IPad camera -problems with still shot, very grainy images indoors or atnight

Hello, I have the ipad 2 and am experiencing problems with the still camera shots (using the built in rear camera). The images are very grainy to such an extent that th ipad camera images are unusable when taken indoors (under full light), in early evening (under partial light) or at night (under normal indoor night lighting). I can not see any camera settings so not sure if this is a camera problem with my ipad2 or a more general problem with ipad 2 camera images. Any suggestions welcome as It means my iPad2 camera is effectively unusable

The cameras on the iPad won't produce the quality of photo that you'd get from a compact digital camera, and when the light isn't good there will be a noticeable graining. The cameras on the iPad are mainly for things such as FaceTime or for use in good light conditions - otherwise you'll get better results with a digital compact, or even something like an iPhone 4.

  • Problems with still frames blurring in Final Cut Express....

I have had problems with still frames blurring. I've discovered it's related to the green line above the time line on the sequence bar. I can't find the name of the bar but it's red if you need rendering. There are green lines and when the scrubber hits the line the frame goes blurry.
I'm guessing it's related to another previous attempt at adding motion to the still. My question, I think, is how to eliminate the green lines to the regular blue?

If there are any colored bars above your video other than the normal grey/light blue then you need to render the sequence out by hitting Option-R.

  • Problems with my Acrobat IX reading images

I have just started having problems with my Acrobat IX reading images.  I have now noticed that when I open up a PDF, the images are now blacked out with a black box. These are all documents that I have been able to read just fine in the past.  I have done some research online and have found others who are having the same problem but I cannot find a solution.  Some solutions I have found are to make sure on the printer settings that it reads large images which I have done and that it prints in color which I have also done.  When I print out the document, it prints just fine, I just cannot read it on the screen.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond but nope. unfortunately I have tried that a few times, both clicking and unclicking the view large images with no luck. Since I have Acrobat IX Adobe wont help me.  Any other suggestions? Should I just uninstall and reinstall this program?? When I Google this problem it appears that a lot of people are having this problem.

  • Camera problems with PureView 808

Ok, i saw a lot of people on the internet forums talking about the black picture problems, so i wanted to make a clear statement for the people in the developing center, and ask them to fix these issues asap, thus avoiding a serious humiliation...
So, the problem is most obvious when trying to make photos in bracketing(HDR) mode: at first i started experimenting with just normal settings, exposure compensation set at 0, ISO 50, bracketing mode: 3 images -2/+2. i shot a few pics indoors, and then in the open, when i started noticing the first two pictures have exactly the same exposure comp, and only the third one is actually with +2EV. OK, this problem you can sometimes (not always) solve by reseting the iso value back to auto, and then again back to the desired value(usually 50 or 100), BUT when you set the starting exposure compensation at something lower than 0 (i tried with -2 most of the times) it is inevitable getting first two pictures having the same exposure compensation, and sometimes even first two pictures being completely dark/black, and no, this is not supposed to happen with these settings, not even with -5 exp comp, and 50 ISO.
The next problem is similar to this one: when in creative mode, normal setting(still image), sometimes what you get when not putting ISO setting to AUTO is, again, completely dark pic, you dont even have to put ISO sensitivity to a high number (which is against logic: high ISO number would mean brighter image), as some people on the forums have said, but you can put it to 50 (the one I use the most) and again get the completely black picture. Resetting the ISO to auto and back to desired value again helps in this occation...
And the last conplainment from me for now(camerawise): SOMETIMES chaning the exposure compensation (in real time) on the slider (on touchscreen) doesnt actually do anything, viewfinder is showing the exact same picture on the display, and histogram is not showing any changes.
HOWEVER, there is an app i downloaded called CameraPro, which doesnt have any of these problems at all!!! It works perfectly well, but the problem is the user interface, there is no option for saving your own preset, as in original factory camera app on the PureView 808 (C1, C2, and C3 in creative mode), so it takes a lot of precious time making the best setting possible (avoiding the auto mode).
PLEASE NOKIA, or anyone competent enough give me solution for this(software update with bug fix)

Suggest you look here http://onlyfoolsandmobiles.com/  and Here http://pureviewclub.com/ both full of good advice , tips and tricks, the things you require are demonstrated on both sites, I am not a camera expert, but think some of the settings you are trying are causing the issues you have, do a little research, the 808 is capable of doing everything you want and more

  • Camera problems with iOS 7.1.1 upgrade

Dear Apple, I had reservations about upgrading to iOS 7.1.1 and I held off for soooo long but when apps and videos were no longer supported on my previous platform I felt like I was being pushed to upgrade which I did 2 weeks ago.
I have been since fixing one thing after another only to find when taking a photo this morning of a beautiful sunrise I have a problem with my Camera. Why oh why is this still happening so long after this upgrade has been released I am sooooooo angry.
When I went onto Apple Support you tell me it is out of warranty and you want me to pay a service fee how dare you. I have loved and promoted your products to anyone her ever mentions wanting to buy a tablet. There is nothing wrong with my IPad 2 prior to upgrading and I should not have to buy another when it was your upgrade that has broken it. I use the camera for my business uploading photos and need it, why have you not rectified this Or is it you can't.  If an Apple employee is reading this please tell me how to rectify this I have been trawling through the discussions here and have reset, reset, reset but it is still stuck trying to get it to go backwards. I am soooooo not happy please heeeeeelp.

Thank you King_Penguin I went to the Apple shop last night and they did a restore but no luck , they looked at the camera and don't believe it is hardware they think that the 7.1.1 has superseded the IPad 2 model and while don't take responsibly offered me a replacement device for $309.00 as it is out of warranty. I think it is sad and environmentally irresponsible to have an IPad that is just over two years old and is considered obsolete. I love the Apple product and promote it big time but this has tarnished my perception of the product. Based on the math it costs $500.00 a year to use the product plus data costs makes it an expensive item. i might buy a laptop next time. Thanks for all you help though.   Sharon

  • 5D mark III lens correction problem with dark shots

Just found a new irritating problem with 5D mark III and Lightroom 4 (currently on 4.2). I shot quite a few shots in the dark over the weekend using high ISO (6400-16000), with EF 24-70 f/2.8L. If I enable the lens profile correction on the dark shots, the corners of the images all develop incredibly strong purple haze that renders the image unusable. Not enabling the correction allows me to use the images just fine. Also images that were shot with similar settings but were shot inside, with more light, don't have the purple fringing issue. Makes me wonder if this is some incompatibility between Canon's high iso noise reduction system and Lightroom's RAW processing when it does lens corrections.
    Anyone else seen this?

    Sulka Haro wrote:
Replicated the shot under a heavy blanket -> yes, the exposure looks the same. Whatever is causing the corner to be noisier than rest of the exposure doesn't seem to be caused by light.
At that very high of ISO you are actually seeing small differences in the sensor chip temperature due to heat from the electronics in the camera. The small amount of increased noise you're seeing in the corner at ISO 25600 is insignificant.
    Sulka Haro wrote:
Interestingly enabling long exposure compensation doesn't seem to do very much to really improve the shots at these sensitivities. When enabled, the exaggerated corner noise does disappear, but also it looks like some areas in the middle of the exposure become more noisy with non-uniform noise blotches appearing instead of fairly uniform slightly higher noise pattern.
I haven't needed to use Long Exposure Noise Reduction with my 5D MKII, so have no firsthand experience. My guess is that at very high ISO settings (above 6400) a lot of what your are seeing is random noise or "shot noise," which changes from frame to frame. This causes the dark frame subtraction to "fail" in the way you are seeing. Just a guess.
There is an excellent 5D MKIII review that compares noise reduction with several other high-end camera models. The reviewer also states,
"The 5D Mark III's ISO 51200 and 102400 remain a complete mess even with strong noise reduction applied - You have to be desperate to use these settings. ISO 12800 and 25600 remain very marginal for my uses. I always shoot in the lowest standard ISO setting that will allow me to get my desired shot, but begin to cringe when settings above ISO 3200 must be employed. Your standards and applications may be different."

  • Why my ipad have problem with the rotation screen

i have a problem with the rotation screen is locked, i try everything but nothing is happening help

If you see a lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen - then the screen orientation is locked.
Try the side switch above the volume rocker first and see if that unlocks the screen. If that doesn't do it, double tap the home button and swipe to the right and look for the lock icon all the way to the left.
If the screen is unlocked but still will not rotate, reset the iPad.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the button

  • Flip Video camera & problems with iMovie 08

If you are having problems with iMovie and Flip Video, here is the Flip Video email response on 27 May 2008:
    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
We are not authorized to support third party applications, which is why we do not provide specific instructions regarding iMovie or any other third party application. We only support the Flip and the Flip program, while offering suggestions regarding other programs.
The Apple website also offers Perian as a workaround regarding audio on the Tiger operating system with the latest QuickTime. The latest QuickTime upgrade didn’t allow for audio playback of AVI files, which is why Perian is now offered as a work around by us and by Apple.
It seems as though you are able to playback your videos, as well as use them in outside applications. If this is not the case, and you are having issues using your Flip video or your Flip video program, feel free to contact us further.
    Thank you,

This is my email to Flip Video on 26 May 2008:
My MAC Updater downloaded the new QT 7.4.5 on 5 Apr 2008. I have been making movies in iMovie, and then posting them to YouTube. In the beginning I uploaded the movies as MOV files but soon discovered AVI files (larger file and longer time to upload) had more clarity when viewed on YouTube. Once the new QT 7.4.5 downloaded all my AVI files had picture, but no sound! I downloaded the Perian component as posted in QT discussions. The sound returned to the AVI files. However, when I Exported an AVI movie from iMovie the picture quality was worse than the MOV movie. There is something wrong with the new QT 7.4.5 when working with AVI, my AVI movies look terrible. These AVI files were all downloaded from my Ultra Flip Video camera with Flip’s codec 3vix. Flip is aware of this problem and acknowledged it last Friday. Flip says Apple is aware of the problem.
My MAC PowerPc G4 has performed well in the past two months when working with the Flip Video camera. So, at Flip Video’s suggestion I upgraded the operating system to OS 10.5 from OS 10.4.11. Flip Video says their camera works with OS 10.5. Once OS 10.5 was uploaded I soon discovered that iMovie 08 would not operate on my PowerPc G4, 1.86 MHz. The speed requirement for iMovie 08 is 1.9 GHz.
At this point of “spinning my wheels for nearly a month” with this Flip Video camera, I decided to purchase a new iMac. On May 2, 2008, I walked out of the Apple Store in Walnut Creek with the new iMac 20-inch: 2.66GHz. Now the Flip video camera should work and all my video problems solved. However, this was not to be.
When I attempted to Import Flip Video AVI and MOV files into iMovie 08 the files were “grayed out” and would not Import. None of my previous Flip Video files would Import. I tried making new Flip Video movies, they also would not Import into iMovie 08.
At another Apple Store, the tech suggested I download the previous version of iMovie HD. I did this and with hours of working through the different Export options I was able to create movies to post again on youTube. However, the picture quality of the newer iMovies has never approached the quality of my last post before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. Remember my problems started with QT 7.4.5. Well, my new iMac came with QT 7.4.1, I have not Uploaded QT 7.4.5 and won’t until Flip Video fixes this problem.
Examples of my Flip Video movies can be viewed on youTube at: sffoggydays. The last video with excellent picture quality was posted 6 Apr 2008 titled “A Day at the San Francisco Zoo, Chapter Nine, L-Taravel Ride to BART.” This video was made in iMovie and Exported before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. All the youTube Flip Videos made after 6 Apr 2008 have poor picture quality.
It is time for Flip Video camera to stop “passing the buck” to Apple. When manufactures of operating system such as Apple and Microsoft create newer and upgraded systems, it is the responsibility of the manufactures of applications to redo their programs for operating on the new systems. Here is where Flip Video is not accepting this responsibility to Mac users of their camera. The Flip Video application/codex/drivers need to be updated in order to fix the following problems:
    - No sound on AVI files in QT 7.4.5
    - No Import of AVI and MOV files in iMovie 08
    - Poor picture quality for youTube in Export of iMovie HD
I like my Flip Video camera, want to continue making movies for youTube, and recommending the camera to others. The Flip Video camera people need to fix these problems for Mac users.

    Hi!
    I agree 100%!
I also purchased the Flip Video - was thrilled to see that they worked with Apple computers. I made several movies with it when I had my PowerBook G4. I went on a great vacation & took several once in a lifetime videos. Got home & couldn't wait to put them in my iMoive -06, burn them on my iDVD and sent them to several family members & friends. Before I got the chance, I had my system updater tell me that there was a new version to QT. GREAT, I thought, just in time for my vacation videos. Like you, after the QuickTime upgrade, I got video, but no sound. I was SICK about it! I also wrote to the Flip people & got a response somewhat like yours. I left the videos on my Flip which left no room for any others, but I didn't want to take the chance of losing them. After reading from Flip that it would work with OS 10.5 system, I talked myself into getting a new MacBook Pro. Came with all the upgrades iLife -08 and the OS 10.5.2 OK...finally, after months of stressing over losing the vacation videos, I had all I needed to save them! Of course the $2,000.00 price tag hurt a bit, but I deserve a new computer.
Well...I STILL can't get my priceless vacation videos edited and burned! I tried downloading 2 different programs that were supposed to help convert my Flip movies to something that would work, but they haven't. I could get it to work on my desktop with QT, but what good is that?? I want to make DVD's to send to others & save for my grandkids (if I ever am lucky enough to get some!)
I'm TOTALLY disgusted & feel I've wasted my money on the Flip Camera (that at one time I loved & was seriously considering giving them as gifts) the $2,000.00 on a new computer (that even though I do deserve, didn't REALLY need one yet!) AND I still have vacation videos that I can't share!
So... I agree! Flip should honor their word that is printed on the box & MAKE it work with all Apple computers. Surely they can find a fix!
TOTALLY disgusted with the whole FLIP/APPLE mess!
Oh, Flip also said they 'heard' that QuickTime Pro would work with iMovie -08 - although they haven't actually tested it themselves. NO THANKS!!! I've got WAY too much money invested in this stupid Flip camera!

  • Problems with tape shot with VX-2000

    Hello,
I have a problem with some tapes that were shot with a Sony VX-2000. They play back fine on the VX-2000, but when I try playing them on a Sony PD-100, the tape looks like it's speeded up--the picture pixelates, and the audio goes in and out (the resulting effect is like scrolling through the tape). When I play it on a portable deck (Sony GV-D900), it has a pixelated band across the image.
I first thought this was due to dirty playheads in one of the cameras. But when I dupe the tape (from the VX-2000) to the portable deck or the PD-100, the duped tape plays fine. So I imagine the problem must be in the VX-2000.
A couple of obvious solutions would be to capture the tapes directly from the VX-2000, or to duplicate the tapes. My concern is that the VX-2000 is on loan, and I may not be able to borrow it if I need to re-capture. Plus it's a little risky to have tapes that can only be played off of one camera. Duping the tapes would be the last option because I'm on a 10-day shoot, and it would mean duping a lot of tapes.
Has anyone run into this before? and is there a solution to this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Thien Do

I think that most decks have some sort of "automatic
tracking" adjustment (I'm just guessing, but...).
Certainly worth a try. If you can't find someone
with a better deck in your neighborhood, if you
wanted to ship me a non-essential tape for a test,
I'd be happy to give it a try.
Thanks for the offer. I'm on a shoot in Vietnam and it takes to long to mail tapes to the US, but I really appreciate the offer. I'm trying to find one of those decks here and see what they can do.
Another friend suggested that if all else fails, I could dupe the tape via SVHS connection onto a DigiBeta tape, then convert it back to DV, to minimize quality degradation. Seems like a good option.

  • IPad camera buggy with "Lock Rotation"

When I "lock rotation" on my iPad and take pictures, the "camera" icon in the snap button always shows upright.  However, when I download into iPhoto, they come in as a dog's breakfast of different rotations.
It's basically ignoring my "lock rotation" command -- okay, I can live with that -- but the camera icon in the shutter button is always upright.  The problem is, that icon should tell me the actual orientation it's recording in the photo's EXIF data, and it's not doing that.
I'm snapping pictures of antiquarian shop manuals for ancient locomotives, and I don't want to get them covered in grease.  So I snap the relevant sections, then go out to the locomotive and refer to the manual in my iPad, you know, like Boeing does.   But this damned orientation bug makes them really hard to work with, because the IPad wants to show every other page in the wrong orientation, so it doesn't fit and I have to zoom.
Any workarounds/fixes?  hello Apple please fix?

I had the same problem. As soon as I plugged in the jack no sound came to the earbuds. I went to Settings/Music/Volume and saw that the slider was turned to off... so I slid the slider bar to the far right to ON. When I plugged the jack in, the sound came through the earbuds. However, a few minutes later it quit.
So I went to the MUSIC ion on the bottom of the Homepage, touched it and it went to "Playlists" which contains songs that were there waiting to be played. I don't know how they got there but they were there. HOWEVER, I noticed a Sound Bar at the top of the page and it also was turned to OFF. So, I slid the bar to the far right all the way and lo and behold the sound came through the earbuds perfectly. This is the second step you have to do. You have to go to every place in settings that has sounds. You did the first step, as I did, but do the last one. Go to MUSIC, turn on that sound and it will be your solution. You will be able to listen to music, videos, watch movies - everything with the jack in.  If you should hear music coming through a video, go to the Playlist and turn off the song. I have iPad 3. My only problem with sound was that the jack was not putting sound to the earbuds. Without the earbuds and the jack not plugged in everything was fine. It is not with hardware it is with Settings.

  • Camera problem with OMNI 10 Tablet

    Hello,
I have purchased OMNI 10 tablet last week. This  tablet takes very bad indoor pictures. First day when I took pictures in my sitting room, lit with four feet tube lghts, the pictures were very hazzy with lot of snow. I talked with the seller and he agreed to replace it and called me at the show room. When he checked at the show room, it was working all right. He satisfied me and I came back with the same Tab again. But when I checked it at home the problem was same. Than  I took pictures outside in daylight and found its taking good pictures. I concluded that this is not taking good pictrures inside with tublihts on. I don't know the reason but somewhat disappionted that I  cannot use my tab to take pictures inside my home. Is there any remedy for this or I have to bear with this problem. I have other tabs and cameras which take perfectily good pictrues in the same light inside.
    Thanks
    Vinay Saxena

    Hello, vinayggn.
I have been impressed by the quality of pictiures/video produced by my own Omni in low light conditions — far less than what I would expect from the amount of  light given-off by multiple fluorescent lights. Since the Omni's 2 cameras are adaptable to many uses, there may be changes to the settings which produce better results in the conditions you've described. HP provides documentation on the Omni hard drive which explains how to use your tablet's important features Also, try to re-position the Omni so that no portion of the bright "tubes" or any other bright light source appear in the pictures you're taking & remove the tablet from any sleeve while your'e experimenting. Also, taking pictures in different indoor rooms & settings will help you to learn more about how your tablet is responding to various lighting conditions. If there is enough light to comfortably read a book, you should be able to take acceptable quality pictures. The "snow" you mentioned in your most-recent reply to banhien, may be caused by a nearby source of electical interference. I would expect this would be apparent if you get some acceptable pictures taken under approximately the same amount of light, when taken in other locations...
Please report back with any additional questions, or better yet — your success story!
    Good luck!

  • IPad Air-problem with upgrading to 7.04

I have problem with my brand new iPad Air. After turning it on and setting everything up, suddenly it has shown that there is upgrade to iOS 7.04. I accepted terms and conditions, it has started to upgrading, but nothing is happening, no progress. Ideas what I can do? I can't click or do anything, even cant turn it off. I guess that only option is hard reset but isn't that dangerous during upgrade?

Reset iPad and continue with update.
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
