Mirror the display onto a television set (but you CAN show movies that you've purchased or rented).
Also, the original iPad has a slower processor but I haven't noticed any issues.

It could be a problem at the other end, try again tomorrow. Also , try resetting your iPad by holding down the home and sleep/wake button till the Apple logo appears and then let it wake up, maybe that may help.

If you just want to install the apps then you can either sync them from your computer's iTunes or re-download them directly on the iPad 2 : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you want to sync the apps and their content from the frist gen iPad then you can backup the iPad 1, and then restore the iPad 2 from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4079 - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (if you don't have the apps on your computer then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519)

I have an iPad 2...My wife has the iPad----When I iMessage from my phone or iPad2, everything is synced..both devices send and receive and keep track of one another..everything works the way it is suppose to. I'm selling my first generation iPad and buying an iPad2.
What should I do when the IPad2 arrives?
When I connect it to my Mac, will it automatically transfer my stuff to the new model?
Then do I erase the stuff on the first generation?

The first time you connect the iPad 2 to your computer - the same computer used to sync your original iPad, you should be prompted to transfer the backup for your original iPad to your iPad 2. Be sure to sync your original iPad with iTunes immediately before connecting your iPad 2.
Then erase your original iPad. On the iPad, go to Settings > General > Reset and select Erase All Content and Settings. This is a secure erase that erases everything but the firmware/OS.

You should make sure that all purchases are copied to your computer's iTunes (with the iPad connected do File > Transfer Purchases). Media (music, films, tv shows) can only be downloaded from iTunes once so you need to make sure that any content that you still want is also on your computer before you give away/sell the iPad. Apps and iBooks can be re-downloaded so there is not the same risk of losing them.
If you backup your current iPad via iTunes then you can then use that backup to restore onto the new iPad2.
To remove all your content from the current iPad then Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings : (from the manual) +This resets all iPad settings to their original values and erases all your information and media+

What app are they in ? If iBooks then you can connect the iPad 2 to your computer's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases (that should copy PDFs and/or epubs that are in the iBooks app, not just actual ibooks) to copy them over to your computer's iTunes library - if you are using a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it then after doing that open iBooks on your Mac and do File > Move Books From iTunes. You can then sync them to your Air

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than Network connectivity tests, as per the following screenshot:
