Ipad 1 in recovery mode after ios5 upgrade attempt

Hello everybody,
I tried to upgrade my ipad 1 to ios5. When error 3200 disappeared, my ipad came in a reboot loop and wasn't recognized anymore. After entering DFU mode iTunes tells me there's an iPad in recovery mode and I can start recovery, but recovery ends at 2/3 of recovery process. Then iTunes tells there's an "unrecognized error (1)".
Does anyone have the same problems? My ipad upgrade log file.can be found here: http://pastebin.com/9B3E5k73
Best regards
eddie

Earlier today I sent the below to fransfromvught:
I am not sure if this reply is going to everyone or just fransfromvught.  Anyhow, a very helpful and patient apple phone support person solved tne problem for me - it took over two hours on the phone!
- download the current version of iTunes to another computer, either mac or pc.  I was told if a pc, it should have XP service Pack 3.
- plug the iPad into the other computer with the fresh download and restore iTunes to the iPad.
- whe that restore is complete, unplug the iPad from the other computer and plug it into the original computer you were using.
- do the restore on the original computer and keep your fingers crossed!  Be sure to sync the iPad before unplugging it.  Poof, it worked for me!
Fortunately I had an old Toshiba lap top with XP service pack 3 laying around to use as the "other computer."  PC / Microsoft to the rescue in my case!
Hopefully I correctly remember the steps taken.  Please forward this to the others and let me know if this works for you.
I'm now in the cloud ... Happy iPading!!

  • Why is my iPad in recovery mode after update to 7.1.1?

I updated my iPad to 7.1.1 and after restart, the screnn signified connecting to iTunes.  When I did that,  it says it's in recovery mode and must be restored.  Why is it doing this and how can this be corrected?

Something went wrong with the update and you are in Recovery Mode.
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note:
    1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
    2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • ZenV Plus STILL stuck in recovery mode after firmware upgrade

    =Hi there,
My ZenV plus opened in recovery mode for no apparent reason... I have tried every option to try to fix it, including downloading and installing the firmware upgrade - this generated a message saying the upgrade was successful but the player will still only start in Recovery Mode after trying to reboot it. So what do I do next? Thanks in advance for any and all helpful suggestions.

    AHi,
Can you please try resetting the ZEN V Plus to see if it helps?
To reset the player, use a pin to press the reset button.
Did this happen out of the blue?
Do you have any contents in the player? If you do, please remove them to see if the player is booting up properly.

  • 3GS stuck in recovery mode during ios5 upgrade

Downloaded ios5 but was not able to sync phone.  iTunes keeps telling me to restore iPhone before it can be used with iTunes. During recovery iTunes stops recognizing my phone, the message "iT has detected an iP in recovery mode..." pops up and the process starts over, where it begins downloading ios5 again. It ran like this all night.

Problem solved, so I'm posting an update on how I solved it:
    1. Forced phone into DFU mode.
DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode is not the same as restore mode. DFU mode bypasses the current OS installed and allows you to upgrade or downgrade your OS.
I found the info I needed on this link: http://askville.amazon.com/iphone-dfu-mode-explain-breif/AnswerViewer.do?request Id=12881693 so here are the copy/paste directions for how to get to DFU:
    Step One
Open iTunes and connect the iPhone to your computer.
    Step Two
Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time.
    Step Three
After exactly 10 seconds release the Sleep/Wake button. Continue holding the home button until you iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode.
The iPhone screen will be black, but the device will be recognized on iTunes.
    2. Clicked "restore" in iTunes.
iTunes downloaded iOS5 (again), which took hours, then restored everything since my last backup (the day before)
The phone is still connected to computer with USB, so resist the urge to touch anything on the phone while it reloads everything...slowly.
Best wishes for a painless recovery.

  • Can't recover 3GS after IOS5 upgrade attempt - phone no longer seen in iTunes

Tried upgrade on 3GS to IOS5, got msg that iTunes detected phone in recovery mode and I must restore. iTunes no longer sees the phone so restore doesn't work. Win XP sees the phone driver when I connect the phone, and driver says it is working properly. Have went through the entire support topic "iPhone not appearing in iTunes" and found no problem.  Rebooted computer 3 times and tried all USB ports -  iTunes still doesn't see the phone. Any ideas on how to recover this phone?

my problem occurred when I upgraded to IOS5 on my iPhone 4.  I received an unable to sync message that indicated that there was no space left on my iPhone; and a "Other" Capacity indicator appeared on the bottom of the iPhone device sync screen (in yellow color) and noted an overage of 12GB!  Ofcourse, prior to the upgrade I actually had 6GB free on my 32GB iPhone.  So, there is a bug.  The following link indicates a few solutions and hopefully it will answer your concern.  The link is http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
However, I had to restore as the first two solutions didn't work.  Furthermore, about 3.3GB of "Other" remains while I synced up.  Clearly, the problem has not been resolved.  Apple owes me and you community members a patch to fix this bug.  Basically, I have spent about two hours fixing this and I still cannot use 3.3GB of my iPhone space.

  • Zen touch stuck in recovery mode after usual update attempt.HE

I like many others on the forum have attempted to carry out the firmware update only to be left in the same position as many others. My zen touch is now stuck in the recovery mode with no firmware and my pc wont recognise the player. The o/s on my pc is windows xp professional version 2002 service pack 2. I have wiped the hard dri've and installed a copy of windows 2000 but still no luck. I re-installed windows xp and now in device manager i have a creative zen touch showing and also a pci modem both with yellow ? marks next to them with a message of re-install drivers code 28,however the drivers are already installed with the latest driver from the creative web site. It appears that the pc wont recognise the player because there is no firmware installed. I have tried almost everything that has been mentioned on the forum and am now at my wits end. The player was working perfectly well before trying the firware update and i think that it is disgusting that a company as large as creative has not helped more with this problem ,looking at the amount of people that has had this same thing happen to them.Any help from you good people out there would be much appreciated. Thank you.Paul.

I too tried the 'upgrade' and now my Zen is history. I will not give up - I just do not have the hours that it will take to fix available to me right now.
I am very serious, Creative People, I have 2 suggestions:
) remove the faulty upgrade from your website
    2) Fire the person who initiated the upgrade.
I certainly wouldn't have a job if I created an upgrade like this.

  • IPAD ON RECOVERY MODE AFTER UPDATING TO IOS 7.1.1

hey guys...while i was updating my ipad to the newest version of ios it suddenly stopped and went to recovery mode....i connected to itunes and tried to recover it...but due to my slow internet connection it was unsucessfull...i just want to know wheater erasing the contents on my ipad from FIND MY IPAD works or not....please help me

If your iPad is stuck in recovery mode, DO THIS: (ON Screen USB pointing to a CD with a Music Note).
    1. Make sure your iTunes is up to data, if not re-download itunes.
    2. after re-installing ITUNES, plug your ipad via USB into your computer. ITUNES will automatically pick it up and a pop up box will probally say that your iPad stuck in recovery mode would you like to restore?
    3. Click the restore tab.
Note - If ITUNES if out of date, this will not work.
Note - Do not do this over WIFI
Note - Do not interrupt the restore
Note - If you did not make a previous back up, your IPAD will restore back to the factroy settings.
All this happened to me, fortunately I made a back up. I hope this helps.

  • My iPad entered Recovery Mode after updating to iOS 7.0.2

Today I received the push notification of the iOS update (7.0.2), after installing and rebooting the itunes icon came up. So I connect my iPad to my itunes and it says I have to recover back to factory settings!

maybe all of you ppl didnt see my first post. so ill post it again and i dont care if its considered "smug". the only sure way to fix a device in recovery mode (itunes logo on device) is for u to restore it using the latest version of itunes on ur pc. if u tried to update and it put it into recovery mode the leading cause of this is that something went wrong with YOUR internet connection, computer, or connection to device during process. all of these are not apple's fault. im sure if they werent busy fixing real bugs in there system they would apologize for the giant update that you just tried to install on your incredibly complicated device failed because something on your end couldnt handle it.
disable ur overbearing antivirus software temporarily
redownload itunes, dont uninstall, just redownload
restore your device and try not to use a crappy internet connection or a crappy over used or third party cord
this WILL erase your device. if u lose a lot of info because of this, maybe next time use one of apple's 2 different ways to back up your content on a regular basis as suggested by pretty much every apple thing out there. its there for a reason. not to just look pretty and confuse u.

  • IPhone4 stuck in recovery mode after iOS5 update

    Hi guys,
hope someone will be able to help.
I bought a second hand iPhone 4 from ebay and all was well when recieved.
However I then tried to update to iOS 5 a few days ago and iTunes said "an unkown error occured (-1)" during the restore and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode.
I took the phone to a local apple store where a genius told me that the phone had had a "dodgy" repair in the past and so they were unwilling to work on it.
I have tried many methods to exit recovery mode but none have worked.
I will be happy to even stay on iOS4 forever as long as I get my phone back and workable.
FYI, before the update to iOS 5 all updates  were succesful and never encountered a problem, the phone has never been jailbroke or hacked in any manor.
    PLEASE HELP!

Look what google found! Amazing how that works eh?

*Error 1604*: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the USB 30-pin dock-connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
    1. Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
    2. Restore and wait for error 1604.
    3. When prompted, click OK.
    4. Close and re-open iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
    5. iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    6. Try to restore again.

  • Printing from iphone/ipad does not work after ios5 upgrade

have a Brother HL-2140 that would print and show up as the "printer" when printing from an iPhone/iPad thru an Airport Extreme. Everything worked fine till upgrading to ios5 ... now the option for printing is replaced with an "no airprint printer found" ... meanwhile I can still print through the network wirelessly through multiple MacBook Pros and MacBooks around the house. I have re-installed the driver from the Bother website ... I have the Printer Sharing on ... the network allows wireless printing from laptops ... just NOT from iPhones and iPads.

Today's iOS 6.1 update fixed the printer problem.

  • Sync of iPad (1) to iTunes after iOS5 upgrade, getting "waiting for items to copy" message that hangs sync, lasts forever

I've seen this same problem in other posts, but the solutions seems suspect to me. People are seeing this on both Mac and Windows syncs. The "data" that is being sync'd seems to change for each person, and in fact is different each time I try. Sometimes it is "data" that is being sync'd, sometimes it is "Genius Data", sometimes something else. The common problem across platforms is that somewhere in the iPad sync process it gets "stuck" with the message "Waiting for items to copy". In my case, I ran this overnight -- for over 12 hours -- and the problem did not resolve.
Here is my situation: iPad1, just upgraded to iOS5. MacBook Pro just upgraded to 10.7.2. itunes 10.5. When I connect the iPad, iTunes does a synchronization automatically and seems to succeed up to the last step, in my case 8 of 8. Then, it "hangs" during synchronization. Sometimes it says it is Syncing Genius Data, sometimes it says something different. But, it always says "Waiting for items to copy" and then sits forever.
To terminate this I just eject the iPad and things seem to be working okay, but it is troublesome that the sync does not complete normally.

    Hi TD,
You solved my problem awhile ago and I didn't post a thank here.  So thank you!  I was having a problem with a PDF that kept rechecking itself.  It was not the User guide.  Anyway, I posted your solution on another discussion board and it has solved the issue for several people. Here's the link. My post is on the last page.  https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3391000
