  • System Clean Install because of IP address issues

    HI,
I just did a clean re-install of Snow Leopard as I had been having the self-assigned IP address issues that so many snow leopard users have been having. Before doing this I used time machine to make a backup of my HD on an external HD and synced my iphone 4 with the computer.
Now I am hoping to get all of my music back, as well as my contacts, but can't seem to access either of those individually on my external HD using time machine or manually.
Also I am worried about plugging in my iPhone to the computer and syncing with iTunes, as if I do, I may lose my lifetime's collection of music altogether. Clearly I should have backed up this music on an extra external HD in addition to the time machine backup, but didn't think to do that.
What are my options? Will it erase the music on my iphone if I sync, or will it pull the music off of it and back into my library? What about Mail and Address book etc?
    any help would be appreciated

Normal iTunes syncing with an iPhone is one-way - computer to iPhone. If you try to sync the iPhone without your old library then you will indeed wipe everything off the iPhone. There are numerous utilities around such as Pod To Mac - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - that can be used to transfer from the iPhone/iPod to the computer as well as ones that can mount the iPhone/iPod as a disk drive so you can transfer data between computer and iPhone/iPod. For example, PhoneDisk.

  • MAC address issue----Spearman

Saw your comments on this in the post about the 1.9 bios for neo2platty ....
I can confirm that My MAC address issue was caused by the bios that you sited in your comments....all F's were written to My nvidia lan too...
only solution from what I have read is too rma it...'bummer'
just thought You would like to know....  Your not alone

I had the same problem yesterday and after many hours searching the web I ended up with this post that made me really desperate... But I didn't give up and while trying a new bios flash because of random crashes when in the bios, I noticed the obvious: you can change the MAC address when flashing
use the last version of the dos flasher with the parameters /nvmac:xxxxxxxxxxxx/wb after the name of the bios file; it's explained if you ask the help with the /help parameter. You can find the mac address on a stick on the parallel port.

  • Spanning Tree and Admin mac address issues srw2048

Ok, I have a somewhat complex problem and hopefully someone may shed some light or have an idea as to whats wrong.
    First the scenario:
I have two Cisco Cat 6509's etherchanneled to each other via two fiber cables.  One of these is the STP/RSTP root.  I have two SRW2048's.. one trunked to each of these 6509 switches.  There is also a trunk between the SRW2048's.  All this is to create a redundant topology so that if one of the switches fail's the others can still forward packets to each other.  Of course the scenario described is in fact a loop that should be handled by STP/RSTP.  I have RSTP enabled on all the switches in the scenario (PV RSTP on the cisco switches as they only do Cisco's brand of per vlan spanning tree).  There are 3 vlan's configured on each of the srw2048's (2,55,96).  There are corresponding vlan's also on the 6509's.  I have put the srw2048's management interface into vlan 2.
    The problem:
I need to forward packets between the srw2048's primarily and only use the 6509 that is not the root when a failure happens.  I have configured the non-root 6509's spanning tree cost on the etherchannel to be higher then the alternate path through the srw's to the root.  I can hook everything up and view the spanning tree and see that the srw2048's interface that goes to the non-root 6509 is blocked, and all other interfaces on the other switches are forwarding.  I can in fact ping and get to the admin interface on all the switches.  Then for some strange reason the admin interface of the srw2048 plugged into the non-root 6509 stops responding.  If I disable either the interface its plugged into on the 6509 or the other srw2048 everything starts working again.  Sometimes it responds after many failures for no apparent reason.  I looked into the mac-address table on the 6509's and they are conflicting, pointing to each other for the mac-address of the broken srw2048.  When I clear the mac-table the admin port comes back for about 5 seconds then again goes dark.  When reviewing mac-table on the 6509's they are back to pointing to each other.  The odd thing (although I haven't confirmed this completely) is that hosts placed into vlan 2 on that same srw2048 seem to work fine.  If there was an STP loop or something misconfigured, I would expect it to effect any host in vlan 2 or the other vlan's for that matter on the srw2048 that stops responding.  Alas, I am stuck because I need to manage this switch remotely.  My only thought is that for some reason even when the STP status is blocked the broken srw2048 is still sending out arp's of its admin interface and bypassing the STP protocol.  I have no way to confirm this, but maybe someone has an idea as to what I'm doing wrong, or otherwise offer a solution.  For now, I simply removed vlan 2 from the 6509 that the broken srw2048 is plugged into and everything seems fine.
My apologies for such a long post, but this is somewhat complicated.  Thanks in advance for any info.

To follow up, I had a ticket open with Linksys about this for about 3 months with no resolution.  I submitted packet captures, stp outputs, etc and no luck.  I gave up and basically had to revert to a manual failover for redundancy.  It's no perfect or fast, but it works every time.
Unless linksys issues a firmware upgrade with this as a fix, I doubt we will be able to ever resolve this on our own.

  • Multiple IP Address Issues

This has been driving me crazy for a while now.  Mainly because I solved this once for myself earlier this year!  I cannot find the solution again and I need help.  Two Snow Leopard clients I have, (10.6.6) are returning three IP addresses in DNS.  One for each is their correct static IP, the other two are odd.
    For example (not actual IPs):
    PowerMac1.domain.com is returning 192.168.1.38 (correct), 192.168.242.1, 192.168.138.1
    iMac1.domain.com is returning 192.168.2.13 (correct), 172.168.28.1, 172.168.16.1
This happens with Windows nslookup or Apple's dig, of course.
Like I said, I managed to fix this on another system (running Snow Leopard server) a while back.  I believe it was an SMB issue?  Don't really remember.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

  • Time Capsule   Airport Extreme   Airport Express - IP Address Issues, Internet dropping...

I have a brand new Time Capsule 3TB functioning as my main wireless router from a Motorola SB6141 Cable Internet Modem.  I have a Airport Extreme and Airport Express extending the network from my Time Capsule 3TB.  After the intial setup there were no connection issues for several days.  However, yesterday I began to experience issues where the Time Capsule starting telling me that other devices on the network were trying to assign IP Addresses to change from DHCPand NAT to Bridge Mode.  What is the best solution for this?  My temporary solution is just to do a hard reset of the SB6141 which seems to alleviate the issue until the next day.  Please help!

There is definitely some issues with the SB6141 modem and the new AC version Extreme and TC.
I have recommended to several people to use a crossover cable or a small 10/100 switch.
Either is a very cheap item and I cannot promise a solution but it has helped.
Net time it happens please login with airport utility and take a few screenshots of the TC summary page and internet tab and post them here.

  • Self-assigned IP address issue after upgrade

I do a lot of file transferring from my mac to another pc laptop, so I've got them hooked together with an ethernet cable.  I had this issue in the past, where I'd try to connect but my network settings kept saying the "ethernet has a self-assigned IP address and will not be able to connect".  The solution I found to fixing this was to open up the Advanced Settings, and change the IPv6 configuration to "Link-local only" and then everything would work perfectly.
I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday, however, and now that solution no longer works.  Still getting self-assigned IP.  How can I fix this??

I took the following from the Aztech website:
    8) Can Aztech HomePlugs work with Apple MACs?
Yes they can, Aztech HomePlugs work with Apple MACs. However, there is a requirement for using the Utility software. The Utility software will only run on Microsoft Windows 98SE / ME/ 2000/ XP/ Vista.
Which contradicts itself, if the Utility is required but only runs on Windows, how does that work on a Mac?

  • I have just upgraded my 2 apple computers to OX Lion and my macbook pro is having ip address issues. I have manually changed the ip address, renewed lease which works but everytime I switch on it does not connect to wi fi until I edit the ip address.

I recently upgraded to OX Lion and have an ipod, ipad, iphone and other apple mac computer on the network besides my macbook pro.
Since the upgrade I am having issues with my ip address. I have edited this number under renew lease, taken it to a manual edit and on any of these occassions found an address which allows the computer to go on wi fi.
However everytime I use my computer it starts off without wi fi and I have to manually go back to ip address and either adjust to manual or renew lease.
    Any ideas?

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t have Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there to increase your chances of getting an answer.  https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

  • How to fix the "Two computers using the same IP address" issue on the airport express

I just bought an airport express and got dsl at my apartment, and I haven't been able to set up the wireless connection. My DSL works just fine but whenever I hook up the AX I get an error message saying that there are two computers using the same IP address on the network, but I only have one computer.
I know this is probably a simple fix, but I've never had this issue when I set up the Extreme at my parents house and I haven't been able to find a thread on this.
As of right now I have it set to Factory settings.
    Help please!

This modem was designed to connect directly to a computer and you are trying to connect it to a router.
Unfortunately, this is not a simple fix as both the modem and your AirPort Express will need to be configured differently to work together correctly.
Connect the modem directly to your computer.
Open up your browser and type the default IP address for the modem into the address bar. Check your documentation on the modem but it is likely 192.168.1.254
That will bring up the configuration page for the modem.
You may need to enter the modem access code which is on a label on the back or bottom of the device
Look for an Advanced tab, then look for a tab labeled something like PPP Location
Right now, you will see that "PPP is on the modem"
Chance that to "PPP is on the computer or router"
Click to save your new settings and the modem will restart
If you ever need to get the modem back to its original settings, you will need to hold in the reset button on the back of the modem for 5-6 seconds and then enter in the default IP address to be able to access the settings on the modem
Connect the modem to the AirPort Express with an Ethernet cable
Open AirPort Utility on your Mac and click Continue to follow the guided setup to "Create a wireless network"
You may be asked to "switch" networks when you do this. You want to switch
Select the "Connect Using PPPoe" option when it appears
Enter your user name and password with your provider. Leave the Service Name area blank. You want to always stay connected if you see that option
Continue to follow the guided setup and Update to save settings
Pull the power cord from the modem, wait a moment, then restart the modem
Log on to the wireless network that you created during the setup and you should have an Internet connection

  • IP Address Issue with eth0 and xenbr0

    Hi All
Last sunday I bought new machine with AMD 6 core processor and 16gb RAM. I installed Vmserver 2.2.1 successfully but I am not able to access the vmserver from other machines.
Network card detected and shows status up and running.
One thing I observed that the assigned IP address for management NIC is getting assigned to xenbr0, this might be the issue.
I tried assigning ip address back to eth0 but as soon as I restart the server it will go back default to xenbr0 means IP address is getting assigned to xenbr0 instead of eth0.
Any suggetions here highly appreciated I struck with this issue.
Let me know if you have any suggestion to make it work so that I can access vm server from other machines.
how to make the default ip address to be assigned after reboot and what would be the ip address for xendr0 ?
    Regards
    Anandkumar S.M.

    Hi,
actually the IP address is bound to the bridge (not to eth0).
    This works as designed.
Even if you setup the network manually you assign the IP to the bridge - not to eth0.
Maybe the underground manual for OVM can give you more information:

  • Employee Vendor Address Issue

    Hello Guys,

  • Address issue

    Good morning Experts,
we have a very strange issue with IT0006 for Norway.
We have an employee which works in Norway but lives in Sweden. So normally our HR would just enter the Swedish address in IT6 how they do for similar cases in other countries as well. But in this case it´s not working. As you can see at my screenshot when I try to enter SE for Sweden it won´t really accept that value. It has still the postal code from Norway cities in the table behind the postal codes. And I cannot enter any other value from Sweden to it.
The strange thing is that it works for any other country - for example an Employee is working in Switzerland but lives in Germany. That is no problem.
Any idea what this issue is about?
    Thanks!
    Claudio

    Hi Jonathan,
thank you - your answer helped me thinking differently.
It looks like that there is a combination of fields who needs to be maintained first before the country code changes. First I changed the country code and then I just entered a Swedish Postal code and then I also had to enter a NAV code and pressed return. After that the Country code description changed from Norway to Sweden. I don´t know why it behaves different as in the other European countries but with this combination it works. Now HR has to decide if this is ok and if they have a NAV number.
Thank you very much for your help - I really appreciated it!
    Kind Regards,
    Claudio

  • Client IP Address issues

Just starting to put a Cisco Wireless infrastructure in place, currently just testing every thing.  Here is my issue.
After I create a WLAN, bind it to the VLAN I can authenticate but can't get an IP address.
Now if I bind the WLAN to the same VLAN the AP is on, I can get an IP address.
I do have the DHCP IP configured under WLAN as well as interface, I tried it with just configuring it on the interface but no use
I tried DHCP proxy enabled and disabled
Also want to mention that the AP is connected to a switch and the switch port is setup as an access port on VLAN130.

what happens if we assign static Ip address?? are we able t oping the Default Gateway?? or from the DG are we able to ping the client??
Normally the LWAPP in local mode will be in the Access Port.. not trunk... so if you assign vlan 130 on the switch port then the clients connecting to VLAN 109 should also get the IP since its LWAPP tunneled.. So from my understanding.. you are configuring VLAN 130 on the switch and connecting the AP and the VLAN 109 guys are not getting the IP where in VLAN 130 guys are getting the IP?? please correct me if my understandings are incorrect..
    >> in this case.. i have a question.. To what switch is this AP connected to?? any small business switch like CE 500 or anything better than that?? like 2960 and so on..??
    >> Are we able to ping the Default gateway from the WLC and the Client (the interface VLAN which is facing the issue )??
    >> check the switch port configuration on which the WLC is connected and make sure the problematic VLAN is allowed.. or on the switch check if we have that VLAN in the VLAN.dat allowed.
Lemme know how this works out for you!!

  • SF300 VLAN IP Address Issues

I have purchased 3 SF300-48 switches to work with my Aironet AP1131AG wireless APs. I have now switched from 1 VLAN for everything to having a Guest_Wireless VLAN 200 as well as the default VLAN 1 for my Corporate_Network. The issue that I am having is that any client on my default VLAN is receiving an IP address from the Windows DHCP server without issue, but when you connect to the Guest VLAN you cannot get an IP address.
So, I also have a Cisco 3560G Router (Default Gateway) that has the same Aironet AP1131AG AP connected to it with the same config files as the other APs and it is working perfectly. I can connect to either wireless SSID (Corp Vlan1 or Guest Vlan 200) and get the proper IP address from the DHCP server.
I attached the diagram of the network below and was looking for help in configuring the SF300 to allow the IP address to be obtained on the Vlan 200 subnet. I also tried connecting my laptop directly into the SF300 and setting the port to access Vlan 200 and I can still not get an IP address.
    Any help would be appreciated...
    Aaron

Thank you for taking the time to help me Tom, yes the 3560G has its trunks set to dot11q encap and native valn of 1. The native vlan on the SF300 is set to vlan 1 but I didn't tag vlan 200 to the trunk. I was thinking that if not listed it would pass any vlan info across a trunk and when you tagged it would only limit passing vlan info of the vlans that you specified only.
I will definately give this a try and update this thread.
    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • Vpn-framed-ip-address issue

    Hi Guys,
I'm using a cisco 5510 ASA at the headoffice to provide the VPN (remote access vpn) connectivity to the branch offices.
My local network is - 192.168.30.0 /24 and I've used a part of same segment for the vpn_pool as well ( i.e 192.168.30.152 -192.168.30.199). Further I'm using the vpn-framed-ip-address feature to allocate an unique ip address for each branch office when it connects.
My problem is, though this setup worked fine at the begining, now sometimes when the vpn connections are established from remote branches, they take different ip addresses from the allocated vpn pool, rather than the specific ip address which is mentioned under the vpn-framed-ip-address command.
Can anyone assist me with this issue?
    Regards,
    Suthakar

    Hi Javier,
I think I have found out a solution for this problem.
I've removed the ip vpn pool and its reference under tunnel group general-attributes
    ip local pool vpn_pool x.x.x.x - x.x.x.x
    tunnel-group x.x.x.x general-attributes
    address-pool vpn_pool
since there is no ip-pool, now the remote client's are getting the exact individual ip addresses allocated for them with the vpn-framed-ip-address command.
    Thank you for your support.
    Regards,
    Suthakar

  • Business partner address issue

    Hi Experts,
I am involved in a CRM upgrade project from 4.0 to 5.1.
    There is a typical problem.
For some business partner types, all the BPs are having double address maintained in the database,i.e., the address of the business partners are maintaned twice, though only one address has been entered for them during BP address entry.
So whenever we are working with tcodes like opportunity, it is prompting us to select one of the address from the pop-up. Whenever we are entering any partner value in the Partner tab, a pop up comes to select one of the address though both the addresses are same.
What I saw in ADRC table is there are 2address no.s maintained for the same address.
No clue why it is happening and how to rectify it.
Please help, its an urgent issue.
    Regards,
    Sangeeta

    Hi,
You can write an executable report to determine the duplicate addresses and then delete them selectively from ADRC table using the API
    BAPI_BUPA_ADDRESS_REMOVE
or using delete statement and then calling
    commit_work
If you are using mobile sales application and having the same problem, then i would advise you to use Middleware concepts of Bdoc creation to create bupa_main Bdocs with the delta mode set properly for address and then trigger the mobile bridge programmatically to create the relevant sBdocs and replicate to the clients.
Also, if you would this problem in R/3, then you would need to trigger the bupa_main adapter object upload using request loads.
    Reward if helpful.
    Thanks,
    Sudipta.
