IPad will not connect to any other wifi network besides iPhone hotspot.

I have 3 iPads and until recently they all worked flawlessly using a mediocre wifi signal. One of them now will only work with my iPhone hotspot and will not connect to any other wifi network. I have rest it removed the cover and it still does not work. Please advise.
Thanks

Try this Method:
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings (NO DATA WILL BE DELETED)
Reconfirm it again when the notification pops up and wait for the phone to reboot itself

you have to set up your router to solve th problem. first find and write down the ipad mac address.
then log on to your router using your laptop or any device that can connect to router at 192.168.0.1 in your web browser. please check out my posting about how to resolve the wifi connection problem.
i think the ios6 update has reset the networking but if you set up the router then you should not have the same problem any more.

If that isn't it, have you tried to find/connect to a wifi in a public area, like a mall or cafe?

  • My iPhone 4s will not connect with my home WiFi network. I have ios6 on my phone. I have updated my IMac and my MacBook Pro with iOS 10.8.2. Anyone have any suggestions? It was connecting with no problems prior to updating my two computers.

My iPhone 4s will not connect with my home WiFi network. I have ios6 on my iPhone. The connection was working perfectly before I updated my IMac and my MacBook Pro to ios 10.8.2. I have had ios6 since I purchased the phone a couple of months ago. It searches for a network and finds them, but when it asks for my password, it will not accept the password. Have never had this happen before.

If it previously connected but no longer connects try restarting the router. You may also want to try resetting the Network settings on your iPad +(Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings)+

  • New Ipad mini will not connect automatically to home WiFi network

I use a range of Apple devices at home, IPhone 4, MacBook Pro and IMAC.
They all see and connect automatically to my WiFi home network. I never experienced any difficulty with my DLINK router.
I have received a couple of days ago my new Ipad mini (Wifi+ cellullar), running IOS 602, but not equipped with a SIM card.
The device never connects automatically to the home WiFi network.
I need to open the Settings app, chose the WiFi submenu and select manually my "dlink" network. Then only can I work with my network.
I need to perform this each time I leave my home or I restart the device.
As I am experienced with Apple devices I noticed this behaviour right away and can confirm that the settings on the Ipad mini are the same as the ones of the IPhone 4. I am certain that this is a bug.
Any suggestion to overcome this major frustration?
    Patrick

  • Ive recently moved to Muscat in Oman and had wireless installed in my apartment.  I can connect to my laptop but my Ipad will not connect.  Any suggestions

Trying to connect to my Ipad.  I've used it in coffee shops in Muscat and the hotel without any problem.  I've now had wireless installed in the apartment.  I can connect to my laptop but I cannot get the Ipad connected to the wireless - I've tried everything.  Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.  I've also tried Omantel who installed the wireless without any help.

Usually I suggest checking that your WiFi router firmware is up to date, but your router was just installed.  Still, it might be worth checking with the manufacturer's web site.
    Here are Apple's support articles:
iPad:  Troubleshooting WiFi networks and connections:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3237
iPad:  Issues connecting to WiFi networks:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3304

  • IPad will not connect to public Free WIFI

I can connect to wireless router at home but can not connect to public wi fi.

If you can't get a signal, it means that you're not close enough to get the signal. Wi-Fi hotspots have a range of 150 feet, so if you're beyond that, you won't get the signal. This explains why it doesn't show up on your iPad. Please note that the Wi-Fi card in the iPad has a limited range, so keep that in mind when attempting to connect to any Wi-Fi hotspot.

  • IPhone Will Not Connect to ANY Wi-Fi Networks

I have an Airport at home that is completely open (no password, we live in the country) which my new iPhone can see in it's Wi-Fi Networks window, but when I try to connect it says, "Unable to join the network." So, I took the iPhone to the office where it can pick up 8 local Wi-Fi connections, 3 of which are open and for each one I still get the same errror. Finally, I attempted to connect to our office Wi-Fi, which is password protected, but same error.
I have read through several forums now and found similar posts but none have answers. And it makes no sense still that my home Wi-Fi, using an Apple Airport (to which I am currently surfing in order to write this post) will not let me join -- even while standing a few feet away.
    1. I have already reset the Airport
    2. I have tried both with and without WEP security turned on
    3. I do have a Wi-Fi address assigned in my General > About prefs on the iPhone
    Can someone please help?!?!

Just bought the phone today, hooked up to my personal WiFi, no apparent problems. Later on, I noticed that it had reverted to EDGE. After research, I found all the usual suspects - reboot router & phone, Airplane Mode, manually enter Subnet Mask, etc.. I could consistently connect, but then would get booted off as soon as I tried to do something online. Finally, I updated to 1.0.2. Now, it kicks me out, just as dkelly is experiencing.
How has the Software Update made things worse on this front?

  • 4S will not log onto any secure WiFi Networks

Up until 2 weeks ago my 4S was working fine with all WiFi networks.  I was traveling in Vancouver last week and tried to log onto the hotel WiFi.  It was password protected and my phone would state "incorrect" password even with the correct password.  My laptop, my wife's 4S and my son's 4S could log into the WiFi but my phone couldn't.  I wrote it off as an anomaly but now that I am back home I am having the same issue with my home WiFi that's password protected.  I have synced my phone, I have done a hard reset and I have done a network reset but nothing works.  We have 6 other devices connected to the WiFi but I keep getting an incorrect password error.
I believe something in the iOS is corrupted and I am going to do a restore. However, just wanted to see if anyone has any tips or similar experience because the restore is a little bit of a hassel.
    Thanks.

If the same issue occurs at multiple locations then the issue is with the device. You're well within your warranty so you need to call to setup a free repair/service on your device. Or go to an Apple Retail Store.
And yes, Apple wants to be paid because it's a paid support line after 90 days.

  • My ipod 4 touch will not connect to my home wifi network since I upgraded to iOS 6

When I go into Utilities/WiFi on I see name of my home network. When I tap on it it asks for password. After I type in password/join, I get message "Unable to join the Ntwork ".....". I've tried the fixes suggested through a Google search to no avail. Any Ideas?

    Did you try?
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
