IPad 2 won't receive mail

Ever since I updated the IOS to 6.1 I cannot send or receive mail, though the same .mac account works perfectly on my iMac and iPhone. Any ideas why this has happened? Any suggestions? I turned off the router but this had no effect.

  • Mail 5.2 won't receive mail.

In Mail Preferences I'm trying to set the default reader to Mail 5.2 but it keeps changing back to Outlook 14.1.4. How can I stop this happening. I updated to Lion yesterday and can't receive mail. Sending is OK but nothing incoming. Any suggestions?

Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy – do not type – the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    chmod -R -N ~
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. When a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) appears below what you entered, it’s done. You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
    sudo !!
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
Next, boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the recovery desktop appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • I dropped my 3G phone yesterday and since then it won't receive mail.  says user name or password is incorrect.  I've checked in settings and re-entered the correct (I think) information and it still doesn't work.  I removed then replaced the sim card.

I dropped my phone yesterday and now can't receive mail.  I removed and then replaced the sim card.  I've restarted the phone.  It says the user name or password is incorrect.  I re-entered the correct information (I think) and I've also synced it with my computer.  Nothing works.  Help!

Delete the email account and re-enter it from scratch.

  • HT4199 On my iPad I can receive mail but cannot forward to anyone.

I can receive mail but cannot send any.

    go to
Settings > Mail > your account > Outgoing Mail Server > Primary Server > Password
and put your password in here.
If this does not immediately solve your problem, then check out the other outgoing settings against what your email service provider requires.

  • Ipad won't receive email, but can send

My ipad has suddenly stopped receiving emails for my main account.   I can send emails ok.   Have checked the mail settings against my iPhone, which are the same.   Ipad is 8.1.2, iPhone is 7.1.   Tried rebooting, deleting and recreating email account.   Any ideas ?
    Thanks
    Rob

I am having the exact same issue.  No changes that I am aware of that would cause this.  even if Fetch were set, as soon as you swipe down on mail, it should load.  But it looks for mail and then shows nothing new.  At the bottom it states the last time mail was received (for me it was only a few hours ago).  Just like Mintok above, I have reset iPad, deleted and re added email acct.  I have 2 email accounts, both with Yahoo.  My other account works just fine.  My email also works just fine on my iPhone and computer.  It also works when I go through the internet to access the yahoo mail.  Just my iPad and just the one account and only with receiving emails).  I did change password just in case.  but it says it connects, it just won't download to that very specific email account.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. • Emails received on iPad only when PC is off.  When PC is on, iPad does not receive mail.

Is this a PC setting ? or an iPad setting.
Email is received ok on iPad but only when PC is OFF.
If both are ON... only PC receives.

    Hey docj452,
Thanks for the question. It sounds like your email account is setup with POP:
Using a POP account with more than one device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3228
When using the same POP email account on more than one device, email messages may appear only on the first device that receives them. This occurs when an email client is configured to automatically remove email from the server after an email client has received it.
If your email service provider offers IMAP, you may want to look into configuring to use it:
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol (set of rules) for retrieving email messages from a mail server. If you set up your email account to use IMAP, your messages are stored on a server—instead of being downloaded to your computer—so that you can access the same messages from multiple devices.
POP (Post Office Protocol) is a different protocol in which messages are deleted from the server when you read them.
    via iCloud: IMAP

    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • TS3899 My iPad won't download mail after password change

I recently changed my password on hotmail. Since then my hotmail account won't download any emails after 2011. when I use the. Ail app on my iPad it says I have 97 emails to download, 14 new emails. I've deleted the account. I've turned off the iPad. I've done a reset using the home button and off button. Nothing! Help!,

When you changed your password did you change it on hotmail, via safari....for example, went to hotmail.com, signed into your hotmail, followed the password changing protocols. Then go into your iPad's settings and your hotmail account and changed the password to match?
When you deleted your account info off your iPad did you use the outlook preset when you added it back in?
