Ipad Mini imessage not sending messages over wifi

I've my ipad mini for a couple of days now and I've consistently run into imessage problems.
I can surf the web, use apps that require Internet (ie. Facebook, Pinterest, mail, etc.) but it seems like imessage refuse to work.
My imessage is working and syncing just fine between my iPhone and MacBook Pro .
I've tried restarting my router, restoring my ipad mini to factory settings, soft and hard reset, and just about everything I can think of but nothing seems to be working. Maybe I have a defected ipad? Is anyone else having these issue?
I would really appreciate the help!!
Thanks!

Try the following.
Turn off Messages, sign out of your Apple ID on the iPad, restart your iPad, go back to Messages, turn it back on and then sign in again in Messages and in the store settings.
Settings>Messages>Off. Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart your iPad and then go back to Settings>iTunes and App Stores>Apple ID. Sign in. Then go to Settings>Messages>On. Then sign in and see if it will activate.
Here's what Apple suggests when running into problems:
Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.
If "Waiting for Activation" is displayed, leave FaceTime and iMessage enabled for 24 hours. Toggling FaceTime or iMessage off and on will cause the registration process to start over.

  • IPad mini iMessage not showing contacts, just numbers

I Have recently got an iPad mini and restored from a phone back up and linked to iCloud.
I Can go into the contacts app and see all my contacts with names and numbers. So I send a message through iMessage to one of my contacts and in iMessage the list of people I have messaged only shows their numbers and not their names.
How do I get it to show names and not just numbers?

    Try the following.

  • IPad Mini / iMessage not syncing

    Morning,
Just noticed for the second time that my iPad Mini isn't updating iMessage, I had this problem last weekend.
It has all the threads in there from about 2 days ago, now last time this happened when i replied within them outdated threads on the iPad Mini it started a new message thread for the other person on there device. I had to wipe and start again on my iPad, I have also noticed the same issue with my other half's iPad 2.
    anyone experience this before?

  • IPad 4 is not sending messages after ios7 update.

I have been using iMessage frequently over wifi ( I don't use SMS option) but now message fails to send after installing ios7. Have checked all settings and account seems fine. Have tried a reset but still no joy. The sending bar gets 95% of the way across the screen and then stops, shortly followed by the dreaded red exclamation mark!

Thank you for trying to help. I had read this info before posing the question and was able to check and confirm that both imessage and FaceTime were validated and using my proper account details. I have also checked contact details to make sure nothing got altered during the ios update. Unlike others I have seen in the media, I had no error messages whilst installing ios7 and everything seems to be working just fine - except of course for imessage. My wife who also has an ipad and who updated the day after I did is having exactly the same problem?
We have both regularly used imessage and FaceTime before.

  • IMessage not sending messages on iPhone 5

New iPhone 5 has been having all kinds of problems with messages.  Phone is set to use iMessage and some are delayed for DAYS before arriving.  When someone tries to send and iMessage, it will generally get stuck at Sending.  Outgoing iMessages say delivered but the person won't receive them until I get home and my iPhone connects to my WiFi (at which point I also get a flood of iMessages that were sent all day long).  Tried turning off LTE to see if that helps. No luck.  If someone is having trouble sending, they can Send As Text Message (SMS) and the message goes right through.  I have turned off iMessage because that is the only way I can reliably get messages.  Never had this problem on iPhone 4 that the 5 replaced.
Anyone else seen this or have a solution. Tried rebooting iPhone but that didn't help.  iMessage off is the only thing that allows me to get messages when they are sent (and to send messages).

Having the same problem with my iphone 4S. I can send/receive sms messages no problem but for some reason I cannot send/receive imessages. I have been able to do a network reset and it works but only for a limited time.

  • Cannot manually backup iPad mini or update iOS 7 over wifi or iTunes.

    Hi all,
I delayed updating my ipad mini because I'm lazy but have a lot of app updates so thought it was time. My iPhone 4s went fine but my iPad is frustrating me to no end. I cannot update it wirelessly. When I press General > Software Update, it fails to load any updates after checking for ages and displays the message "unable to check for update" and says an error occurred. When I plug it into my Mac, it tries to set it up as a new ipad or wants to restore it from my backed up iphone data. It gives me no opportunity to back it up manually through itunes. Both my macbook and itunes are up to date. This is a new macbook and my first macbook so my ipad has never been plugged into it before but my iphone worked.
The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is that my mac is plugged into an ethernet cable and I set it to be a hotspot for my ipad.
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

    You can't go back. Period.
But carefully explain what your issues might be. Someone here will provide assistance. But general statements of "WiFi doesn't work well" doesn't give us enough information to even begin to help you.

  • IMessage not sending messages on Macbook?

I just got my macbook air last night and i had it all set up.
i opened imessage and entered my apple ID and associated which email id like to receive messages on.
I have my original apple ID and another email, which I seleted my alternate email.
I was able to successfully send one message to a friend.
However, the account i was signed into on my computer was the not the accounted in which i transferred all my files from my PC.
With that, I deleted the account (which was marked admin) and made my other account admin (the one with my migrated files)
Now when I attempted to sign into my imessage, I am unable to send or receive messages.
I did the exact same as said above but I am unsure of where I had gone wrong.
I have already signed out and resigned back in multiple times and repeated the process but have gone unsuccessful.
    Any help?

  • Why can I not send messages without wifi?

My iphone 5c stopped sending and receiving messages plus calls a few days ago. I have tried turning my phone off and on again, turning imessage off and on. Imessage states 'waiting for activation' which takes a long time and the final result is failure to activate. Help!

    Hello Weekatie,
Thank you for your question. It sounds like you cannot make any calls or text messages with the cellular connection. I wanted to recommend these steps from the article named:
iPhone: Troubleshooting issues making or receiving calls
    https://support.apple.com/kb/TS3406
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue. Please test after each step.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings > Enable Airplane Mode, wait five seconds, then turn off airplane mode.
    Check your phone settings:
Check your Do Not Disturb settings: Tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
Check for any blocked phone numbers: Tap Settings > Phone > Blocked.
See if Call Forwarding is turned on: Tap Settings > Phone > Call Forwarding.
Ensure that your software is up to date:
Check for a carrier settings update.
Check for an iOS software update.
Note: Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
If the iPhone has a SIM card, reseat the SIM card.
If the iPhone 4 or iPhone 4s is on the Verizon network, dial *228 from the iPhone and select option 2 to update the Preferred Roaming List (PRL). The PRL determines the cellular towers the phone uses for cellular service, selecting those with the best signal strength.
Reset the network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Try to make or receive calls in another location.
Attempt to isolate to one network band:
If you're having the issue on LTE, disable LTE, if possible, and try again.
If you're having the issue on 3G/4G, disable 3G/4G, if possible, and try again.
Contact the carrier to check the following:
Your account is properly configured to use the specific iPhone that has the issue.
There are no localized service outages.
    Your account doesn't have a billing-related block.
Your calls don't have errors on the carrier system.
    Restore the phone as new.
If the above steps don't resolve the issue, go to an Apple Retail Store, carrier, Apple Authorized Reseller, or contact AppleCare to send the phone in for service.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • I'm Having Trouble Sending Messages Over IMessage.

Okay, so I have a 4th generation ipod touch that I'm having trouble sending messages on. It's up to date on 6.0.1. It's also brand new. I only got it 3 days ago, but nevertheless i'm already having problems with imessage not sending messages. The odd thing is it only won't send messages at 12:00/1:00 am- about 10:00 am. The rest of the time I have no problems with it. Also, I should add that I live in an area that does not have high-speed internet but I get it over satillite. So my internet speed is not the best. But I didn't have this problem with my old ipod that I used a day prior to using this one. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you.

  • TS5185 My IPAD will not send messages to non APPLE users.

Today, Christmas Day, while trying to send a message my IPAD wanted me to turn on iMessage. There was no option not to do this. After it was turned on I could no longer send messages to non Apple users. After reading online that I could set send SMS on my IPHONE I did. Now I guess it send everything as an SMS message. Now my IPAD will not send messages to non Apple users. I guess Apple wants us to pick our friends only if the use Apple products. This is about as stupid as it gets. They want us to only communicate with Apple users. The only other option is to turn the feature off. Why have iMessage in the first place.
So my situation is I can send SMS Messages on my IPHONE. I cannot send any messages to non Apple users on my IPAD and iMessages to my Apple users.
This kind of stupidity is why I switched from Windows to Apple in the first place. Don't they test anything out anymore at Apple?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I think that you might be doing something wrong.
Connect your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac using Continuity - Apple Support
To use Continuity for SMS and MMS with your iPhone and your Mac, iPad or iPod touch
Your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch need to use iOS 8.1, and your Mac needs to use OS X Yosemite.
Sign in to iMessage on your iPhone, your other iOS devices, and your Mac using the same Apple ID.
    On your iPhone:
Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > You Can Be Reached By, and add a check to both your phone number and email address.
Go to Messages > Text Message Forwarding, and enable the device(s) you would like to forward messages to.
Your Mac, iPad, or iPod touch will display a code. Enter this code on your iPhone to verify the SMS feature.

  • Droid turbo unable to send or recieve text messages over wifi

all of a sudden this past week I have not been able to send text messages over wifi, has not been a problem in the past with any phone I have had. Anyone else having this problem, I have a 64g and 32g in the house and both have the same problem sometimes a reboot works but only for a few minutes if at all. I then have to turn off wifi and reboot the phone to send text or I have to actually type the text again and send. very annoying.

        Hellboy,
That's a very annoying issue indeed! We'll help figure out why this is happening and how to fix it for you. I was wondering about a few things. Are you using the messaging app that came preinstalled on the phone or one that was downloaded from the PlayStore? If it was downloaded, which app are you using? Also, does this primarily happen with longer text messages or messages containing pictures? Receiving texts is working just fine, right?
