So my new ipad wont turn on anymore. i have only had it for a out a month so i dont understand what could have gone wrong. I tried plugging it into the wall socket and into multiple computer usb ports and nothing happend. I tried reseting by holding the sleep and home button but nothing happend. This post is awesome Worked for me, but now im gun shy. Battery was 80%.
Not sure which of the fixes worked for you, but don't be gun shy. S* happens as they say. If it worked, chalk the problem up to the "what the heck was that". Its no different than when an application quits on my MacBook to me. I just perform the recommended reboot, restart or whatever I need to make things right again. I would be concerned if it is a recurring problem, but for every once in a while ... As I read on one post recently in a similar situation, the OP's problem was blamed on the "computer gremlins" at work.

I had the same problem.  Kept getting message of waiting for activation or check network connections.  I also tried every solution out there and nothing worked.  This did though:  I download the newest version of itunes (through Internet Explorer - Google Chrome wouldn't work).  It pulled in my entire library thank goodness and then I plugged my iphone 4s into the computer.  I let itunes find it, did a complete backup in icloud, then did a restore.  Entire process took a couple of hours, but I now have imessage and facetime back.  I was about ready to give up on Apple and go get a different phone ~

  • IPad battery draining quickly - tried everything, please help!?

Ive noticed recently that my iPad battery is rapidly draining.  I've even noticed a 20% decrease just overnight while locked, which has NEVER happened.  I've googled and research and tried everything possible.  So does anyone have some options I might be missing?
    Using 7.1.2, iPad 2.

Try this first -  Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Iphone3 wont turn on, tried everything

I was snycing my iphone3 today and updating the software when my computer shutdown randomly. Now my iphone wont turn on. Ive tried holding down the home and power button for 10seconds multiple times, but to no avail. I have plugged the phone into my computer but it wont recognize my phone. Ive tried holding home button down then plugging the USB port in, but that didnt work either. Its fully charged, so thats not the problem.
Please help!! What other ideas do you have? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Something on your computer was corrupted when it shut down. Your profile doesn't say what kind of computer or OS, but assuming it's Windows (because this problem would be very unusual on a Mac) you need to completely uninstall iTunes, reboot, and install a clean, just downloaded, copy. See: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925

    Hi Sian.riches,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know it can be both concerning and frustrating if your iPhone will not turn on as expected. I also know your have done some great troubleshooting already. I would suggest reading over the attached article and trying the troubleshooting steps provided to ensure everything has been done.
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • My ipad wont turn on but its heating

my ipad wont turn on after a nigth charge, pressing home and off at the same time wont work, the ipad is a little bit hot.

That doesn't sound good, have you tried holding down both the Home & Sleep/Wake buttons together for approx 10 seconds - realise you've mentioned this but not sure if you've tried it for that amount of time or until the Apple Logo appears?
Failing this if you plug in the charger and cable and connect it to the mains and your iPad does anything appear on the screen?
    Regards,
    Steve

  • HT1414 My ipad wont turn on  and its all charged up

    My ipad wont turn on

    JDBCB-
To turn the iPad completely off, you would hold the Sleep button until the "Slide to power off" arrow appeared, and then slide it off.  Conversely, to turn it back on you would need to hold the Sleep button for several seconds until the Apple logo appeared.  You might think it was not responding if you did not hold the Sleep button long enough.
If that approach does not help, try holding both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow if it appears.  If successful, the iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.
Beyond this, you may need to show your iPad to an Apple Store Genius.  If the Genius can not solve the problem, you will probably get a replacement iPad on the spot.
