any digital camera, were you?

Simple process. If an iPhone go to the Apple Store and not Verizon
the phone from Verizon will be a refurbished device and not new unless under the 14 day worry free guarantee
    good luck

  • HT4623 When I was update ios6 for iPhone 4 , mail and application are hung , why ?

When I was update iOS 6 for iPhone 4, mail and application are hung , why ? How I should do for that ?

They don't let you downgrade.  You have to eat what Apple tells you to and think what they tell you to.  If you liked the older software better than tough ****.  You know what you should do??  You should throw away that garbage that Apple has sold you that they call a phone and get something by anyone else because no one else regulates what you get to do and say about your phone in such an extreme manner.  Not being mean to you friend.  Just know that as long as Apple is answering your questions that you will never get a definate answer and at best you will get something that you don't like but have to get used too.

  • IPhone 4 tethering, but the phone isn't the problem!

Okay, it seems as though the vast majority of people are having problems with their iPhone 4's not connecting, or in Windows, it's causing their systems to freeze. Well, I'm actually having the exact opposite of this. iPhone good, MBP sad.
Problem (Long): Plugging in my iPhone 4 via USB and using tethering causes my new MacBook Pro to freeze after only a few minutes use (a few minutes being about 10 or so). I have used it before without troubles, and I'm noticing that both times I streamed YouTube videos, as well as videos from blip.tv (Flash videos). I can rule out the browser, as Safari and Firefox both locked up (well, the system went kernel panic on me). Essentially, looking at the crash report, a networkUI something or other took a dump, hence the panic.
I'm assuming that the large amount of data that's being streamed through the phone is causing it, since prior times I've just browsed the interwebs, and it worked just fine. I'm on AT&T, I have 3G, and I'm getting about 2-3 bars (the place I'm staying has Wi-Fi, but it's horrendously slow, and the walls here are lined with lead I think, hence the low signal).
Am I right about what I'm thinking? Large data over kinda hokey 3G signal causes OS 10.6 to freak out? Seems most likely.
Problem (Short): iPhone 4 tethering causes my MacBook Pro to kernel panic and it's cause of some networkUI nonsense. iPhone 4 is unaffected.
I'm not super duper worried about a rapid response, as I'm pretty sure this is the reason why. However, I just want to know if anyone else has had this problem, and if they have, was it the same conditions?
Oh, and for those that are curious, my MacBook Pro is only two weeks old, with all updates installed.
    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!!!! :-D

Using the supplied iPhone Charger and Cable... Connect to the Mains Outlet for at least 20 to 30 Minutes.

  • Verizon iPhone - mobile hotspot and other questions about the data options

I just ordered the Verizon iPhone. Can anyone explain the options here:
    1) Unlimited corporate email & Web (business and personal email) vs. Unlimited email and web for smartphones (personal email) - what's the difference?
    2) "3G Mobile Hotspot 2GB" - does this mean that there's no way I can share my 3G connection via wifi without paying the extra $20/month?? How about tethering to a single computer (USB, BT, or WiFi) - does that also require this extra option?
    3) equipment protection - what's the difference between Extended Warranty, Asurion Wireless Phone Protection, and Total Equipment Coverage?
    thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hi
Regarding your #2 question; yes, you must pay $20/mo to use the 3G Hotspot aspect of the iPhone, same as with any of Verizon's phones that offer this feature such as the Droid X, HTC phones, etc. And, there is NO additional charge to tether it to your computer; it's $20/mo regardless. You can still use the iPhone's WiFi feature to search the web which is part of the regular data plan. We're only talking about paying the $20/mo for the "up to 5 devices" jumping on your phone as a hot spot.
I'm an Apple fan, have my MacBook Pro, but my phone is a Droid X. I've been a Verizon member since a year before they became Verizon. Additionally, I am part of the Verizon & Motorola test forum; testing new software updates as they come along.
Something you should know about Verizon's 3G Hot Spot feature; it has issues. Those of us in the Motorola & HTC forums have experienced identical issues with regard to the 3G Hot Spot feature; it disconnects every 2 minutes, even when you are actively surfing the net. Verizon & Motorola Support have been very helpful to provide what they believe are fixes, including: changing the channel, hard resets, clearing cache, etc. It does not work. Most of us believe, this is NOT a Verizon issue, but a phone maker issue.
I also have Verizon's MiFi 2200. It costs $59/mo and is purely a hot spot device; again up to 5 devices. I use it at home, for my lap top and for those who need connectivity. It outperforms the 3G hot spot feature of the Motorola & HTC phones by leaps & bounds, and I suspect it will out perform the 3G hot spot feature on the iPhone. Additionally, you get 5GB of download with the MiFi which Verizon is planning on offering increases to 8GB & 10GB. There is NO plan to increase the 2GB download limitation on the 3G Hot spot of the iPhone & other phones, and anyone who does basic software downloads & pics, knows 2GBS is not a lot space.
So, I would recommend not paying the $20 until this is resolved. If you do, you could pay $39 more for a total of $59/mo for the MiFi, download the software to you home computer & notebook, and end up canceling your home internet service. I did this and have saved $70/mo in my total utilities.
One other important note: Verizon's VZManager Software for their phones & MiFi. If you did pay the $20/mo for the iPhone and decided to tether to your USB port (for power while using) and you were to use the 3G hot spot feature, it will NOT work on 64 Bit computers, regardless if you are using the WiFi feature or directly using VZManager. The MiFi has this same issue. It will only work on 32 Bit when tethered. So, you'd have to reboot your computer to 32 Bit, if you have that ability. On a Macbook Pro, simply restart holding down the "3" & "2" keys.
I have no idea why Verizon can't simply upgrade the firmware, even recent firmware upgrades have not resolved this. Most new computers are 64 Bit now.
Despite this, I use my MiFi 100% untethered and carry my charge cord in my bag as it also works on my Droid, and I presume they may do the same for the iPhone; reduces the need for multiple power cords.
I really looked forward to the 3G feature of the Motorola & HTC phones, but honestly, it's just not there yet; mine was slower than Dial Up, and I'm not kidding.
