IPad is disabled

Hello,
My kids tried to enter the lock password many times which leaded to have the iPad got locked. I've a message "iPad is disabled" and I can't open it again
I didn't sync it on either my PC or MAC since its for the kids and tried to have it in restore mode and restore the latest iOS but no luck as PC/MAC never detects it and it only charge via the dock port.
I've sent it to Apple UK store and their technician said: its a hardware issue with the port! I've searched in their discussions and many have the same issue but no one mentioned if he got it fixed.
Any suggustion?

You'll need to do force your iPad into recovery mode.  It will restore it to factory settings, so unless you have a backup of your data then you'll lose everything.  At least you'll have a functional iPad, though.
Plug the iPad into the computer.  Hold down BOTH the power and home buttons for 8 seconds.  After the initial 8 seconds you will let go of the power button and continue to hold the home button for 8 seconds.  That will force the iPad into recovery mode and it will ask if you want to restore the iPad.
Good luck.

  • HT1212 I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. I tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone  and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled

I just updated my Ipad 2 to IOS 7, now it is asking me for a passcode. I never set a passcode on my Ipad, so how can I enter a passcode. Earlier today I upgraded my Iphone 5 to IOS 7 and it asked me to set a passcode, which now works fine on my Phone. I  tried using the OIS7 passcode I use on my Iphone 5 and it did not work and now my Ipad is disabled. Both devices are on icloud and share the same apple id. The Ipad screen says slide to set up but then there is a prompt for passcode, not for setting up passcode

I called Apple Support and a supervisor helped resolve this for me on my iPad. I suggest calling them for help as this is obviously an issue with the iOS 7 update - she helped me without charge. I could be missing something in my upcoming description, so do not take this as complete - call them.
I had to update iTunes on my Mac Air to the latest version, and I had an iCloud backup from the day I updated to iOS7. Have iTunes open but do NOT connect your iPad yet. Shut down the iPad. Then press/hold the Home key on the iPad while you connect the USB from the iPad to the computer (an image of the USB cable appeared on the iPad). Follow the prompts in iTunes to restore and then backup using iCloud. When the iPad rebooted again to do the backup install, I got the same pass code issue and iTunes would not recognize the iPad without entering a pass code. I disconnected the iPad, turned it off, pressed the Home key while connecting the USB cable. When I did the restore and backup from iCloud the second time, it worked without the pass code issue occurring.

  • HT1212 My ipad is disabled and says it needs to be connected to itunes, when i connect it to itunes, itunes says that i need to put my passcode in my ipad for it to recognize it, but since it is disabled, i cant do this, how can i resolve this problem?

My ipad is disabled and it says i need to connect to itunes when i connect it to itunes, it says it wont recognize it until i put my passcode into my ipad, but with my ipad disabled, this is immposible, how can i resolve this problem?

You may need to put the iPad into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808 - you should then be able to reset the iPad an resync your content to it

  • My ipad says ipad is disable and it needs to connect to iTune?

I have this Ipad taht my cousin gave me to fix, when i turned it on is say ipad is disable and on the bottum says connect to iTune. How do I reset it with out logging in.

    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...
    Note: Data will be lost

my iPad is disabled - connect to itunes... HELP please

You will need to connect the iPad to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPad and restore/re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPad into recovery mode for your computer's iTunes to be able to reset it : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.

If you followed these instructions and you were unable to enter recovery mode, I'm still leaning toward a hardware problem.  Also, since you have IOS-7, read this.  It might help.

  • Please help!! ipad is disabled and will not do a hard reset to go into recovery mode.

i cannot do a force reset... When i hold in the home and sleep/wake button nothing happens, I have tried these same steps over and over again. Neither the apple or the itunes logo ever pop up.. The screen just stays black. I recently replaced the digitizer after my son cracked the screen. I have made sure that nothing was injured during repair. I did put the digitizer ribbon in wrong and then the screen was not working correctly. I had put the ribbon in backwards. So after the first wrong installation of the digitizer, i tried to unlock the screen with my passcode but it obviously wasn't working.. i would touch the number for the passcode but the screen would respond somewhere else..so i kept getting the passcode wrong and then BAM! Ipad disabled.. so i took a break from the frustration... When i returned to my ipad i took it back apart and thats when i realized that i had the digitizer ribbon in backwards, so i fixed it and replaced the screen once again.. But now the ipad is disabled, and for some reason it will not respond when i try to shut it down all the way, no red slider at all...so i bout a apple data transfer cable and i tried to connect it to itunes and hold the buttons like i read to do in the article, and my computer recognizes that my ipad is there,,, it tells me that i have to allow access and to respond on my ipad.. but sadly i cannot.. nothing appears on the ipad.. it stays a black screen and then when i lt go the "ipad is disabled" screen comes on.....
Then i read online that i could restore from icloud.com, so i go there, i sign in just fine but my ipad is not listed in the devices there either... it says " No Devices, You must be signed into iOS8 settings or Mac OS Yosemite system preferences to see devices."
And i dont believe the ipad is up to date, it had been unused for about 2 months, until last week when i attempted to fix it so im sure the operating system is old :-(
So im totally lost, I dont have a clue what to do to get my device recognized. I would really appreciate any help that anyone can give,, Thank you so much in advance!!!

  • My iPad is disabled but I don't have access to the laptop it was originally synced with

I put my mini iPad in my suitcase next to the Bluetooth keyboard I use with it. Stupidly I didn't turn off either of the devices. At the other end of my journey I see that my iPad is disabled and I need to connect with iTunes Store.
I have read how to force iPad into recovery, but on all posts it says to connect to computer that originally synced the device. This was a work laptop that unfortunately I no longer have access too. And for information I haven't unlinked my iPhone or my iPad to that machine either :( although I can get someone to do this if necessary.
Can I somehow sign into iTunes using my new iMac and start from there, if so, how?
I'd be really grateful for advice.

    Thanks so much Diavonex.
    All sorted.
I did the recovery trick with an iMac which reset it and enabled me to unlock it.
Then I went into Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings
Which i did. Which then enabled me to set up my iPad from scratch and back up from the cloud.
Perfect - it is now exactly as it was before I lost access to it.
    I've very grateful.

  • I forgot my passcode and my ipad is disabled.I have never done a sync with a PC and I can't complete the download on my PC too

Hello, I need your help to restore my IPAD (4g - 32MG). I uptaded the IOS7 on my Ipad yesterday and I made a mistake of not writing down the passcode on a paper. After trying unsuccessfuly to have access to it, my IPAD was disabled. I went to the store I had bought my IPAD and a guy from Apple Store tried to help me. As I had never sync my IPAD with any PC  before, he told me the only option was to restore my IPAD. But when he tried to restore it through ITunes on his computer, a message of error appeared and he could not do it. I have tried to download ITunes on my PC but apple support says that that is unable to run the Itunes and suggests me to unistall ITunes and try to isntall again. I have already tried three times and it didn't work...when I turn on my IPAD it shows an image asking to connect to Itunes and I can't get to ITunes. I do appreciate if somebody can help me to solve this problem. Thanks.

You will have to use recovery mode, losing all data.

  • IPad Air says iPad is disabled connect to iTunes and STILL not able to use it. VERY UNHAPPY

After uploading IOS8 on 9-17-14 my iPad Air says "iPad is disabled, connect to iTunes.". I have followed all the suggestions from Apple and tried to erase my iPad, but I am VERY UNHAPPY as none of these have resolved the problem. Apple, please provide the support when you have new downloads...

Apple are not involved in tracking/locating stolen or lost devices. Have you reported it to the police ?
Did you have Find My iPad enabled in Settings > iCloud ? If you did and you had iOS 7 installed on it then it should be harder to remove from your account, and the police could try locating it via http://www.icloud.com

  • My uncle has died and we are trying to access his iPad but don't know his code so the iPad is disabled. Can we unlock it without resetting the device as we don't know if he's backed it up our not and don't want to lose whatever he has on there?

My uncle passed away recently and we are trying to access his iPad but don't know his code so the iPad is disabled. Can we unlock it without having to reset it as we don't know if he's backed anything up and we don't want to lose whatever is on there... thanks in advance.

About all you can do is take the device to an Apple Store along with the death certificate and explain the situation...if someone can do something, it would be them.

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.

Also when I am trying to connect ipad to my windows PC, it shows, your software is up to date and later starts restoring while updating again. Then automatically it stops to update halfway and I have to repeat the process again and again, still in vain.
