Ipad air using iOS 8.1.1 refuses to mirror or use airplay. Same problem with iPhone 5c.

I use an iPad Air to deliver keynote presentations via Airplay using Apple TV. Did this a few months ago no problems. Tried yesterday to deliver a presentation iPad refuses to mirror/airplay. Both are on same wifi - signal is good. Select tick box for airplay (mirroring tab is selected) but nothing happens! After barely a few seconds tick box jumps and selection is removed. Tried hundreds of times same result. Have tried powering down and re-staring all the equipment no joy. Restarted router no joy. Interesting to note have same problem with iPhone 5C (and 4S which is still on IOS 7). Any help gratefully received. Thank you.

By accident solved my own problem. Apple TV and iPad were working on the same wifi network, close to the router, with a strong signal. That signal is boosted to the far corners of the house via a network based on the Airport Extreme & Express units. Perversely Airplay & mirroring only works when picking up that weaker wifi signal via a different channel! Now to see if a similar solution works for the iPhones.

A free app called Fing will tell you what devices are connected to your network and what IP addresses they are using. Rebooting/resetting each of your devices will probably resolve things.

I haven't gotten a new sim card because the problem has been presenting itself in various cards not only mine. So far, all I've done is reset my network settings.
Last night, I turned off the 3G tab and it had all the signal bars. Today, I did the network reset and it's working apparently. But like I said before, previously the bars just disappear and the iphone only has the 3G activated.

Using the same keyboard with iPhone and MacMini. Neat!

So Folks,
I bought a wireless kb and it works with both my iPhone and my mac. (not at the same time of course).
This is how you can do it too:
1) Sync the kb with the iPhone first
2) Turn off the phone's BT and sync the kb with your Mac.
3) Whenever the computer is off, you can press the KB power button to use it with the iPhone
4) To use the kb with your mac, turn off the iPhone's BT. Press the KB power button while you start your computer. (You can turn the iPhone's BT on again as soon as the kb begins to work with the Mac).
5) You can repeat steps 3 or 4 at will. So two devices one kb. Neat!

A BT device may only be connected to one thing at a time. To switch to another device, one needs to delete it from the one it is currently connected to.

Unless something has changed, you can't. The iPad has limited ability to make repeats. However if you make the custom repeats in another program you can send them to or import them into your calendar and the iPad will respect the custom repeat.

Next, I would try restarting the iPhone -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -

After upgrading iPad Air to IOS 8.1 I get following problems

Since updating my iPad Air to IOS 8.1 Safari occasionally fails to render a page; sometimes it will do so after touching the screen, other times I have to try loading again. Another time it failed to render the whole screen and got stuck in a small viewport less than the screen size with black screen around it. Finally, Safari crashed with Blue Screen of Death on a simple touch gesture.
In writing this I am finding it difficult to use the insertion cursor to edit typos! Cursor jumps words so correcting spelling is very difficult.
Please address these serious quality flaws in the next point release.

I would love to find a solution to this problem, too. I have read various threads and tries what they suggested, namely:
turned off auto update for apps
tried to download one at a time from my 'purchased' area and not the update area
reset iPad Air
installed updates all the way to 8.0.2
Anyways, none of these worked. I can buy but not download new apps and I cannot update existing apps at all.
In the end, I've had to sideload via my laptop by updating on the laptop and synching. Not the end of the world, true, but something on the iPad is clearly broken by the iOS updata and nobody at Apple has offered any assistance.

I had the same problem. In the end I downloaded it manually. Here's the steps assuming you are on a Mac and have an iPad Air (Wifi). If not you can find other restore links here.
In the terminal (it kept failing to download in Safari):

Once the file has downloaded, move it to ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates/
Quit and relaunch iTunes.
Should now work for you.

Wifi and cellular dropping out on iPad air after iOS 8.02 update

I have recently updated my iPad air to 8.02 and ended up getting problems with wifi and cellular data being very sporadic at best. Took it to the Genius Bar and they replaced it thinking it was a hardware problem. Turns out it is not as it updated again and it is once again sporadic. I tend to find turning it off helps temporarily but always cuts out and needs to be put into airplane mode to reset the connection. Is anyone else having this problem....this is the 3 rd time I have tried to post this as it has cut out and the connection has been lost each time.
I did speak to a customer service advisor over the phone and she thought it may have been wifi and cellular competing but I have turned mobile data off and it is as bad as ever if not worse.

This is getting ridiculous. How long does it take to properly fix this issue. I have ipad air running IOS 8.02. I keep dropping wifi signal regularly throughout the day. I have tried everything to try and improve my connection but nothing has worked. Other products not running IOS 8.20 have a perfect sustained connection to my wifi so the firmware is definitely the issue. When are apple going to acknowledge and fix this issue that is affecting so many.
Roll on June because I'm done with Apple once and for all after many many years. No more iphone for me. Hopefully then I can receive calls without them going straight to voicemail, recieve texts quicker than an 8 hour delay and get voicemails quicker than 2 weeks later. Complete shambles and very poor customer service. Goodness only knows what those who rely on their phone/ipad for work are doing.
