IPad 1 Safari is crashing

My Safari has been crashing lately. Has something changed?

Nothing would have changed in Safari except as to how it relates to what is on your iPad. Have you tried any basic troubleshooting steps?
Quit all app scompletely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Or .... Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or clear Safari .... Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data (or cache ... depending on your iOS) Restart the iPad after you clear Safari.

I'd start by force quitting Safari and clearing the Safari cache:
    Double-click the Home button
Swipe left or right until you see Safari
Swipe UP on the app's preview to close it
    Click the Home button.
Go to the Settings on your iPad
    Tap the Safari sub-menu
Within the Safari menu, tap the "Clear Cookies and Data" button
In the pop-up window, tap "Clear"
    Hope this helps!

  • Safari is crashing since iOS update

My ipads Safari  keeps crashing every time I type something in the URL bar. This started happening after I updated to iOS 8 (iOS 8.01 as well). Is anyone else having this Issue, if so, was it Resolved?

Having the same issue to the point of ihaving to.nstall Google chrome.  Tried all the suggestions including a complete wipe and restore, and it continues to happen on IOS 8.0.2. It doesn't happen continuiously but when first using safari coming out of a locked screen. Our other iPad, which is a year older is losing sound, that requires a reboot only to fix.

  • Safari keeps crashing on ipad - how to resolve?

I have a 1st gen iPad with all OS software and app software updated to the latest versions and Safari will not open - every time I start the app, it crashes immediately.  I've tried restoring the ipad to factory settings and then restoring from backup with no luck.  Also, any application that uses Safari (like youtube, maps, etc) crashes as well.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a resolution?

So I'm trying to repeat the experience today at home. Its perfect. I can load all sorts of sites like cnn and wunderground that other people over at http://ipad.bigresource.com/Safari-keeps-crashing-g9DKUt5Lu.html are reporting crash safari. I've loaded and played the ipod, load photos and maps and buzzed around all over the place and its rock solid, lots of multitasking and its now OK, Touch wood..
I wonder if its the 3G network when I'm on thre train travelling - that's when it occurs mostly.
Ah ha Facebook just crashed. When I go back to Safari Facebook it does not recall that I was logged on a minute ago, but it does recall my email. Lets try again.
If I click on a friends name to go to their page CRASH. Reload and I'm not logged in any more ! Cookie issue ?
This time I'll try "keep me logged in" option......clicked on Friend again CRASH
Reload - empty Safari screen appears CRASH... Reload same CRASH. Reload - all previous pages are gone.
Facebook, it loads and I'm logged in - Keep option works.Click on Friends OK.
Seems to be with multiple pages open.. lets try 6 pages open no worries.
Loading lots of applications and again it is fine !!!

Your iPad needs access to the internet via Wi Fi or 3G in order to access the App Store.
Tap the App Store icon in your iPad.
In the search field top right in the App Store window type in:
ipad user guide for ios 4.3. Tap Free / Get Book
As for Safari on your Mac crashing, you can start a new topic and post a crash report so we can try and help.
Click New / Discussion. Select Safari.
    Refine This LIst. Select Mac.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply.
If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Safari could be crashing due to third party unsupported  add ons. Follow the troubleshooting instructions here.

  • IPad 1 safari keeps crashing!!!!

I have had an apple iPad 1st generation and safari keeps crashing. I have deleted cookies, restarted it, stop apps running in the background and still crashes, very VERY frustrating and I am not paying £500 for a product to behave like this!

Try restoring the device now. If closing all apps and clearing Safari doesn't work, I think that's your next step. Make sure that you backup first so that you can restore from the backup.

  • Safari keeps crashing on my iPad!

Safari keeps crashing and I lose all my stored data. It happens very often...at least a hundred times in the last two weeks. I wonder if Apple is aware if this issue on their iPad? I am not running any apps, just one window in Safair. What gives Apple?

You aren't talking to Apple here. This is a user to user technical help forum.
It is possible that Safari has a bug in handling the web site that you are using. If this is the case then you will constantly have problems with that site. If so, report the problem to Apple at http:// www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Some troubleshooting things that you could try are:
Restarting your iPad, resetting your iPad, clearing cookies and data in Safari, etc.

  • Safari keeps crashing on my iPad, especially on Facebook. Anyone else?

Anyone having safari constantly crashing, especially on Facebook and some games.

If you have the original iPad and you are running iOS 5.1.1, there might now be a whole lot that you can do about it. It seems that for some users, the update to iOS 5.1.1 wasn't kind to their iPads. I still have an original iPad running iOS 5.1.1 that my daughter uses now, it is running fine for her.
If you want to know about a couple of other good browsers, check out iCab Mobile, Mercury and Atomic .. As well as Chrome, Dolphin, Opera Mini and Bing for iPad. My personal favorite is iCab Mobile but I am using it on the iPad 3 running iOS 6.0.1. IMO - iOS 5.1.1 stretched the original iPad to its limits and I have seen a number of users reporting low memory issues with the original iPad and iOS 5.1.1.
If you haven't tried this for the issue with Safari, give it a shot.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
BTW ... I assume that you are aware of the fact that there is a FaceBook app in the App Store.

  • IOS7 iPad Safari crashes when trying to open new tab

I recently upgraded to iOS 7 on my iPad with retina display.  When using Safari every time I click the + to launch a new tab or page! Safari crashes.  I was hoping the 7.0.3 update would fix this but no luck.  Help!

Opening a new tab in Safari will display the Favorites view.  A poster on this thread changed their Favorites folder in Settings to make Safari stop crashing (in this case, on launch):
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23503572?ac_cid=tw123456#23503572
Try launching Settings app, then tapping Safari, then tapping the "Favorites"item in the "General" section, then changing which folder it points to.  This will change the bookmarks that are displayed when opening a new tab, which may work around whatever issue is causing Safari to crash.

  • Captivate 7 Project Crashing iPad Safari

I have a particular slide in my HTML5-published Captivate 7 project that repeatedly crashes my 2nd generation iPad's browser (Safari).
The slide contains 18 png images (total size <3mb), nine text entry boxes and 9 click boxes. Shuffling some of the content along the timeline to stagger the amount that loads simultaneously helps the slide to load without crashing but as soon as I tap one of the hotspots the browser crashes again.
It seems like a memory issue on the iPad and I was wondering whether anyone else had encountered, and overcome a similar issue and how they did it?
This is a major concern for me as these are basic things that I am trying to achieve and it seems as though I'm spending more time trouble shooting my content than actually developing it at the moment.
    Thanks.

I've been carrying out further tests based on my post above and have a few more details.
The items that seem to be causing the problems are nine individual groups, each containing an image, an image button, a text caption and three smart shapes. None of the groups are set to be visible on output and are shown using an advanced action (show) that is attached to one of nine click boxes on the slide. Once a group has been shown it can be hidden again by clicking the image button within the group, again using an advanced action (hide).
To test that this was the cause of the issue I first removed all of the hidden groups from the page and published the project. Safari on my iPad didn't crash when there were no hidden groups.
Next I gradually added one group at a time back in to my project, finding that it didn't crash with five hidden groups but it did with any more.
I hope that this is of some interest and that there might soon be a way to get around this. Personally I think that the addition of a popup slidelet that is native to captivate might be the way forward.
Although the post I'm linking to here started off discussing rollover slidelets there is some discussion relating to pop ups towards the end: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4663740#4663740

  • IPad 1 will not update past iOS 5.1.1, many apps require iOS 6.0 or later. also since updating to 5.1.1 safari frequently crashes.

My IPad 1 will not update past iOS 5.1.1, however many apps require iOS 6.0 or later what can I do?
Also, since updating to 5.1.1 Safari frequently crashes.  Help!!!!!!

5.1.1. is the end of the line for the original iPad. You can't go beyond that. As for the safari crashes, is it tied to specific websites? Have you tried clearing the cache and history?
