Ipad, router to storage.

I am curious about something. I have a apple airport extreme router which allows you to plug in usb storage or printer. If i plug in a storage device, what program can I use to access files to that?
example: a usb stick with word files. What could I use to grab a pages document from there and open it on my ipad?
Havent got home to try it yet, but just curious. Any thoughts? Thanks.

File browser.
It's in the App Store. Lets me view and open files in pages or other apps. I have a USB hub with a hdd and USB sticks plugged into my AirPort Extreme. I can view every file on one of those or files on computers. Works awesome.

Not enough storage space. Do you backup to icloud? When you plug your ipad into charge it backs up to icloud. Your out of icloud storage. Could be the reason.
Locked....hmm... Did you try a reboot? Hold the home and power button(same time) till the screen goes black and apple logo appears. Ignore red sliders.

  • Can I run an app on USB flash connected to router with storage link?

    Hello,
I'm considering purchasing the E2100L wireless router with storage link.  When a client with a specific MAC address joins the network, I want to run a script which makes an ftp connection and puts a file from the USB flash to the client.  Is it possible to run a Linux bash script from the USB flash drive to perform this task automatically?

Not possible. Check 3rd party firmware like dd-wrt.

I've heard that SSD storage have lifetime issue, due to it only support number of times for write/erase.
Will 64GB have a longer lifetime then 32 GB?
Is 64GB Ipad using 2 32GB SSD flash storage?
    Thanks.

That may help. The SSD will last for some years.

  • Ipad updating and storage issue

How do I retrieve my ipad setting in storage?  I seem to have deleted it trying to update

I suggest you try using other words to ask your question.  I've read it several times and do not understand the question.
Are you trying to update your iPad's iOS version?  Are you trying to do this over-the-air, or using iTunes on your computer?  What type of iPad do you have (how old)?  What version of iOS is it running?  Are you using "retrieve my iPad setting in storage" to refer to some type of backup you did?  When and how did you do this backup?

  • My ipad mini icloud storage will not drop below 2.5 GB.

My ipad mini icloud storage will not drop below 2.5 GB. I have deleted/OFFed everything. Still at 2.5?!?! I have removed and restored account. Still at 2.5. When I turn on larger apps like iMovie and garage band, it will go above 2.5, but never below. I have turned off all apps and all things like mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, safari, photo stream, and documents. Still 2.5. I also have an iPhone linked to the account it is using 911 mb's of storage,
I will not buy more storage.
Hopefully someone can figure this out
    Thank-you,
    Jeanmarie

When you turn off mail, contacts, etc on your devices, that does not remove them from the icloud server; it just prevents the data from syncing to the device.  Your email, for example, remains on icloud until you delete all of it.  Same for contacts, etc.  Have you done that?

  • How do i move files from ipad to shared storage, how do i move files from ipad to shared storage

I have run out of room on my 64GB iPad.  It contains two series of a TV program and I want to keep the episodes.  However I would like to be able to get at these episodes wherever I am located be it in Australia, Europe or the USA so would like to have them located in shared storage.  What is the best way to achieve this.  I am somewhat confused with my choices and my last update experience of losing a number of movies makes me nervous.  Any suggestions would be great.  Thanks

All of your purchases are available free again from the stores. You can delete them and when you want to access them again just go to the store under purchased and select the ones you want. I do this all the time on my 16 gig ipad.

  • IPad Mini Stays Storage Almost Full

My iPad mini keeps ghost filling my storage. In restarting it, my free space would come back. After it would continually do this, I restored my ipad to factory settings and reinstalled my apps. The problem has persisted. Anyone know why it would do this or how to fix the problem?

    http://www.igeeksblog.com/how-to-remove-other-data-from-iphone/
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6/7, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.

  • Sync Pictures with iPad from Network Storage

Is it possible to sync photos from a network storage area instead of the HD?
If so where can i set the options in iTunes so that I can sync my photos not from my Mac but from a network drive/area?
    Thanks

Hei Alfred, I set them all up to do the same thing in settings. Ie, using the same icloud account, switching on the icloud account for photos, my photo stream is on, so is photo sharing. The imac and ipad have functioned well all the time. The iphone is newer.  I made sure that the iphone had the same settings for photos as the ipad, but no photos have ever gone automatically into icloud from the iphone. I have always had to do it manually. It is the same with my husbands phone and he has had it much longer. He isn't so computer literate, but I'm beginning to doubt myself now!

  • IPad Retina Mini storage stats sluggish..

I've had my Retina Mini for a couple of weeks now and it runs just fine but every time I want to see how much space is left on the ipad (it's only a 16gb so space is tight!), it takes between 40 seconds and a minute to tell me I have X mb/gb left!
In case you're not sure how to get this info, it's in Settings, General, Usage. The applist appears on the top right eventually.
On my wife's ipad 3, running the same 7.04, it takes about 2 seconds. Both of us have a nearly identical app list installed!
I've tried reseting, restoring but it doesn't make a difference at all. Has anyone had this problem?

    Hi maxgkx,
I understand you would like more information about storage capacity, and how it is reported. The following article provides helpful information on the topic:
How OS X and iOS report storage capacity - Apple Support
Understanding storage capacity in iPad, iPhone, iPod
When you view the storage capacity of your iPod, iPhone, iPad, or other electronic devices within its operating system, the capacity is reported using the the binary system (base 2) of measurement. In binary, 1 GB is calculated as 1,073,741,824 bytes.
For example: The way decimal and binary numeral systems measure a GB is what causes a 32 GB storage device to appear as approximately 28 GB when detailed by its operating system, even though the storage device still has 32 billion bytes (not 28 billion bytes), as reported.
You can see this difference if you look at how your computer summarizes the capacity of your iPod, iPad, or iPhone’s storage when the device is connected to your computer. You will also see this difference in the About menu on your iPod, iPad, or iPhone. The important point to understand is that the available storage capacity is the same no matter which system (decimal or binary) is used. Nothing is missing.
The storage media in your Apple product, like all storage devices, uses some of its capacity for formatting, so actual capacity available for applications and files will be less. In addition, other factors, such as pre-installed systems or other software and media, will also use part of the available storage capacity.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Bobby_D

  • IPad's real storage

    Hello!
I got an iPad; in the back of it is written 32 GB.
I try to download an small size app but I could not. Why?
It was because I had no space available.
SoI went to Settings> General> Usage> Storage and I saw: 27.7 GB Used and 277 MB Available.
Well, I am a High Scholl Math teacher and I had the notion that I should have more than that; so I did the Math and founded that I am using only 14.012 GB.
The only thing that is not counted is the iOS 6 itself.
Is there anything that I am missing?

  • IPad's available storage on arrival

I got a 32GB last Saturday. When I was activating the iPad, I noticed that the avialble storage was a little over 29 GB.
Is this normal? Can anyone who bought a 32 GB model confirm?

    kreme wrote:
Yes. In layman's terms, vendors 'round' the numbers off to make it sound like you're getting more space than you are.
    No.
See below - rounding is not involved - its very precise. 32 does not 'round off' to 29 and a bit.
