IPad resolution setting VGA tv cable ?

Just got my tv cable and my tv is recognizing the iPad automatically at 1440*900 60hz, but the issue is that the image doesn't fill the entire screen up! There is a black empty space on each vertical side. Need help here.
My tv screen is a 32'

While I do not know what your technical problem might be, I'll just mention that the AppleTV's maximum resolution/capability is 720p. So it's not likely you're going to miss anything with your TV at that setting.

I got a VGA/DVI cable to connect the VGA port on my LCD TV to the DVI port on my desktop computer. I'm trying to use 2 monitors on my computer which has both a VGA and DVI port. My regular monitor was already on, and the computer detected the TV as a monitor but the TV wouldn't detect a signal. I had the TV on the VGA/PC setting. Ooooooh. So your computer may be one of the rare animals that doesn't have a DVI-I output, only DVI-D.
Since your TV has HDMI inputs, this is the way to go. Get a DVI-to-HDMI cable. It will provide higher quality than VGA and is USUALLY easier to use, I've never had video timing/resolution support issues with HDMI. (However, every computer I own has an Nvidia graphics card - the story may be different for ATI or Intel graphics!)

I have the same mini display port adapter and Belkin DVI-HDMI cable (but a Panasonic 42" Plasma HDTV) so just set this up on it to see if I could duplicate your problem, unfortunately for you (but good for me) I can't.
I connected the adapter+HDMI cable before switching the HDTV on and then powered up the MBP. It (the HDTV) came up with my background right away (it's set at Mirror not extended Desktop) and when I run System Preferences/Displays get the following. Sorry but all I can confirm is that adapter+cable combination should work ...

How to connect the iPad to a VGA projector

I read the comments about using the iPad with a VGA projector for presentations, but those were for the original iPad. My association is asking me to present a live demonstration of the new iPad 2. I tested the iPad 2 with the digital connector to HDMI on my TV and that works great. I can move around all the screens on my iPad and even play Angry Birds.
But what about connecting this iPad 2 to a VGA projector? All the earlier comments referred to that process as "very limited" with only a few apps running on it, like Keynote. That won't do for my presentation. Is there a solution or does the new iPad 2 fully support a standard (read old) VGA projector?

It is my understanding that the dgital adapter will give you full video mirroring over HDMI from the iPad 2, although there are some reported models of TVs and projectors that have issues, but that analog signaling, such as VGA, is limited to apps specifically written to provide access to that type of video connection.

Mini DisplayPort to VGA, bad cable/connection?

So I have had this Apple version of the Mini DisplayPort to VGA cable for a little while now, not sure if it has been a year yet...and well it has stopped working. I noticed this after my friend was messing with it on his MacBook, but I do not know if it was him or not. The problem is that the cable will connect to my Mac, but it will not display onto my external monitor...that is unless I press downlwards on the white cable, and as soon as I do it stops. Is there anything I can do about this? Would this be considered something that would be under warranty?

I'll push down on the cable, my MacBook screen goes blue for a second as it usually does and then I will be mirroring on both MacBook and my external display (I am still holding down the wire), and as soon as I let go my MacBook acts as if the VGA adapter cable is not even plugged in. Does it ask for the old device by name? How do you know it isn't restored? Have you completed setup and checked on the device?
Are you using the same iTunes account and Apple ID?
On your iTunes account, Open preferences, go to devices tab
Look in the box for a backup of your old device. Is there a backup?
If there is no backup, you have nothing to restore.

You should be able to accept this message, it will cause existing music, photos (not camera roll) and videos (also excluding those in camera roll) to be removed and replaced with those from this computer. All other user data on the iPad will be unaffected.

If you're in the US and have an account in the US iTunes Store, then go here and check the region:
Settings > iTunes & App Stores > tap your Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region
If you find that it is set to the correct region, log out of your iTunes Store account, restart your iPad, and sign into your account again.
If you are in Colombia, then you cannot use the US iTunes Store, and you can't use a US credit card in the Colombian iTunes Store.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.
