Ipad troubles for the 1st generation.
I have had my ipad 1st generation for a little over a year, and the itunes has been acting strange all the words are squished together to the point I can't read it. Also when i'm in an app,or on the internet for a few minutes it exits out, and takes me back a few pages and/or makes me start the app entirely over. I have reset it, but it didn't seem to help. Any suggestions? Unfortunately the warrently is up I believe. Thanks!
First thing to try is a reboot of your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the iPad restart.
I know you said you reset the iPad but is the above what you did?

Ios 3.1.1 will not download for the 1st generation ipod touch
Why won't ios 3.1.1 download for the 1st generation ipod touch? It will start and then a second later stop.
Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps? You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defaults/new iPod. -
How do you get apps for the 1st generation iPod touch
How do I get apps for the 1st generation iPod touch?
By updating the iOS on the iPOd. The 1G can go as high as 3.1.3. That works with a lot of apps. But some apps require a higher iOS and/or newer iPod.

Johnette48You aren't required to do so. You can choose not to use the speaker dock or you can return the Nano.

IOS4 for the 1st generation touch
I have a first generation ipod touch. Will I be able to upgrade to IOS4? If not, does that mean my touch will not be able to use the app store anymore and upgrade my existing apps?
iOS 4 doesn't support the first generation iPod touch. The new features are too much for the first Touch to handle. (slow processor) But that doesn't mean you can't buy or update apps, it just means you don't have the latest features. But believe me, you wouldn't want to update anyway. There has been a buttload of problems to buttloads of people updating their ipod touches. 1. Battery life gone down 80 percent. 2. Errors to downloading the update and ipod in recovery mode. 3. Software update not downloading. 4. All the features aren't even available to my 2nd generation ipod touch. 5. Update erasing all apps. 6. Update erasing EVERYTHING. 7. Update slowing down entire ipod. 8. Update erasing data on apps. (like the apps were just downloaded) 9. Update screwing ipod leaving it on a screen where you can't do anything, not even restore.

Updating the 1st generation ipod
I have a 1st generation ipod touch and I had to reset it.
Since the reset I can no longer put any apps like skype,
facebook etc... It says that the software needs to be updated,
but when I try to update it says that it is up to date (3.1.3). HELP!!In actuality, the 1G can go to 3.1.3.

iOS 3.1.1 is the highest possible for the 1st generation iPod Touch. -
Now that iOS is consistently being updated. Will the 1st Generation IPad be stuck with IOS 5? Eventually my IPad will be good for nothing as Apps start requiring the updated software.
The iPad 1 can only be updated to iOS 5.1.1. This is unlikely to change.
The apps you have will continue to work and there are still many apps which run on iOS 5 (or even earlier iOS levels). -
my first gen ipad says that there isn't a software update, currently running 5.1.1 - is iOS6 not available for the first generation iPad
That's right. The iPad 1 maxes out at 5.1.1

OK, so I have the 1st generation iPad. There is an AirPlay symbol, near the music symbol. Is this useless? If I enable it, what does it enable? And, what technological advances were made over the last 2 versions that have made my iPad 1, obsolete?
Thanks for the enlightenment!
JeffMy daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

I have the 1st generation iPad. All of a sudden it will not connect to my wi-fi. It finds my wi-fi, but will not totally connect. I have done everything...reset network, rebooted router etc and it still will not connect. My other divices are connected....iPhone and 3 Macs. Any suggestions?
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
