IPAD MINI W/RETINA vs. IPAD MINI
Does the faster processor in the IPAD Mini with Retina Display improve the Face Time quality over regular IPAD Mini?
Thanks
No. Facetime quality is dependant on Internet connection speed. Slow internet means bad quaity. Fast insternet means good quality.
That's it.

Wifi does not work correctly on iPad Mini w/ Retina display
I've found that Wifi does not work properly on the iPad mini w/ Retina display.
Some background: I own three iPads (iPad mini w/ retina display, iPad mini, and iPad 3rd gen), an iPod touch 5th gen, and a Macbook Air, and use them all frequently with my pocket Wifi router.
None of them exhibit any Wifi problems whatsoever except for my iPad mini w/ retina display.
Here are the details:
In the middle of using Wifi with my pocket Wifi router, the Wifi connection will abrubptly drop, then reconnect. After the Wifi reconnects, it is no longer able to connect to the internet (even though Wifi itself is connected).
Once the iPad mini w/ retina display's Wifi gets into this state, the following may or may not restore WiFi temporarily:
Restart the device
Reset network settings
Yet, even if connectevitiy is restored, the problem will happen again within minutes.
When the iPad mini w/ retina display gets into this state, the Wifi on my iPod touch, other iPads, and on my Macbook Air work perfectly fine, so I know the problem is not with my Wifi device or it's connection, but specifically with the iPad mini w/ retina display
Note:
The iPad mini w/ retina display never has any issues with my home or work Wifi networks. The problem only happens when connected to my pocket Wifi device. Yet, all of my other iOS devices and my MacBook Air work perfectly with my pocket Wifi device, therefore I know the problem is not with the pocket Wifi device, but with the iPad mini with retina display.
Solutions:
Resetting the iPad mini w/ retina display to factory settings does not solve the problem
Resetting network settings on the iPad mini w/ retina display does not solve the problem
I have even replaced my original iPad mini w/ retina and got a new one. Yet, the new device exhibits the exact same behavior as the original device.
Conclusion:
I know this is not a hardware problem (since it happened with both my original as well as replacement device).
I know this is not a problem with my pocket WiFi router, since it works perfectly with all of my other iOS devices and MacBook Air.
Therefore, this must be a software / firmware bug with the iPad mini w/ retina display. Apple will need to fix this in a future software update.
Has anyone else seen this problem?I too have experienced this issue over the past two days... I have a 16gb ipad mini retina, for reference. I bought the device one week ago, and had not experience any issues at all until bringing my device to work. I logged into my work's enterprise level wireless network both yesterday and today, maintained normal wifi capabilities for 2-4 hours each day, and was then randomly dropped, both days. I tried hard resets, resetting my network settings, airplane mode, etc. Nothing has worked. I am still offline on my ipad mini retina.
My iPhone 5 is sitting right next to my iPad mini retina. The iPhone is currently connected to the same very network, and has been for the past two years. I have never lost connection on my iPhone's wifi, just my iPad mini retina.
This must be some kind of bug, as it does not sound like a hardware nor network issue.
Hopefully they fix this in 7.1. -
Itunes no longer connects to 5S, ipad Mini retina and ipad 2 after ios 8.02 update
Since the ios 8 and now 8.02 updates my Itunes does not connect at all to my iphone 5s, ipad mini (retina) and ipad 2.
iTunes' built in diagnostic sync test says no devices found.
I plug in the USB and nothing happens.
USB ports are working fine. All my other USB plug ins still work fine.
Same computer, same Windows 7 - 64 bit - all updated.
I did a clean iTunes delete per Apple instructions and then re installed iTunes again per Apple instructions and still nothing.
I got first a missing DLL error message and then not even a beep when plugging in the cord (yes all Apple accessories).
Anyone else run into this issue?
Sheesh I hate updates!
Thanks! For device connectivity issues see TS1538: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows, in particular section 5, and TS4062: iTunes 10.5 and later: Troubleshooting iTunes Wi-Fi syncing.

After updating to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad mini w/Retina, FaceTime crashes
I updated to iOS 8.0.2 on my iPad mini w/Retina Display 128Gb. Now, when I attempt to open the FaceTime app it begins to initialize and then simply crashes out. I can receive a FaceTime call and the FaceTime app will open but I cannot initiate a FaceTime call. I have “Restored” my iPad mini twice but on both occasions I have restored from a backup. As the behaviour continues, this leads me to believe that my backup is potentially corrupted. I do not wish to “Restore as new” because of the substantial time burden this would place on me to manually reinstall all of my apps, passwords, settings and customizations that ten months of usage of my iPad mini has entailed.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to correct this problem? Will an impending iOS 8.1 update correct this issue? Thanks in advance for any replies.I am heaving the same problem but in this case is rather exemptuated; i live in dubai and in order to use facetime i need a vpn service which i regularly use with facetime and Skype through my ipad mini retina display 2013; the problem started after i upgraded to iOS 8 and then it got worst after the 8.01 and then the 8.02 upgrade, it claimed to fix some bugs but unfortunately it worsen my performance; when i set the vpn on and then use the ipad it constantly shows a grey screen with the words "Poor Coneectivity" and it remains that way for the whole conversation, it is gruesome, i did reset my device and to make matters worse it didn't want to download all my apps from either my itunes nor through my iCloud backup, it was from bad to worse, after i got that settled it still remained the same "poor connectivity" issues as well as the wifi dropping as well as the data, and it claimed that my data and wifi were off when it wasn't.
At first i thought something is not right, not even the iOS 7 did this when it first came out; and today i realised that when i picked up my ipad it was frozen sideways as if i tilted it (when read or watch videos for a better perspective) and i noticed that the lock rotation icon was not turned on and it was locked in that sideways position; i had to reset the ipad and then it started to work again fine except for the facetime, which by the way bluetooth also gives me issues.
the only way i could verify my ipad's status was for me to use my iphone 6's facetime and it worked fine, the tilting the audio as well as the bluetooth; the only issue my iphone 6 gave me was that the wifi and data would suddenly come out asking me to connect to a wifi or turn on data for facetime use etc and it would try to reconnect; which is the same issue that a lot of people are facing with the ios8 upgrade and the latter upgrades were said to fix that particular issue but it didn't.
i am worried and i don't know if my ipad is going through hardware issues or its only the iOS setbacks that came with the upgrade, any ideas, thank you. -
My iPad Mini with retina display suddenly will not connect to the Internet. It shows full wifi bars, yet no web pages will load. My Internet is working with all other apple devices in my house. The iPad also no longer works with celluar data. I'm not sure what has happened. It was working fine a few hours ago. I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

I have an iPhone 4s 16GB Model and I've been using it for about more than an year now. The reason I wanna get a new iOS device is because my 4s has got lots of scratches now and it's ambient light sensor seems not to work properly. Apparently, another reason is that the iLife and iWork suit are not free for me as my device is older and new devices get those softwares for free.
I thought to go with a new iPhone 4s again but the problem is that new 4s come with only 8GB of storage and they don't support AirDrop. So next, I thought to go with an iPod touch 5th gen because of its jaw-dropping design, bigger screen, more storage and AirDrop support. Because iPod touch is phone-less iPhone and they come at affordable price, I can also buy any cheap cell phone like moto e to replace my current iPhone 4S.
Another options that I thought a little bit on, is iPad 4th Gen and iPad mini with Retina display 16GB.
Now, should I just stick with my current 16GB iPhone 4s, or get a new one.
Or should I buy an iPod touch 5th gen and moto e (since iPod can't make phone calls)
Or should I go with one of the two iPad models that I aforementioned.
Awaiting your valuable suggestions.
Thank you!Found one on best buy

by Belkin, so a place to start.
They're a lot more expensive, but Griffin has some of their 'survivor' cases with sealed ports, so you could cover up the ones you don't need.
If best buy isn't an option for you, at least there's a manufacturer to look for. -
have 2 mini ipads. 1st gen can no longer add digital movies from my iTunes library/purchased content. cannot sync; error msg "cant be played in HD; your computer must have Windows 7 & a built in display or a display that supports HDCP. My mini w/Retina works fine. My PC is on Windows XP so I installed Windows 7 (dual boot) but my iTunes library is linked to the XP Operating System. Added about 100 digital movies to my iTunes library on Windows 7. How can I fix the 1st gen mini iPAD to accept the High Def content? It worked back in Feb 2014 when I added movies, but not this time? Thanks.
Would you mind opening a new bug on this at bugbase.adobe.com? Please include your dxdiag report, a specific URL and a link to this forum thread.
In the meantime, you might want to try our 11.3 beta or rollback to a previous version of the player to see if that resolves the problem.
Thanks,

I have MacBook Pro OS X 10.9.1 & want to get an iPad mini w/retina.
My main purpose for buying is: when traveling I want to put pictures & write stories on my laptop, then transfer to mini. Taking only the mini to wifi location to e-mail via safari. Is this possible & easy to do? If so how? Thanks ahead.Take your file and use handbrake to convert the video file to m4v to play in iTunes then sync to iPad Mini

Is there some secret to getting Pentax K-3 .dng files to display thumbnails when importing to an iPad (mini w/retina)? Files import fine, but no thumbnail. Mac OS had compatibility with those files added long ago. Am I missing something?
I agree Terrance. However, I was able to copy other large batches of other files (my music for example) without any issues. The issue only showed up when copying iPhoto's library and/or the photos themselves. This was repeated 3 times; I copied all my other files to the drive then it unmounted on iPhoto. And, as I said, again when I started with a fresh reformat and just iPhoto. That does not seem like hardware to me if it is only happening with one set of files.
I have managed to get the iPhoto library to work on my other external drive. It wanted a rebuild twice and a thumbnail rebuild once. I am now attempting to copy it over to the new HGST internal drive.
Anyone have a suggestion for alternatives to iPhoto? I have aperture, maybe I will try that. But from what I understand, it just shares the same library as iPhoto. -
Aavailabe Space in iPad mini with retina display 16 GB
Hello,
I am considering to buy iPad mini with retina display 16 GB model. After searching a lot, I couldn't find the space available for the users. Can you please tell me the available memory for users (apart from the OS)?
It would also be helpful if you also post the memory available for users in iPad Air 16 GB.
Thanks in advance,
Vaibhav SharanYou'll have approximately 13 gig and change to use after you take out the operating system.

When is the ipad mini with retina display launching
Yeah I'm thinking of buying an Ipad mini but I don't know whether to wait for when it comes out with retina display because I don't want to wait particularly long
We are fellow users, we won't know if/when there might be an iPad Mini with retina display until if/when Apple announce something.

Ipad mini (not retina) purchase question
Hi, If I bought an ipad mini from an apple store tomorrow (not the retina one), would it come with ios6 pre installed?
No way to know for certain. Apple.com shows the ipad mini (not retina) as having ios 7. If you are purchasing from a retail store, it will depend on if the device has been upgraded yet.

Is iPad Mini with Retina display screen a gorilla glass?
Is iPad Mini with Retina display screen a gorilla glass?
No it's definitely not gorilla glass... I don't know if it's even hardened glass. My iPad Mini's screen broke the other day with the slightest bump. When I submitted it to Apple to be fixed (I assumed it was weakened in production or something) they said it would cost $225 to replace it. So yeah, be very very very careful with your iPads... don't let your kids touch them or anything (buy them Kindle Fires). I'm going to attempt to fix my iPad Mini's screen myself (lest I cut myself). If that doesn't work I guess I'll have to move on to Android tablets with gorilla glass...

I want to change my16giga byte ipad mini with retina display to the 32giga one because i think its capacity is insufficient. So could i change to 32giga by giving an extra charge. I bought 16giga ipad mini on thanksgivingday, maybe 30. November
If bought directly from an Apple Retail store or Apple Online store, and is still within the 14 day return period Apple Offers you can take it back and get a full refund which you can then use towards buying the other version.
If its already past the 14 day period then you won't be able to return it for a refund no.
If you did not buy it from an Apple Retail store or Apple Online Store you will have to consult with the store you bought it from about their return policies.
