IPad 3 charging adapter not supported.

I'm trying to charge my iPad 3 (wifi only) using the A/C charging adapter that came with the iPad, but I get the message "This accessory may not be supported." Why am I getting this message? The battery icon at the top of the screen says "Not charging.", or shows the battery level in white, as opposed to green when charging. The iPad still charges under these conditions, but very slowly.

There were some iPhone fires caused by off-brand cables and Apple was blamed.  IOS-8 ensures that only approved cables will be used.  However, it appears that it has been incorrectly identifying true Apple cables as non-approved!
If your cable is not Apple, your only option is to replace it with an Apple cable.  If you do have an Apple cable, you need to contact Apple support - 800-275-2273 in the U.S.A. and I think Canada.  If an Apple Store is convenient for you, a visit there is probably a better solution (there is no charge)

  • HT5012 Ipad 2 hdmi adapter not supported via Netflix

I am using an ipad 2 with updated iOS 7.0.6. Whenever I try to stream my netflix app via the 30pin hdmi adapter it will pop up with an error stating that the adapter is not supported. Please help!!

Using a generic 10ft HDMI cable for the IPad2 with the HDMI adapter from Apple is working for me (destination is .  On occasion it loses the audio.  Stopping and starting the video player usually brings the audio back.  The audio sometimes works at first and then randomly fails.  I suspected imperceptible movement between the stiff HDMI cable, the adapter, and IPad2.  Securing the wires to relieve strain relative to the IPad2 appears to have helped, but that means the device cannot be moved around freely.  (Why audio would drop instead of high bandwidth video or both signals, I have no idea.)

  • Charging is not supported with this accessory iPhone 5 and lighting adapter

I just received my 30 pin lighting adapter for my iPhone 5 and connected it to my existing BMW (2008 335i) factory 30 pin cable.
The battery changes to the charge symbol for a few seconds and then I get a error on my phone that says "charging is not supported with this accessory".
Other than that I am able to search and play music from my phone through my car's audio system without isssue.
I have had this car for 4 years and used it with my 3rd generation iPod touch without issue. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing
charging issues with the new adapter and their exisiting setups,

I purchased the following adapter from Amazon for my 2009 335i, and all functions (including charging) work fine on my iPhone 5:

My USB charger is not supporting while i am connecting from PC to iPad for charging (showing as " Not Charging"), Kindly advice me

    Hi Folks,
I have tried most of what have been said here ( thank you for the great Job) but unforunatally it didn't solve the issue.
However, now the "Not Charging" message in the right corner disappeared and my iPad is charging normally from my laptop.
The reason behind that is using the USB3.0 port in my Dell inspiron N5110. Earlier, I was using the USB 2.0  ports and that is why it was showing that message but as sooon as I pluged it in the eSATA USB 3.0 port , the message disapeared and the iPad started charging normally.
So don't waste ur time here and there try to plug it to USB 3.0 port and it will works, Insha ALLAH.
    Cheers

  • My iPad 5 will not charge, I get the message " CHARGING IS NOT SUPPORTED WITH THIS DEVICE

I get the message " CHARGING IS NOT SUPPORTED WITH THIS DEVICE. I've checked different cables and chargers ( from our other iPad 5, and cleaned the port, but it won't charge plugged into the computer or ghargers.

If charging will not work with valid cables and chargers and the Lightning port is clear, there is likely a hardware issue.  Take the iPad to an Apple store genius bar and have it tested by the techs.

  • What does this message mean Charging is not supported with this device?

What does this message mean Charging is not supported with this device?

You've gotten 2 good answers already, but there's a key assumption in both that you got the message when connecting the iPhone to some other device. If this is the case you can get an adapter in the Apple online store that will allow charging from older devices.
If, however, this message appears when you are not connected to anything the problem is dirt or moisture in the dock connector at the bottom of the phone. Clean it with a dry toothbrush or air blast.

  • My iPod touch 4G suddenly pops up with 'charging is not supported with this accessory' no matter what cord or source I use. It worked fine for months before this. What can I do?

This is crazy!  I love my iPod but it suddenly has a charging issue. Please HELP! I had absolutely no problem charging it for 7 or 8 months. Then last week I started getting an error message every time I try to charge it. I used to be able to charge it through my PC, PS3, wall adapter or car adapter. Now I get this message no matter where I try to charge it or with what cord! It says, 'charging is not supported with this accessory'. It happens after about 3-5 min of charging. Then I have to unplug it and plug it back in to keep charging it!  How or why did this happen and how do I fix it?

If you did not do a reset of your iPod please try that (you will not lose any data)
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If this does not work inspect the opening in your iPod where the cable connects. Look for any debris and clean it (a magnifying glass may be required).

Try cleaning out the phone's port, of pocket fluff and such. Carefully. And check the mains adapter similarly, but less likely.

  • Why charger saying not supported when it is a genuine apple charger

Why charger saying not supported when it is a genuine apple charger

Do you mean the AC wall adapter or the cable when you say "charger"? Neither is a charger; the charger is built into the phone. You need to do some basic troubleshooting. First, try a different cable with the same AC adapter. Then try a different USB source such as the USB port on your computer. If you get the same message after both tests the problem lies in the phone. The most common cause of this message is dirt, moisture or pocket lint in the lightning connector on the bottom of the phone. Inspect it with a bright light and clean it with a plastic or wood toothpick. If none of these steps resolve the problem take the phone, cable and adapter to an Apple store for diagnosis. Make an appointment first: http://concierge.apple.com/reservation/us/en/techsupport/
Note: You should register the iPhone on Apple's website first, if it isn't already registered: https://supportprofile.apple.com/. This will speed up the appointment process.

  • AV adapter not supported?

I bought the apple av adapter today for my iPad. As soon as I plug it in, a message comes up on the iPad that says " accessory not supported by iPad". Which makes no sense at all. Help!

Suggest you get it replaced. Bring your iPad there to check replacement.

  • Charging Is Not Supported With This Accessory...Yeah...Right...Whatever...Liars!

I have been up, down and all over and keep seeing the same replies although I don't believe it's dust or moisture in the connector or that the USB is going bad.  I have had my ipad 1 for two years.  No issues.  I purchased an iPhone 4 mid-summer this year.  All of a sudden within a week or so of using the original cable I began to get the following message "charging is not supported with this accessory".
Now, I used the cord that came with it which should not have gone bad within a week or so.
Since then, and only since then, I am beginning to have the same issue with my iPad which I NEVER had issues with before.
Also, I have purchased at least ten USB cords and adaptors.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY REAL IDEA ABOUT THIS ISSUE??
I've always been a PC person and I was considering switching over to MAC until this.  I know Apple knows about this especially with all of the posts on APPLES's forum regarding this issue.  I'm really...really ****** that Apple would take advantage of its customers this way.  I'm not crazy.  Every reply offers the same suggestions yet, with the issues I have and in the order in which I've experienced them, the suggestions don't fit.
Some manufacturers consider the deaths their product will cause as a cost of doing business.  They figure settlements for the deaths are very small compared to the profit margin.  Apple has figured in this "possible" loss of customers as a cost of doing business.  Since this issue doesn't happen to everyone, or at least not enough people, a bandwagon can't get going.  So they figure there will be a few (thousands) of issues regarding the error "charging is not supported with this accessory," although it's Apple's accessory.  But not enough to make Apple pay attention!  Classic capitalism!
My freakin’ expensive iPad is one large glorified coaster!  Can you believe it?!  An $800 coaster!

Thanks for response. Do you work for Apple? For months I've been on the board searching for answers and this is the very first time I've ever come upon such a response that offers something new, as well as previous suggestions.
"It does this when is senses abnormal input to device or the Chip itself is faulty."
I would consider this if my iPad hadn't started this once I brought the iPhone home. If the chip is faulty or the port is dirty...iPad two years old...could be...iPhone brand new...I don't think so.
"...as stated "accessory is not supported or faulty""
Brand new cord(s)...Apple cords...how is it Apple cords don't support Apple products?
"The USB Cable connecting the devices is faulty..."
    Again, brand new cord(s)
"...or the device charging port is shorting either due to dirt or damage."
Too much of a coincidence. Two year old iPad, without any previous issues, and a brand new iPhone...???
    "Dirt can be cleaned..."
Too much of a coincidence. How much dirt can a new iPhone have?
"...replacement of charging dock assembly...Power Management Chip is faulty..."
Again, no previous issues with iPad until iPhone. Same issue on two different devices, one older and one new. Doesn't make sense.
"Replacement of the chip requires microsoldering skills."
    "I shouldn't need them."

    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with power adapter not supported by your Lenovo Y50-70 laptop.
Try to reinstall the power management as this might resolve the issue, if still the issue persist then check for the pins as it might have been damaged.

  • Charging is not supported by my Laptop

Have an iPhone 3GS saying "Charging is not supported by this accessory" its connected to my laptop, laptop is syncing information so why can't iPhone not see that my laptop can charge my iPhone.

My last post was censored. So let's try this one. I am glad you are not having this issue, unfortunately one phone working does not negate the fact that others are not.
My only comment was to yours that +It is well documented that apple has added software code to impede the use of 3rd party cables and connections.+ It is not well known at all, and is untrue. Early iPhones had a problem with some cables that caused the phone to be fried. Apple redesigned the interface to prevent this, and added a signal to test that the cable was safe. They published the specification for the required cable so 3rd party manufacturers could make safe cables.
There are multiple threads in the support forums of people reporting issues with charging after upgrading to OS4.
Yes, there are. And these problems need to be fixed. But the best way to achieve that is to take the phone to Apple. It is far from a universal problem; universal problems have thousands of messages and threads, the number of reports of this problem is so small that it is likely that it is a defect in the specific phones affected, possibly minor manufacturing variations between lots or different components in the phone. But it is not the sort of thing that can be fixed by the owner.
From the ones I have read here are some of the recomendations:
    1) check and clean all contacts
    2) Do a full reload of the phone
This is good advice. Also try a different cable and different charger.
If anyone else has anything that has worked for them would appreciate any input on this. It's been getting progresively worse.
The phone charges fine on all my adapters if I turn it off while it is connected.
This is a hint at the problem with your phone. When you say "all adapters" does that include the mains adapter the phone came with, or only with computer ports? It is observable that some computers cannot supply enough current to charge the phone while it is in use either as a phone or while transmitting data. In these cases one possible cause can be a runaway app that is consuming more power than the adapter can supply. But this should never be the case with the Apple mains adapter.

  • Charging is not supported by this accessory

I went to plug my new iPod Touch 2G into my trucks iPod adapter and got the message "Charging is not supported by this accessory." It worked fine with my 1st Gen. iPod, but not with this one. This is some BS. Apple needs to fix this. People shouldn't have to go out and buy all new accessories just so their iPod can get charged. Luckily my brand new Logitech docking station/speakers charges it just fine. From what I read, other people are having this problem as well with almost all the accessories. I put in a suggestion to Apple to fix this, but we all know how that goes....

That is the problem right there...
"Apple told third party manufacturers they were phasing this out two years ago...."
What Apple should have done is realize that their customers pay a premium for their products and might have a large investment in legacy accessories that range across multiple product lines such as docks, clock radios, speakers, car solutions, etc. and maybe it would be in the best interest of Apple's customers to continue to support charging over Firewire.
See, the problem is not that things evolve over time and become obsolete, they do, the problem is, that Apple is not putting the customer first.
Don't get me wrong, love the products, but this change was in really poor form much like locking out the video from legacy products last generation.
