IPad cannot download PDFs from Safari.

My brand-new iPad cannot download PDF files from my class website on Safari. I was wondering if there was any kind of downloading application I needed to install first. Any thoughts? When I touch the file icon, a little window appears saying "Download failed: Safari cannot download this file."

  • I cannot download pdfs from FireFox on a Mac

Up until just a few days ago I could download pdfs from websites through Firefox. As far as I know I did not upgrade or change anything. I followed all of the tutorials, the Troubleshooting Information tips, deleted profile.ind files, added the PDF viewer 0.6.39 and that does not work.
    I am on a Mac, OS 10.6.8
    Firefox 17

You can disable the Adobe Reader plugin in Firefox (Tools > Add-ons > Plugins) and use the external Adobe Reader application or Preview application instead.
*Firefox > Preferences > Applications > Adobe PDF document : Use Adobe Reader
PDF files may also be found under another entry like Portable document.

  • Cannot download PDF from Mail

    Hi,
When I receive a PDF in an email, it is embedded and I cannot download it and send it to GoodReader or wherever. When I click over it, it simply gives me the options "Save Image" and "Copy".
How can view PDF attachments as PDF attachments so they can then be saved to a PDF Reader App.
    Thanks.
    Rob.

It is strange. I cannot get to open a PDF file on my iPad.
    Is it by default?
I can work it around using GoodReader to acces my email accounts but we talk about a major issue here.

  • How do I download PDFs from Safari by default?

I want to download PDFs by default (to my downloads folder) rather than showing up in a browser window. I know it can be done, worked before I installed a new drive. But I don't remember what to do to make downloading the default.
    Thanks!

What version of Mac OS X are you running, and what version of Safari? There is no default behavior to download a PDF file; you can only do that by Control-clicking on the link for the file and choosing to download it.

  • I can't open downloaded pdfs from safari

When I download a file from an internet site.  I cannot open it and I get an error message "safari cannot open because no available application can open it"  It is just a pdf document.
Also, when I try to open documents from my documents files, I get a similar message saying "The application preview can't be opened"

I was going to ask you to post a screenshot, but that doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Below the Open with menu, there should be a Change All button. You don't have it?

  • HT2672 Download PDFs from Safari and Mail

This does not work for me.  When I try to download the linked file, all I get is a irrelevant html web page.  This happens with pdf links in Apple Mail and Safari.  What happened to my pdfs I used to be able to download in Firefox and MS Entourage?

Did a few more things, went in to Font Book and ran a validation of all fonts.  Several (21) were shown to have a "problem" so I removed them from the computer but it didn't resolve my issue.  Additionally, I'm seeing other quirky things happening with Mail.app failing to stay connected to Exchange 2010 server and stopps pulling down email.  I thought maybe it was rules as I ran into this issue on Lion several months ago so I removed all rules (disabling them didn't seem to matter) and have also removed MailTags and MailActOn from Indev.  Still no resolution to the missing icons and this is really a problem for me.  I don't want to have to reinstall Mac but I guess if I have to, I have to.

  • I have installed latest update and checked all preferences are correct in my MAC but still cannot download PDFs from some websites

When I am on a website and need to download a PDF it tells me I need to get latest update of Adobe Reader. So I get latest update (God knows how many times now) but still cannot open the PDFs - any suggestions?

This is probably because the websites you are visiting have bad Javascripts to check the version of Acrobat but can you screenshot the error that you receive and the post it?

  • Cannot print pdf from safari

When I try to print a pdf downloaded by safari I only get a blank, black page, if I print via safari itself, and an error that no pages are selected (when thy are) if I try to print via adobe reader,  I'm running OSX 10.9.2 and Safari 7.0.3

To view PDF in Preview, you have to remove Adobe Reader.
Remove Adobe plug ins if any.
    Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins
    Look for these two files.
    AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
    AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click it and then select Move to Trash”.

  • Cannot download PDFs

I have Adobe Reader XI. I cannot download PDFs from websites. Opening stand alone PDFs from files or emails works fine. Clicking Open does not work and clicking Save or Save As does not allow me the option of saving as a PDF. Is there a reason for this?

    Hi,
Which web browser are you using to view the PDF? Safari 5.1.8
When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader add-in you will either see a floating toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317859/430-90/floating +toolbar.JPG
    or a normal toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317860/450-11/normalto olbar.JPG
both the toolbars have save button, use the button to save the file locally. I do not see these toolbars. I do, however see this
    and it works! Thanks
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks

  • HT5701 Cannot download pdf files with Safari 6.0.4?

Cannot download pdf files with Safari 6.0.4

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

My IPad cannot download live Tv from skygo. I have no problem with my lap top so I assume the broad band is okay. Can anybody suggest why the live streaming will not work on my iPad .

Are you using the Sky Go app to try and watch it ? If so are you logged in with your Sky account ?
If you are using the app then you could try closing the app completely and see if it works when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Sky Go 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Sky Go app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
