IPad stuck in restore mode after update to iOS 8.02

I attempted to do this yesterday and after the update was extracted I kept getting an Unknown error 3104. I tried everything form editing the hosts file in Windows 8.1, disabling my Anti-Virus. Uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, resetting my router, etc, etc but nothing worked!!! This was very distressing for me as I couldn't use the iPad!!
This morning I tried one last thing. I Downloaded iTunes on another Windows 8.1 PC I have and connected the iPad to it. It detected that it was in Restore mode and download the update from Apple and finally restored the iPad to factory settings!! After this I connected the iPad back on my original PC and restore it to how it was from the last backup made yesterday. Phew!! Apple should say something like this for other users or at least provide some way to get out of restore mode if an update fails or becomes corrupt!!

Apple does make the suggestion to try another computer and another Internet connection for that very same error code that you got.
Restore or update on another computer
Try to restore or update on another computer with a different Internet connection. This will help rule out other issues on your computer that might stop iTunes from communicating with the update server.
Errors 1639, 3000-3020, and 3100-3999 (with the exception of 3194) are sometimes caused by your network settings. If your computer uses a managed network, refer to your network administrator. Proxies, firewalls, and other network security measures can cause these errors. If necessary, find a different network connection to restore the device. For example, if you're restoring at work, try to restore at home or on a friend's computer and network.

  • HELP! iPhone 4s is stuck in recovery mode after updating to ios 7.1 over wifi

okay so today I updated my iphone to iOS 7.1 over wifi, and after it shut down to restart it went to recovery mode and now its stuck. Ive tried TinyUmbrella and DFU mode and nothing's working, and i need it fixed by TOMORROW. Any ideas?

    Close iTunes
Check your hosts file which is located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Open that file (notepad will do fine) and check if you can find a line which contains "apple.com"
If there is one write a # in front of the line, save the file to your Desktop and then Drop&Drop it into the file path mentioned above. Yes to overwrite.
Now launch iTunes and try again!

  • Phone stuck in recovery mode after update to ios 6.0.1

    Hi Guys,
I tried to update my phone to the newest software but I got an error message 1611 - It hasnt worked! and now my phone is stick in recovery mode and every time i try to restore it i keep getting the same error message.
Ive tried doing it with out any security software running on my pc at all, but still doesnt work!
i have had nothing but issues with iphones and itunes since SJ passed away!!! im sure its not related but the whole apple stall seems to be going down in quality recently

    NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!
Both my daughter and I had the same problem on different computers. Hers is an iPhone 4 and mine, a 5. Both got caught in recovery mode. I did follow the above mention troubleshooting however to no avail. Took it into the Apple shop yesterday and they restored it back to the factory setting for 6.0.1. Lost all of my content on the phone.
The Genisus stated that is it a Windows problem.
Yes, I agree, that Apple has lowered their delivery and service. It is true, that Apple is the new Microsoft, that it is ok to have problems when upgrading and when it hangs, just reload.
AVOID THE UPGRADE AT ALL COSTS.

  • Ipad stuck in recovery mode after accidentally unplugging it while updating

ipad stuck in recovery mode after accidentally unplugging it while updating to ios 4.2 . and when trying to restore it back it wont restore, restroing error code is 6 what to do ?

I'm not sure what you can do at this point.  If I had been in your shoes, I would have kept the pics in the camera's SD cards until my return home.
I'm really reluctant to suggest this but, at this point, you probably can't lose.  Do a "Restore."  Be forewarned that it could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
    Edit...
I just took a peek at the TinyUmbrella FAQs.  Your device has been jailbroke and that's likely the reason why the problem occurred to begin with.  Contact the jailbreaker for assistance.  Neither Apple nor anyone on the forum can help you as we do not know the characteristics of your device.

Have you tried to give your iPad a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and see if that helps.

  • My ipad 3 keeps on rebooting after updated to ios 7.1.2. what shd i do?? how to resolve the issue??

my ipad 3 keeps on rebooting after updated to ios 7.1.2. what shd i do?? how to resolve the issue??

The first thing that I would try is a reset.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
IF that doesn't stop the rebooting, you should restore the iOS Software. Read this carefully and read to all the way through before proceeding.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
At the very end of the article under "additional information" there is a link to recovery mode. You might need to use that if you cannot restore in the conventional manner.

The battery of my iPad four drawn very fast after update to iOS 8.1 and the sensitivity of my iPad decrease until I cannot swipe it and is very lag >< please fix it immediately

    Hello alicelan,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with device errors. You may want to consider restoring your device to factory settings to resolve the issues you've described:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
Restoring iOS software deletes all your data and content from your device, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar info.
    Before you restore your device
Make sure you’re using the latest version of iTunes.
Use iTunes to back up your device. Transfer and sync any additional content to your computer.
Turn off Find My iPhone in Settings > iCloud on your device to disable Activation Lock.
    Restore your iOS device
Connect your iOS device to your computer using the cable that came with it.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes. In the Summary panel, click Restore.
Click Restore again to confirm that you want to restore your device to factory settings and delete all data and content. iTunes will download the iOS software file and restore your iOS device.
After your iOS device is restored to factory settings, it will restart. Once it does, you’ll see the "Slide to set up” welcome screen. Follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. You can set up your device as new or using a previous backup. If your iOS device has cellular service, it will activate after you restore.
    Learn more
If you get an error message, find out how to fix most update and restore errors.
If your iOS device with cellular service doesn’t activate after restoring, find out how to fix activation issues.
If your iOS device restarts repeatedly or isn’t responding, for example if you see a stopped progress bar or no progress bar, put the device into recovery mode and restore it again.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
