Ipad mail wont receive new mail

I have an sbcglobal email address.
Last two days my iPad wont update my received emails when i open the mail program.  i keep trying to manullly activate and download my emails and nothing happens...... My iphone on the other hand updates my emails every time i open the mail app.
My accounts on both devices are set up exactly the same way.
This  problem just started effecting my ipad since two days ago... I did not mess with anything to cause it?
Anyone know whats going on?

  • Mail wont load new mail

My Mail program will no bring in new messages! I can check the messages online at Mac.com but not in the actual program. I have already tried deleting the preferences and defining the accounts again, and it only loads the same old messages. I've also tried the traditional rebooting to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could it be that Mail is in an "offline" state? Is
the Mailbox > Go Online command enabled or
    disabled?
I have two .Mac accounts. Both Mailboxes are online.
Go to Preferences > Accounts > Advanced. Is
Include when automatically checking for new
    mail checked or unchecked?
It is checked for both my mailboxes.
Open Window > Connection Doctor. What does it
    say?
For one .Mac account (the one I dont really use) t it says "Connection & login to server suceeded"
For the other .Mac account it says "Cannot connect to this .Mac server. Check your network connection and that you entered in the correct information in Account preferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not uncheck that box."
Was this account set up as type .Mac in Mail, or was
it set up as POP? If .Mac, try rebuilding the the
mailbox, i.e. select it and do Mailbox >
    Rebuild.
I tried rebuilding both of them and now I dont have my old emails either. Just an empty Inbox.

Same problems here. Glad I'm not the only one.
After looking at the Activity window, this is what it displays:
    http://screencast.com/t/NWU4N2Q5M
The Connection Doctor just says that all accounts were able to log in successfully, so no help there.
After clicking on the Stop Sign icon beside the stuff in the activity window (which effectively "stops" that task it's beside), I can then right click and "synchronize" my Exchange account and it receives all messages immediately, including the inbox. It's a work around, but I'm not sure that just command+Q and reopen wouldn't be easier.
It appears that a receive action just freezes up, which is why a resync before you kill the first sync doesn't fix it and a quit+restart does. As a side note, I can send messages through Exchange just fine when this receive lockup occurs.
Apple, please look into this...you have a better mail client than M$, but at least theirs stays connected.

  • Mac Mail Not Receiving New Mail from Exchange

Hey everyone, in the last few days, I've noticed that my Mac Mail isn't downloading new messages from my company's exchange server.
I can log into the web-based exchange server and see new messages sitting there, unread. If I quit Mail and re-open it, it fixes the problem, but taking all of the accounts offline and bringing them back online does not fix the problem.
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it? I'm thinking some cache might be full or something.
    Thanks in advance

I have an iPad 2 and receive e-mail through regular internet connection. Lately, when I delete e-mails, and clear my Trash folder, they re-appear, downloaded anew from the server and marked as unread. My e-mail Advanced Settings are selected for "Remove from server when moved from Inbox." Even when I access the e-mail accountfrom my desktop and delete the e-mails, the re-appear on my iPad. Does anyone have any idea what is causing this and what I can do to actually delete them?

Sounds like you are looking in the wrong Administrative Group container which is why you are seeing your Exchange 2010 servers in there.
When you install Exchange 2003 only you will see a container named by default as "CN=First Administrative Group" container. But this could be named anything if you changed the Organization Name on the installation when you installed the first
Exchange 2003 server into the domain/forest.
You will notice that when you install Exchange 2010 part of the AD setup is to create a new configuration container and is named by default "CN=First Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)".
So it sounds like you are not looking in the right location within ADSIEdit.
You may find the following article also helpful for this issue which is the same resolution:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2012/05/17/empty-cn-servers-container-causing-issues-with-public-folders-on-small-business-server-2011.aspx
I recommend though that you ensure your Exchange 2003 servers are fully uninstalled or no longer present in your environment before you go deleting the Servers container though.. The following Microsoft article will help with this:

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • How do I only receive new mails on iPhone

So, I have succesfully set up my hotmail account on my iPhone. The only problem is that I receive my oldest mail first and since I have like 2000+ old messages in my inbox it will take a while for me to get to my new messages.
Is there a way to set up the mail program so that it only receives new mail?
    Thanks
    Message was edited by: Skibsted

The iPhone's email client includes no such setting and I'm not aware of any email client that does.
Utilize another mailbox or mailboxes with the email client used on your computer to transfer some of these messages to that you want or need to keep.

Delete your mail account from Mail preferences and set it up again using the Mail Server Information.

  • Can't receive new mail from hotmail

Okay, so I got my MacBook Air two days ago and everything has been running fine, except for the fact that in the Mail app I can't receive email from my hotmail account past a certain point. When it goes to receive new mail for the account it lists itself as receiving 2320 incoming messages. I know that this figure is too high, perhaps about double what it should be getting from the account. However, the main problem lies in the fact that the Mail app only ever receives 455 of those messages, which leaves me missing pretty much every email I've received this year. The Mail app works fine for receiving new emails from my university email account (which uses pod51000.outlook.com for its incoming mail server, as opposed to hotmail's pop3.live.com). I've looked through the online support pages and looked for people having a similar problem here, but neither of these have been of any real help. I have no idea what the problem could be, so any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
If any additional information would be helpful then I'd be more than happy to provide it.

My ipPod Touch is able to receive new mail and I can read it but I can't respond or forward.  The reply icon has disappeared.  I am also not able to compose a new message.  It's like the whole bottom line on the screen has disappeared.  Mail has worked fine until yesterday.  How do I get this capability back?

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Mail>the accont and turn it off and turn it back on

My GMail has been working fine on my iPhone, but yesterday the iPhone cleared out all my folders without asking and will no longer receive any emails. But I can still send messages, and my GMail account via the web browser is still intact and receiving new mail. My iPhone is definitely online. Why? Help!

Mine is working fine. Try deleting the Gmail account from the iPhone, then re-adding it.

  • Phantom Blank Spam blocking Mail from retrieving new mail in Apple Mail

Over the past few days my wife and I have both had difficulties downloading pop-3 mail from our accounts (from a UK based ISP, UKonline) onto our separate computers (Powerbook G4 and MacBook). I have no idea yet whether this is affecting other ISPs or other Mac or PC platforms or mail clients, but it is definitely affecting both of our Mail apps running under 10.4.7.
The problem seems to revolve around blank email messages being received into our respective accounts by at our ISPs mail server.
These blank messages, presumably some form of spam have no sender, no recipient, no date, no source code, no body text and no subject.
These 'phantom' blank emails appear to be the root of the problem as once they are manually removed from our server-side inbox (either through Apple Mail's 'Get Info' / 'Remove from Server' function, or via our ISPs webmail facility), the email starts picking up mail automatically again–immediately, without any other intervention other than clicking 'Get Mail'. Until they are removed, Apple Mail will NOT collect any more mail, automatically or manually through 'Get Mail'.
I have contacted my ISP and to date had no firm response from them. One of their operatives suggest I contact Apple as his Windows PC email still works and retrieves mail when these blank phantom messages reach his server-side inbox waiting to be collected.
The fact that these messages have no date means that under Mail's 'Get Info' / 'Remove from Server' facility, they always appear at the top with the CURRENT date and time when sorted by date. In this way, they are easy to spot. Also, if sorted by size, they also appear at the top because they are 0k in size. They appear to act as a blockage to receiving new mail until they are cleared.
I'd be grateful to hear if anyone else is having this problem or has found a solution to it, or indeed whether this is an ISP problem.
    With thanks
    Jamie

    Hello Jamie.
These 'phantom' blank emails appear to be the root of the problem
as once they are manually removed from our server-side inbox
(either through Apple Mail's 'Get Info' / 'Remove from Server' function,
or via our ISPs webmail facility), the email starts picking up mail
automatically again–immediately, without any other intervention
other than clicking 'Get Mail'. Until they are removed, Apple Mail
will NOT collect any more mail, automatically or manually through
    'Get Mail'.
What is your setting for removing messages from the server when downloaded by the Mail.app?
If set to right away, does this have any effect?
One of their operatives suggest I contact Apple as his Windows
PC email still works and retrieves mail when these blank
phantom messages reach his server-side inbox waiting to be collected.
Of course - especially if this operative is using Microsoft's Outlook or OE which usually don't have problems downloading anything including viruses, adware and spyware.
I'm not sure why these "Ghost" spam messages cause this problem with the Mail.app but these are obviously sent by a spammer to cause problems.
How about your ISP doing something about blocking all messages at the incoming mail server that are completely blank such as these so they don't arrive in any of their customer's Inbox mailbox at the server since these messages are intended to cause problems and are completely blank anyway? No different from any other type of spam or as messages are scanned for viruses at the server. Although Apple needs to look into this, your ISP is not completely off the hook or has no responsibility IMO.
