IPad no longer charging

My iPad is no longer charging via Apple chargers and cords that used to charge it very well.  The charging battery icon shows it is charging but the % keeps dropping.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thank you

Is it still under warranty? I'd take it into your local apple store and have them take a look at it. It's possible that your battery is sick. Or that the software that regulates and monitors the battery has issues.

  • Does any1 having the new ipad experiencing longer charging time?

My the new ipad take more than 3 hours to charge for 50 % and worser than it took apx 8 hour to charge from 20%
Im very disapointed regarding this problem and hopefully apple will take responsibility regarding it..oh ya today one of apple staff call me reporting about my ipad problem, they said that " we never experience such problem " but i could find many people complaining about it in many ipad forum, hope i will be provided will best solution..thx

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPad 3rd gen no longer charges unless shut off and not recognized by iTunes

iPad 3rd gen no longer charges unless shut off and not recognized by iTunes.  Done 2 resets, used original charger and cable and bought brand new charger and cable from Apple store.  Nothing works.  This started yapping after the iOS 7.1.1 update.

Common troubleshooting is to try a different USB port and to give your ipad a reset. (hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot)
You can also try on a different computer to see if it's the ipad or the computer.
When you charge, do you try to charge plugged into the wall? that's the best way to charge.
If you go through all that and it's still not working hten it may be time to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out

  • From today both my iPad and iPhone will no longer charge

It's the weirdest thing. My Iphone & Ipad will no longer charge. They both worked/ charged fine yesterday.
I have tried various other chargers for my iPhone as we have other Apple equipment at our house & they all charge fine.
The lightning bolt is not appearing when charging & nor do either of them beep when charging. My iPad is not even 6mths old!
And isnt it weird that its both? Is that a hardware or iCloud problem
    Please can someone help.

First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart. See if that fixes your problem.
    Do same for iPhone.

  • I have tried all sugestions for how to charge my ipad 2 that no longer charges, and nothing seems to work, can anyone offer any new advise?

I have tried all sugestions for how to charge my ipad 2 that no longer charges, and nothing seems to work, can anyone offer any new advise?

While both the iPhone and the iPad use an Apple dock cable for charging, the iPad wants a 1100 mA charger, and the iPhone charger's a 500 mA charger. USB ports on newer Apple computers can switch into 1100 mA mode, but your average computer is going to put out no more than 500 mA and, possibly, quite less (for example, an un-powered USB hub will only put out 100 mA or so, and an iPad won't charge off that). The iPad will say "not charging" if it is trickle-charging (receiving less than 1000 mA of power).
If the problem persists when using the 1100 mA iPad charger, you need to take it to an Apple store and have it serviced or replaced. Bring the iPad charger that you received with the iPad as it may be that the charger is defective and not putting out 1100 mA.
If the problem is that it charges slow because it's being connected to iPhone chargers or PCs or older Macs, then it's not a problem with the iPad. It's charging, it just takes a long time because you are using an under-powered charger.

Where can I find a longer charging cable for my Ipad 3??

Use Google and you can find them all, over the place.

I just connect my standard 3 foot cable that came with the iPad into the power block and plug the power block into an 8 foot standard white household extension cord. I have done this since day one and it works great.

The genius bar is the service desk at the Apple Store. If there are no Apple Stores in your country, then check the Apple website to find an authorized service provider.
Apple charges US$99 to replace the battery in an iPad (any model).

  • IPad isn't recognised by computer and no longer charges

I can't update to ios5 as my ipad2 isn't recognised by the computer when I plug it in to USB port.  I've tried to charge the iPad but the iPad states "not charging". It only trickle charges now.  Tried re-installing iTunes, using different USB ports and connectors as well as carols different plug sockets.  Very grateful for any suggestions as I'm baffled! Thanks

You could try testing with another program like Image Capture found in the Applications folder.
If that program also does not show the camera then try a different USB port on the computer.
If you have a memory card reader you could try that as well.
If the issue still persists then checking your camera's settings in keeping with TD's advice would be a good idea. It may be in the wrong mode.

  • IPad doesn't charge all the time

Ipad doesn't charge all the time

Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.

  • My ipad 3 stopped charging, not the adapter and reboot doesn't do anything.  I've tried all the tricks and different adapters and now my nearest Apple store is saying it just doesn't work and it'll be $300 to replace.  Only had it 1 yr and half.

My ipad 3 suddenly stopped charging last week.  I've tried different adapters, to no avail.  I didn't drop it or spill anything on it.  I don't have tons of apps, so plenty of memory.  My husband took it to the Apple store for me and they tried charging it too even though I knew that wasn't the problem and then said it wasn't working (no kidding) and then told him it would be $300 to replace.  Seeing as I've only had it for a year and a half and it cost more than twice that to begin with, I'm a little ticked that it stops charging, a problem I know is very common according the all the message boards and they want to charge me $300.  I've always heard that Apple was so good to it's customers, but my iphone has been a nightmare, and now my ipad won't charge.  Also, I've tried the reset options I've read about and none worked.  Sorry, just really upset.  I thought I was paying all this money for better quality and now I feel foolish for having done so.  Anybody with any ideas I, or the genius at Apple haven't thought of?  Help is appreciated.  Thanks.

May be some help on one of these links.
