Ios7 music playlist & shuffle

It seems I can no longer shuffle songs within a genre nor can I create a playlist by selecting a genre in my music app. Am I missing something or is Apple trying to make listening to music the most tedious thing ever now?
Also, how do I get iOS 6 back?

Agreed! After using Spotify for a long time I go and buy some songs from the iTunes store on my iPhone, in an effort to create a playlist to listen to. Then I find out you can't add songs from the "bought" playlist to a new one any more. I have to manually search through my whole library to find these new songs? Seriously. No wonder people are dropping itunes and going the spotify route en masse with this kind of basic functionality missing. If you could only add a song to a playlist when you are listening to the song it would be a bit better, but oh no. Come on Apple you can do better than this!
Also for some weird reason the Music App adds the new songs to the bottom of the "Bought" playlist, when before it added them to the top. So now I have the oldest ever bought songs right next to the newly purchased ones. Not a huge issue but ticks me off and is a symptom of lack of caring and lack of polish

  • Cannot Shuffle Music Playlist from Apple TV

When I go into my homeshare libray from the apple TV, then go into Music->Music Playlist and then choose any of my playlists that my music videos are in, I can play my music videos one by one. There is always the option to shuffle at the top, however when I pick "Shuffle" it displays a yellow triangle with exclamation mark in it and says "no content was found." Any idea why I cannot shuffle a playlists of music videos from the apple TV?

I'm having the same issue. For some playlists, I can shuffle, but others, it won't and I get that "No content was found". I haven't figured it out yet. Has anyone else?

  • Why does my shuffle 3rd gen. play music playlist in backwards order? And how would I correct this?

Hey, my iPod Shuffle was playing the music playlist I had imported through itunes from my mac fine and in perfect order until about 2 weeks ago. However for the last 2 weeks (there or thereabouts) it has played the playlist I on my shuffle in backwards order when I use the "Play in order" setting on my iPod. over this period I have tried everything short of going into apple to see what can be done incase im being stupid and have overlooked something. So far I have reset the unit independently wihtout the use of my mac (no effect), I have restored and re-imported the playlist I was using (no effect), I have imported an alternative playlist in case it was the playlist somehow (no effect), I have even uninstalled/re-installed iTunes on my mac and restored my Shuffle on the re-installed iTunes, also with no effect. The "shuffle" setting works fine and has no issue however and therefore makes me think it is some sort of hardware fault but as there been no physical damage to the unit nor has it undergone any form extreme treatment or been exposed to wildly varying temperatures I cant even think its cause is due to anything physical as nothing has happened to it...... I am stumped to say the least.... If anyone has experienced this also and cured their hardware could they please help?

it's a question how your itunes settings are
    in preferences ->advanced
uncheck the copy files to itunes media folder when adding to library
then when ever you add media to your itunes lib you just add a link and the media stay where it is

  • After upgrading to iOS7, all 'albums' in 'music' are shuffled and I cannot undo.  Anyone have this also?

After upgrading to iOS7, all 'albums' in 'music' are shuffled and I cannot undo.  Anyone else have this also?

After doing some more searching, I've discovered the problem, and it is all mine, I'm embarrassed to say.
When I adjusted the apps to a larger size, iOS7 only allows 9 apps per page per folder.  If I have more apps, iOS7 just adds more pages within the folder.  So the apps I missed were there all along, just on another page.
I apologize for any confusion, and thank you for taking an interest in helping me solve it.

  • Playlist shuffle problems

I'm having issues with playlist shuffling on my iPhone 4, and the only discussion I found with the same problem remained unanswered.  I have a playlist of various classical music that I want to shuffle randomly, and it won't.  If I play it in order, all 53 songs will play and can repeat in order.  If I select "Shuffle" from the list of songs, or if I hit the blue "shuffle" icon on the cover art, it changes from "1 of 53" to either "1 of 8" or "1 of 9" (depending on which song happens to be playing).  The smaller groups don't seem to be based by artist or by album, but I can't get it to shuffle all 53 songs. I tried making a smart playlist by genre, and I tried making the playlist manually.  Nothing seems to work.  I have another mixed playlist with various artists and multiple albums, and it functions normally: I can get it to shuffle randomly through all 51 songs across albums and artists no problem.  There must be some property of the music files or the playlists that I'm missing that's causing this bug, but I'm at my wit's end.  Any suggestions?

Do all the songs in your playlist have a check in the box to the left of each song's name?  Songs without a check will be ignored unless specifically selected to play. If you don't see the checkboxes, go to iTunes > Preferences > General and check "Show list checkboxes".
To check or uncheck all boxes on a Mac with one click, hold down the Command (cmd) key and click on one of the checkboxes with the mouse.  You can use this in a library, a playlist or in search results.
If the check marks are not the source of your problem, select one of the songs that won't play when shuffling. Open the song's information window (cmd + I or File > Get Info) and click the Options tab. Check that "Skip when shuiffling" is not checked.

  • Music App shuffle option doesn't work

    Stats: iPad 1, iOS 5.0.1
Music App shuffle option doesn't work.  I have already reset the iPad, removed all my music and resynched.  Shuffle button is selectable, but just plays the songs in alphabetical order, even if I try to skip to another song or start anywhere on my playlist.
So far this version of music player for apple product is disappointing, the iTunes app before never had these issues.  There are some serious bugs in this Music app, Apple your comback success was largely because of iPods and iTunes, so music is a big part of Apple users use, please fix this.

    Hello,
Yes I believe this is a known bug in Firefox OS v1.0. [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=883781 Bug 883781].
The bug is marked as resolved in Firefox OS v1.1. Once ZTE update the Open to v1.1 the bug will be fixed on your device.
v1.1 of Firefox OS was officially released yesterday. Hopefully it won't be too long before it reaches the ZTE Open. See here for more details:

  • Out of order Music Playlists on Apple TV (2nd generation)

When I view my music playlists and select one playlist, the songs in that playlist appear out of their original order as if shuffled. However, in iTunes on the MacBook they appear in the proper order. Anyone know what's up?

I did find a work-around posted here. If you hit the play button with a playlist highlighted it will play the tracks in the created order rather than alphabetically. Once you have opened a playlist with select, it will only play them in alpha order. Of course you can select an individual track to play as well.

  • Playlist shuffle and/or continous play

    Gentlemen,
just got the new Apple TV, which in general works great. Only two problems concerning the music playlists via iTunes:
    Problem 1:
    - I am sucessfully connected to my iTunes playlists and can see every single album/title on my TV
    - I also can select one single title and play that music
    - but when I select Shuffle (in fact, it's "Zufällige Wiedergabe", as I am using the german Version), it gives me an error message like "Content not available" (rough translation). I also got this error message when I try to access that playlist not via the remote, but via the remote app on iPhone
    Problem 2:
    - If I select one single title in a playlist, I would expect that after the end of that song it plays the next one in that playlist. But it's not happening. So I would need to selecr every single title after the end of another one - very annoying.
Somewhere here in the forums somebody wrote that at least problem 2 is an error that was fixed with the latest update of Apple TV. But yesterday after installation, Apple TV already updated itself - so it looks like it does not work for me.
Can you guys help me with the two problems?
    Kind regards
    Alex

For your first problem, it sounds like your songs are unchecked in your iTunes library. Unchecked songs will not play through shuffling and playlists. They appear slightly grey instead of white and are only able to be played by selecting that particular song. Your second problem is likely related to that fact. Make sure your songs are checkmarked in your iTunes Library and that should resolve all your issues.

  • Getting videos out of music playlists?

Is there a way to make videos stop showing up in my smart playlists? It asked me if I really wanted to put music and videos in the same playlists when I first made all my playlists, but I've changed my mind since then and can't seem to find a way to do it.

Not sure if this will help, but I just keep all music videos unchecked. ITunes includes a music video smart playlist--so you can find these things easily. I use party shuffle a lot and I hated how videos brought this feature to a halt. By unchecking them, everything works just fine. I can still view a video if I click on it--they just don't automatically try to play anymore--or get included in "smart music playlists"!

  • Music playlists do not play in order

Music playlists do not play in order. How do turn off that function and get playlists to play in order?

In the Music app in iOS6, white is still off, but on is orange, for both the shuffle function and the repeat function.  As before, the repeat widget is a three-state toggle, with two on states - a plain racetrack for repeating the album or playlist, or a racetrack with a smaller circle containing a "1" superimposed on it for repeating a single track.
I don't know what happens if both suffle and repeat are on, maybe it creates a hole in space-time.
By the way, I tapped on the artwork many times before the additional song controls appeared.

  • Making A Playlist Shuffle?

Is it possible to make a playlist shuffle, so you can add all the music and it won't play the same band till all the songs you chose are through with that artist?

Ya, in the iPod settings, if you set it so it shuffles music, your playlists will be shuffled as well. At least it certainly is working that way on mine. Even when I pull up an artist and a specific album to listen to, it shuffles that album. So in my experience it is the iPod's setting that determines if shuffles is ON or not and if it is ON, then everything gets shuffled, library, play list, album, etc.

  • I just logged back in and suddenly found that my my My Music playlist had been wiped.

I just logged back in and suddenly found that my my My Music playlist had been wiped except for the last track. This is genuinely depressing for me as I had probably hours of that giant playlist built up that I would leave on shuffle throughout the day, is there any way I can get any of that back? I know i didn't just wipe it as So Happy I could Die by Lady Gaga (the last song I added) is still on there.

  • ITunes music playlists won't sync with iphone 5 and iPad 3 on iOS 7

my iphone 5 and "new" iPad 3 won't sync music playlists with itunes 11.1.4.62 and new iOS 7 platform.
I have spent countless hours trying to correct!!!  What is taking Apple so long to address???  I get the greyed out songs with a circle on the left side (below).  Never had this issue until iOS7.  I'm running Windows 8.1.  HELP!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the syncing troubles?

  • [All Platforms][Music] Album Shuffle Function

Spotify should implement a shuffle album function. The path for shuffling all songs is currently Your Music > Songs > Shuffle Play. The only difference for the paths would need to be swapping Songs for Album (or Playlist or Artist, or however this could be expanded).  I really like listening to music, sometimes I enjoy the song shuffle feature, but usually it's too erratic for me. One minute it's hardcore, the next is some americana rock, the next is some sad singer songwriter, then on to hair metal... you get the picture. What would be nice would be an album shuffle feature. Let me listen to 15 hardcore songs in a row by the same artist, then onto an album of Americana rock, then maybe I want to skip the depressing singer/songwriter that's up next, so I do. I've always thought it would be an awesome feature to have and hopefully some other folks do too.

further research led me here- https://community.spotify.com/t5/Live-Ideas/Shuffle-by-Album/idi-p/18457 so give that kudos or what have you.
