Ipad keeps giving "no sim card" alert, why?

Hi there,
I use my my iPad 2 without a sim card, only with Wifi. That's what I want. I have taken the sim card out.
But: the iPad keeps giving me the alert "no sim card" every few minutes! I cannot play a game or browse because this alert window keeps popping up.
I KNOW there is no sim card inserted!
How can I stop the iPad doing that?

Try first take out ur sim card and put back on again hope this sort it out,no idea why this happen.

My iPad is locked on O2 but won't accept a O2 SIM card. Why is this?

My iPad is locked on O2 as it says this on the about bit in setting. I tried putting my O2 SIM card in my iPad but it says SIM card not valid. I got this iPad 4 second hand from a friend. I don't know why my iPad won't accept this sim as this is the Carrier for this iPad. Could someone possibly help me.

It's an O2 iPad SIM card that is a data only SIM card. I got a new sim fort he propose that my cell phone sim wouldn't work at all so got a new iPad sim delivered today and it still doesn't work.

If you want to use the 3G cellular data service - you need a sim card. If you just plan on using WiFi, then it doesn't matter.
The 3G cellular service allows you to connect the iPad to the internet in areas where WiFi is not available. You do not have to install the sim card in order to use the iPad as long as you just use WiFi. You can always purchase the service later if you don't want it right now.

Ipad mini displays no sim card

Out of the blue my ipad mini displays no sim card. Does anyone else have this problem and how can I fix it? I can get it to work if I restart my ipad but that is a pain and why all of a sudden did it start doing this?

Verizon iPads don't have SIM card trays because they are CDMA devices, not GSM. As to whether you can exchange it, you'll need to discuss that with the place you purchased it.

Because there is something wrong with the iPad? Try restoring the device with iTunes. Start with that.

Was the phone unlocked offically by the carrier before restoring? If it was unlocked by a hack it will be locked again after a restore or update.

The SIM card should already be activated. To turn-on cellular data, go to Settings-->Cellular Data and turn it on. Once its on you can sign up for a monthly data plan on the same screen.
If you are getting a SIM error about it not being active, or it just won't turn on, you'll need to call your carrier (ATT or Verizon).

Unless you have the WiFi+Cellular iPad there is not a sim card. You can only use a sim with cellular equipped iPads.
