IPad Mini Retina - unrecognized apple id email account pop up

I recently purchased a brand new iPad Mini Retina to replace a previous iPad Mini.  During the initial installation process, I was prompted to enter my Apple ID.  The pop was pre-populated with another person's email id.  At first, I assumed this was just a sample id to help new Apple device owners to get started.  However, this same id has been showing up on other times when I tried to purchase or install a new iPad app on this new device.  Lately, from time to time, the Apple id login would pop up with this same email id prompting me for a password even if I'm not purchasing or installing anything.  With my curiosity aroused, I sent an email to this address and explained my reason for my inquiry.  The person did respond and acknowledged my question but informed me that he had not owned an iPad mini, however, did not verify if he has ever owned an Apple device or purchased from the Apple store.  My only conclusion at this point is that perhaps the device shipped to me as a refurbished item?  Would you expect that if you Reset a device any previously entered Apple ID would be wiped out?  I purchased my device from a reputable Mac dealer and is supposed to be a brand new device.  If I can determine this is a refurb, then I would like to return it for a refund or a new device.
I would appreciate any advice, suggestions, ideas, or comments.

You can see the model number in Settings>General>About>Model. The model number has a two-letter code, a number and some more letters. The last part stands for the country/region. The first letter can be "F" (refurbished), "M" (normal retail), or "P" (personalized / engraved). For example MC605B is the model MC605 and B is for the region. (The model number is also on the box.)
Take the iPad back to the store.

    When I try to register my iPad mini with the Apple Support in my profile page, it says that my serial number is already registered to another Apple ID, and to check to see if I've got any other IDs. I ordered this directly from Apple when it was released, and it had never been opened. I contacted Apple, and their records show that it's registered to me. But I'd like to register it online so I can submit questions and any maintenance requests, which I can't do because I can't register it. Has anyone else had this problem?

    I tried. They said their records showed that the iPad was registered to my Apple ID. They had no explanation why my serial number couldn't be registered. Felt I was getting the run around so I thought I'd toss it out to the community.

  • Ipad mini retina and Apple TV

    I just got a retina Ipad mini a little over a week ago and an Apple TV (3) yesterday. When I turned on mirroring on my 1080p TV I get black bars on either side and a slightly narrower image on the TV. I figured this is due to the different aspect rations of the Ipad (2048x1536) and the max resolution of the display (1920x1080). I've tried using the TV (Sony XBR2) screen adjustments but can't get a full screen without zooming - which of course, cuts off the edges of the display. The only solution appears to be getting a newer TV that can handle the higher Ipad resolution but that would involve having to get a new TV. Are there any other options short of replacing my TV with one that does the higher res?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
    If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • On my ipad mini, when I delete an email from the inbox (and it goes into Trash), it immediately deletes that email from the server (ATT/Yahoo).  I've called support for both ATT and Apple and can't find a way to have the emails remain on the server.

    [The curious thing is, if I "move" the deleted emails from Trash on my iPad Mini into the Inbox, I can go to my notebook, open my online email and they are back in my ATT/Yahoo Inbox.]

    Also, iOS devices will not pair with any other iPhone or iPad as you have found out. They are designed to be paired with bluetooth keyboards, stereos, headsets and, for thethering only, phones and computers.

    I readed many reviews from december 2013 that say thar ipad mini 2 screen only covers 63% of adobe srgb colour gamut. Nexus 7 covers 100%
    All this issues where noticed on the end of 2013. I want to know if this is fixed or the problem continues now
    Those of you who have an ipad mini and ipad air too, Can you compare and say me if you notice any colour issue. your ipad mini have to be bought on 2014 becouse its known that ipad mini retina 2013 have the issue.

    I will agree with this. I have an iPad 3, an iPad 4, an iPad mini (1st gen) and an iPad mini Retina. Direct comparison between the devices reveals lack of color saturation on the mini Retina but it's not as bad as some may make it out to be. I'll also agree about it's looking more natural compared to the others, especialy compared to the iPad 3 & iPad 4 which can almost seem a bit on the garish side as far as saturation goes. It's almost (but not quite) like buying a new LCD TV and using it's default picture setting which is almost always "Dynamic"...and what the stores set it to to get them to "pop" on the display wall. It's nowhere near being a natural image. As was mentioned, yes the saturation is a bit diminished on the mini Retina but I wouldn't consider it much of an issue...
    That being said, I don't know if it has been "corrected" since I don't consider it much of an issue to begin with.

    Thank you for your reply Domingo.  Your suggestion worked as far as sending me a link to buy the book at iTunes.  But it did not allow me to download the book from my wife's account.  I did finally get an answer from Apple.  It took an entire day of emailing back and forth and the final answer was relatively easy once Apple finally decided to give up the solution.  Basically, you have to open ibooks and sign out.  Then you have to sign into ibooks using the book purchaser's Apple ID and password.  Then you can download the book onto your device.  Not too bad, huh?  It only took a whole day of Apple people sending me wrong instructions before they figured it out.  Geez.  What a disappointing experience.

    Hi, I did use my current apple ID to activate the device but I can't see it as one of my devices that are registerd to my ID. I have an iPhone and an iPad 2 that shows when I look on the devices connected to my account. Should I reset anything to do new registration? I have tried to log out of itunes account and login again but it still doesn't work.

  • Ipad mini retina not connecting to Tmobile

    I bought an iPad mini retina with TMobile as the carrier and was able to take advantage of the free 200 MB. The iPad had to be replaced after becoming stuck in a loop that wouldn't allow it to reboot.  Apple gave me a new iPad and I put my SIM card in from the original assuming it would simply transfer over.  I have spent many hours on the phone with TMobile tech support and no one has been able to fix the problem. Any ideas?

    Okay so I'm guessing from here your account and everything is already set up try doing this and see if it helps.
    Go to settings > general > and reset network settings if not go to the apple store and ask for a new tmobile sim for free
    You could also try going to settings > general > reset > and click on subscriber settings which I think only refreshes or reconfigures the network

    But it's a verizon but I have tmobile I had the same issue cause we screwed up on activation I just reset network settings turned airplane mode on and off then logged in made sure the ipad was active and running on the plan which is the 200mb for free plan

When I touch the share button (square with arrow pointing up), all the share options are listed but the option for email.     If you are having an issue with your iPad randomly restarting, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article - 
    iOS: Device unexpectedly restarts, displays Apple logo, or powers off
    In particular, since your iPad is up to date with iOS 8.0.2 -
    If you still see this issue after updating, contact Apple Support.

  • 16GB iPad Mini Retina full with 10.3GB of 'Other'?

    My 16GB iPad Mini Retina has been giving me 'storage almost full' messages lately despite me deleting all my videos, nearly all my photos, many apps, etc. I actually have very little stuff stored on it compared to this annoying, mysterious 'other'. No music, no TV shows, no movies, very few documents, emails or anything. I deleted big apps like Twitter and it's made no difference. When I connect my iPad to my Mac and open iTunes, here's what it says is on the Mini:
    Capacity 11.69GB
    149 MB Photos
    1.08 GB Apps
    169 MB Documents + Data
    10.30 GB of OTHER
    Not sure what's going on. I can't even update to the latest iOS update or even save a single photo. Any ideas of what's wrong and what I can do?

    Thanks for that link Kappy; I'd read that previously, but that's for clearing out stuff you might have accumulated along the way - which I understand and appreciate. It's having 0.5Gb on the shrink-wrapped device that's confusing me.
    I would walk down to the Apple Store, but last time I had a problem the Genius said "I'll just Google that..." which didn't inspire confidence :-)

  • Itunes no longer connects to 5S, ipad Mini retina and ipad 2 after ios 8.02 update

    Since the ios 8 and now 8.02 updates my Itunes does not connect at all to my iphone 5s, ipad mini (retina) and ipad 2.
    iTunes' built in diagnostic sync test says no devices found.
    I plug in the USB and nothing happens.
    USB ports are working fine. All my other USB plug ins still work fine.
    Same computer, same Windows 7 - 64 bit - all updated.
    I did a clean iTunes delete per Apple instructions and then re installed iTunes again per Apple instructions and still nothing.
    I got first a missing DLL error message and then not even a beep when plugging in the cord (yes all Apple accessories).
    Anyone else run into this issue?
