IPad 1 -  VGA adapter

I have the iPad 1 and would like to hook it up to a projector to view a ppt presention.  WIll the apple VGA adapter support this?

I have since confirmed that my iPad is sending video to the VGA Adapter as I have successfully connected an NEC MultiSync monitor to the output and it is displaying video.
Can anyone tell me what refresh rate that the iPad is using when output is from the iPad Dock connector to VGA Adapter? My television specs claim that it will handle
1024x768 @ 60Hz
1024x768 @ 70Hz
1024x768 @ 75Hz
Yet, I'm not able to get the TV to detect the signal.
Since I believe this worked with this hardware in the past, is it possible that the output refresh could have changed?
Thanks,
Tom Evans

  • I want to use multiple iPads as external monitors from a PC using the iPad VGA adapter (wired)

I want to send a VGA signal to a couple of iPads using them as monitors. I currently use a pair of regular 13" VGA 1024x768 lcd monitors looping thru an LCD projector displaying the same signal sent to the projector.
I want to use the iPad VGA adapter and WIRE them in just like a convention LCD monitor. Yes there are apps like air display and others but they don't allow cloning and have latency issues and must be networked. I need an app to use the VGA adapter and actually wire them in using a VGA signal from my existing VGA distrubution amp.
The size of the iPad is perfect for my application however I cannot find an app to let me send a signal into the iPad via VGA adapter.
    Any ideas?

  • IPad VGA adapter, picture is dull & pink connected to my projector

I'm having a problem with my VGA connector, and I desperately need a fresh point of view in this issue.
When I connect my iPad to my projector, the picture has a dull reddish, pinkish hue to it. This is true for everything- video app, Netflix, slideshows, etc.
    connection path:
    IPad -> Dock/VGA plug -> VGA cable -> VGA to DVI-A adapter -> Projector DVI-I input (both DVI-A and D)
When I remove my projector and DVI-I adapter from the equation, and plug the VGA cable into a computer monitor, everything looks great. Also, I've tried replacing my iPad in the equation with other computers that have a VGA output, and they all work with the DVI-A adapter and the projector.
So far, my assumption was that something was going on with the iPad and the DVI-A adapter, but I've tried three different adapters, and I get the same results.
    I'm completely stumped. Any ideas?

Late reply I know, but I was googling for iPhone pink VGA and landed here. I was curious if I was the only one. I had a chance to try an iPhone and VGA adapter with a number of displays and I have to say.... 16:9 VGA output on the iPhone blows chunks.
On a HP 23" display, it was totally confused about the resolution (it thought it was 1152*720) and tried to display it inset in a 1920*1080 display.... shifted badly to the right.
A Sony XBR LCD TV displayed it shifted badly up and to the left. Had to max out all video position controls to get it back to the middle.
A TV-One Scaler displayed everything in a dull pink, but at was centered properly on the display.
The only one that got it right was a Dell 4:3 LCD display. However the phone was putting out 1024*768, not 1280*720.
I don't think 16:9 output on the iPhone 4 was tested much.... if at all.

  • IPad VGA Adapter

    Hello All,
I have a problem with connecting iPad with my Philips TV (42PFL5405H/12) using VGA connector (Apple VGA Adapter).
Unfortunately, quality of picture on TV is not good as you can see on the pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/WojtekK...gCMvRuJeco812#
From Philips support page I received solution: "Please check the output format of your iPad. It must be set to RGB instead of YPbPr."
Thank you for any suggestion how I can change output format of my VGA Adapter to RGB.
    Regards,
    Wojtek

  • Apple VGA adapter for iPhone/iPad flakey

I have the Apple iPhone/iPad vga adapter through the 30 pin dock connector.
Works fine on my my iPad v3.2
Works fine on my wife's iPhone 4 v4.1
Complains incompatible device on my iPhone 4 v4.1
No amount of reboots fix the problem, it appears that one of the two iPhone 4's won't work with the VGA adapter.
Anyone else seen this or have a work around to make an Apple device work with an Apple adapter?
    Thanks

  • IPad VGA Output

Make sure you are not set to Work Offline in File menu.
There is a possibility that your connection dropped even briefly, more so if using wireless. Make sure Firefox is not set to "[v] Work Offline" in File menu just above Exit.
By default, Firefox 3.5 and 3.6 will automatically use offline mode if there is no network connection. Under certain conditions, after the connection is reestablished it may remain in offline mode without the user's knowledge. Firefox 4 and newer prevents this behavior by default. To prevent this behavior in versions 3.5 and 3.6, add an entry to the '''about:config''' options, as follows.
    * Type '''about:config''' in Location (address) bar
    * Right-click on the about:config page to open the right-click context menu and use "New > Boolean" to create a new Boolean preference. Name: '''network.manage-offline-status'''. Value: '''false'''

  • What is the difference between a VGA adapter and an AV adapter? Which would be better for my iPad 2 if I just wanted it for games and browsing the Internet?

If I just wanted to play games and surf the web, would a VGA adapter or an AV adapter be better? For my iPad 2? I asked my family for a VGA adapter for Christmas and I'm not too sure if it's the one I want. Also, what is the difference?

  • Lightning to VGA adapter doesn't work with Ipad Air

I have a Lightning to VGA adapter that I want to use with my Ipad Air and pc screen. When I connect it with my Ipad and the screen, on my ipad the blue bar appears but I don't get anything on my pc screen. I dit the same with my iphone 6 and that works perfect. Any idea what the problem could be?
    Both devices has IOS 8.3.
    Thanks in advance.

I have a similar problem to blueskoi. I have a lightning to HDMI Connector which no longer works on my iPad Air, however it still works fine on my wife's iPad 4.
The only difference I can find is that her iPad hasn't been updated to IOS 8.3, whereas my iPad Air has.
Is anybody else experiencing the same problem, or am I missing something?
I have done a full settings reset on my Air but that didn't resolve it.  I get the blue bar at the top of the screen and my TV Screen flashes, but then no signal appears,
Any help would be most gratefully received.

  • IPad 4 lightning to vga adapter, works but gets stuck in video out mode. I can't get it to switch back to mirroring without restarting it

I have an iPad 4 with an Apple lightning to vga adapter. (A1439)
It connects fine to my HDTV and projector for doing presentations and video etc.
But if I do show any video on it, e.g. full screen a video from within Chrome, Safari, the apps for Youtube etc.
or if I do a presentation using Keynote, it locks into working as an extended second screen.
It shows the controls for the video on the iPad and the video on the external screen, which is what I would expect. But then if I exit the video or complete the presentation, the external screen continues to show the last frame of the video or presentation. Even if I close the app.
I can't get back to using it in mirroring mode without shutting it down and restarting.
Surely I am just missing something.
I've tried force closing the apps that I use, switching between them, starting up new ones etc.
    But no luck.
There doesn't seem to be a setting anywhere that I can change.
    Any suggestions?

The same thing happened to me. After the big update, I also experienced exactly what you described. I ended up restoring the ipad a number of times.
The first few times, I restored from a back-up. The last few times I have restored the ipad as new. It would work the next few times I turned the machine on, and around the third time, it would lapse back into the recovery mode, with
the image of the serial cord connecting to an i-tunes logo on its desktop. This morning, I restored the ipad as new, but only allowed the apps manufactured by Apple to be synced back onto the ipad. I have powered it back on about three times, and so far, so good. I am waiting to see what happens the next few times I turn the machine on.
I had a very helpful senior Apple express advisor help me on Sunday to do the restore as a new ipad procedure. He said that if that did not work, the next step was having it serviced. He also mentioned that often the third party apps have problems due to getting corrupt and this often happens after a major update. That is why I thought i'd try and see what would happen if I only synced the Apple apps back onto the ipad.
It is not good though if I can't put third party applications on it without having the problem of lapsing into recovery mode, so I may have to get it serviced. I am wondering how many others have had this problem after the big update last week? Also, has anyone who was an early purchaser and got the flat-rate unlimited data plan subscription from AT&T, had to have their ipad replaced? Was there a problem with AT& T still allowing you to continue your special subscription plan?

  • Apple VGA Adapter, with iPad 1, OS 4.3 upgrade and Data Projector?

    Hi,
Our school is testing a number of iPads, and I will be buying a iPad 2 on the 25th March. I would like to test my iPad 1 with the Apple VGA Adapter and my data projector in my classroom. (All Apps)
In the past the Apple VGA adapter did not mirror the apps, however the Apple site now has a link to mirror technology with the VGA Adapter.
I could buy the Apple Digital AV Adaptor (HDMI) but would then need to find a HDMI to VGA convertor to connect to my data projector.
I would love to show my students Garage Band on my projector, but need the correct cables.

I know this thread isnt that recent but the answer can be found when you look at the VGA adapter product page mention in an earlier post:
"The Apple VGA Adapter mirrors exactly what you see on iPad 2 so that everyone in the room can enjoy it.
The Apple VGA Adapter supports video out (only) for iPad, iPhone 4, or iPod touch (4th generation)."
So there you have it - only video out is supported on the original iPad / iPhone 4 / iPad Touch.

See the following. Also take note below and from the linked page above that video mode is NOT supported:

  • VGA Adapter for iPad

Help. I built a photo presentation on my iPad using the Keynote app. yesterday I stopped into the Apple store and picked up a VGA Adapter so I could view the presentation via projector. I can't seem to get it to work. The projector works with my laptop, but not the iPad. Any ideas out there?

I would troubleshoot by trying out a monitor rather then the projector
then I would try using apps I know to support the adaptor like video and youtube and pictures and the likes
and see where that lead me
