IPad 3 - iOS 6 - Camera Connection Kit - SD Reader photo import not working

I'm currently trying to import photos taken today of my son's birth and its just not working. The photos pop up like normal when I attach the reader with an SD card installed, but when I try to import one or multiple images all I get is a pinwheel.
Has anyone else had any luck with the kit under iOS 6?

I can't import vertical photos to my iPad using the camera connection kit. Horizontal photos import fine, but verticals have a red exclamation mark, and do not import. Help!?

I have the same problem and apple needs to fix this - but in the mean time you can manually select the vertical photos then "import - import selected" and you can get your verticals. We need a better fix. THIS IS A BUG!

• Ipad 2 IOS 7 Camera Connection Kit Not Working

I have Ipad 2 and Apple Camera Connection Kit. Since update to IOS 7 it has not worked. I have tried everything suggested on the boards but it still does not work.

I'm surprised this worked at all. I gather the camera connection kit was intended as input only.
1) You could try the app...

There are other of these apps around that work on devices not supported by AirDrop.
2) You can downgrade to ios 8.2.
For a limited time Apple will allow you to downgrade to the previous release. Hurry do not wait.

Thanks Fred. The nearest Apple store is about two hours away, so we did the next best thing & took it to Best Buy. It stumped the "Apple Guy" there. Apparently when an Apple product is turned on it works. Period. I'm impressed that the products are normally so dependable--it just stinks that I got the one in a million that's not. Anyway, now we wait for a service call Tuesday morning. Thanks again!

• Camera Connection Kit and MIDI keyboard: device not supported

I have a Roland RD-700SX stage piano and would like to be able to play sounds from my iPad 2 synth app (Sunrizer) via the real keyboard. Got the camera connection kit and plugged into the Roland, but the iPad tells me the RD device is not supported. How do I get it supported?
I've read that there may be issues with iOS 8 (I have 8.1.2). Is that truly the case?

After the original introduction of the iPad 2, Apple reduced to power levels of the 30 pin connector so as to severely limit the type of USB peripherals that can be used with iPads. There is no way, any longer, to use a USB device that draws too much power from iPad's that use the 30-pin connector.
I am not sure if that is still true of newer iPad's that use the Lightning type connector, but you can NOT use any high power USB device with any iPad OR any other older iDevice that uses the older 30-pin connector.
This is NOT an IOS issues or limitation, but a hardware limitation.

• IPad 2, iOS 8.0.2, Apps stop responding, Touch-screen not working

I recently updated to iOS 8.0.2 for my iPad 2, 64GB, it is not going well so far.
Right now I cannot read my books, I can't look at my accounts, the main screen is working with touch, however, if I open an app it's as though touching the screen does not work anymore. The iOS looks great, it works good on my phone, but has ruined the use on my iPad! I have removed anything I don't need on it, I've restarted it (hard and soft), it's synced, I've removed all photos, there is a ton of memory right now.
Is there any fixes out there? Anyone else having the same issues?

I am so royally ****** at Apple. And trust me, there will be a backlash because I pay top dollars to Apple for their vaunted customer experience not for making life miserable for their customers - countless hours wasted trying all the solutions discussed but problem remains. Bottomline, iOS 8 is the worst software upgrade I have encountered. IOS 7 made devices slow but this update is making them unusable. There is another issue that I have encountered on multiple devices - iCloud login not getting registered and iPad asking for password multiple times.
FIrst my iPad 2 was upgraded to iOS 8.0 which made it slow then iPad mini was updated to iOS 8.0 and that seem to be working fine. Then latest version of iPad mini was updated and it has driven my father-in-law nuts by repeatedly asking for iCloud login even after the password has been changed but it stilol does not accept it and has made FaceTime and iMessage pretty much unusable. Then we updated both the above devices to iOS 8.0.2 and now both the devices are unusable because touch screen is so slow that it has made the devices unusable, typing is painfully slow in many apps.
Apple - what have you done! Are you listening? Do you have a solution or you have condemned thousands of users to their plight.
An extremely frustrated and angry loyal Apple user who is starting to question his loyalty.

• Camera connection kit not working iOS 8.3 on iPad 2

Our camera connection kit is not working with the recent iOS 8.3 update on our iPad 2s. It works fine on iOS 8.2, but once an iPad is updated to iOS 8.3, it no longer can import from that iPad 2. It is not the switch on the adapter because it works fine on iOS 8.2. We cannot use AirDrop because it doesn't work on the iPad 2s.Currently we are just using DropBox, but would l

• Problem with camera connection kit and IOS 5

Since I upgraded my IPAD 2 to IOS 5 camera connection kit is no longer working properly:
- when importing from a given CF card for the first time camera connection kit it is working with my camera (Canon EOS 7D)
- however, as soon as i take additional photos on a non-empty CF card, things start getting weird when importing:
- duplicates are no longer reliably recognized (some of the photos imported before are indicated as duplicates others not), hence an incremental upload of photos is no longer viable
- some RAW photos are corrupted during import (it shows an "RAW" icon in the photo app, but no preview and the photo cannot be enlarged)
I never had such problems with IOS 4.x I'm really frustrated about IOS 5.0 since camera conenction kit and the ability to deal with RAW photos were my main reasons to buy an IPAD...
Anybody experiencing similiar problems? Any viable workarounds?
Thanks
Claudio

Friend, you say "The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces)" What if one has several hundred photos/files. Renameing them on my computer each 8 characters long adds an extension (1), (2), (3), and so on. For example, "JUNE2014(1). The connection kit won't read the photos due to the extra (1). How can I fix this without having to rename each of the hundreds of photos one by one?
Thank you, Cisco.

• Will the camera connection kit work with the iPhone 4s and iOS 5?

I haven't been able to find anything in the forum regarding the iphone 4S / iOS 5 and the camera connection kit; did any of the developers work with this piece of hardware when testing iOS 5, if you aren't allow to answer I understand, I'll just find out for myself on Friday.....

grrr...i love apple products, but that the camera connection kit does not work with an iphone 4(s) make me angry about some apple philosophies. it is a good example of user restrictions from apple which make me feel like i am in a kindergarten.
that the camera connection kit does not work with my iphone, makes no sense to me.
hardware quite the same like ipad, nice screen with balanced colors (iphone looks good compared to my calibrated eizos) and screen size more than enough to do some basic edits.
would be great sometimes to import and post/email photos from my camera, when i am on the road.
i do not always want to carry the ipad with me.

• Ipad Camera connection kit problem with SD card

I have a gen3 ipad and have the camera connection kit which consists of 2 connectors. 1 is usb and the other is SD card. The usb when hooked to camera works just fine but the SD adater does not see any sd card I put in.

The SD reader will only see photos on the card if they are formatted in a specific manner. A top level folder named DCIM and all files need to have a 8 character name.
Have you tried to take photos on the card then try to read them with the CCK?
