IPhone 3G & 3GS

I recently have been assigned to Germany (US Army) and own a iPhone 3G and a 3GS that we brought with us from the states and are locked for AT&T; we are being told by the Apple retailers here that If I can call Apple and explain the situation and that they would send me a "Software program that would permanently unlock them both like the Apple phones that are sold unlocked here in Europe. Can anyone assist us, phones are still new and do not wish get rid of them.

Apple will do no such thing - not unless this is requested by AT&T.
Only the carrier an iPhone was sold as carrier locked with can initiate an official unlock of the iPhone, or send the request to Apple on the owner's behalf.
AT&T does not unlock an iPhone for any reason or under any circumstances.

    The latest 5.5 Carrier Update has been posted on iTunes. With this carrier update it allows your 3G or 3GS to send and receive MMS. To get the new carrier file connect your phone to your computer, start iTunes and tell iTunes to check for updates for you phone. Some things of note:

  • Iphone 4 & 3gs on ios5.01 in a boot loop

    Having both an iphone 4 and 3GS (neither are jail broken) in the same fault being stuck in a boot loop following nothing in common with either phone in relation to an application causing the issue.
    I commenced in removing some application to see if that would make a difference, as the loop cycle was too fast t back the device up but that made no difference.
    I then removed some pictures from both devices and well what do you know they have stopped looping and are back up and running correctly.

    The state of the computer/s memory is irrelevant to this issue even though there is no shortage on either memory or disk capacity.
    How-ever the issue was resolved by removing a number of images/photos and videos from the iphone 4 & 3GS.
    I do hope that this resolution can help others, and that the possible limitation issue of the devices for the storage of images and videos can be looked into as it clearly did cause an issue for the users, and I am a strong believer in finding the cause rather than re-building devices; as that does not give an answer in removing the issue in the future.

    As the two operating systems of the devices are completely different, it is unlikely any of th applications will transfer.
    For the contacts, sync your BB to your desktop, such as Outlook using Desktop Manager, and then sync the iPhone to your Outlook. I guess the iPhone will sync to Outlook, you'll have to get details on that probably in a iPhone forum somewhere. Good luck.

    You can't get any help here. Discussing hacked and jailbroken devices is forbidden by the terms of service.

    Hi all,
    I have googled but could not find any information.
    With regards to built in GPS module in iphone 3G/3GS, i heard some says
    * Only 3G/3GS 16GB & 32GB has the built in GPS module (yes or no)
    I need to confirm, because i am suspecting my 3G 8GB has no built in GPS module.
    Assuming there is, i also could grab any GPS signal, using MotionX lite application to test.
    Any advice is appreciated.

    ALL iPhone 3G and 3GS models sold outside of China have GPS, as shown on the Apple iPhone web site. Only the original iPhone lacks GPS

    Yes you can. Just make sure you have iMesages on. You will need to go into Settings>Messages and turn it on and log in to their Apple IDs. I was having some activation issues when I first got my iPhone 4S [it was the carrier's fault, not the iPhone's] and I was using iMessages with my Apple ID to text my friends who had iPhones. I of course had to be connected to Wi-Fi for it to work. Hope that helps.
    You could also have them download a texting app and they could use that on Wi-Fi. There are many free ones out there. I personally enjoy Text Now. Gives you your own phone number so others can text you too, not just iDevices.

    You are going to need to make a back up with itunes, then you can erase the phone and give it to your mom. Once you get your new 4s then just restore your back up, and your set.

    Hi. My Apple IPhone 3GS Camera takes pictures at 2048x1536 pixels = TOO LARGE..
    Every IPhone picture that I transfer to my computer must be resized on my computer.
    My desired sizes approx after it is 700x525 or approximate near that.
    Most of my EBay or Forums require the smaller pixel or MB sized photos.
    Can I change the resolution my IPhone 3GS shoots at?
    So that all photos can be shot at 640x480 or approximate near that?
    Is resetting the IPhone 3GS camera to a smaller pixel size than 2048x1536?
    If not, is there a permantent setting inside my IPhone 3GS that I can set the
    export pixel output TO ALL EXPORTS to my computers?
    I want to have it set as a command and not have to change pictures individually.

  • Best way to upgrade from original iPhone to 3Gs?

    I've got an original iPhone that's having some problems which may make me get a 3Gs.
    I'm looking for suggestions, tips, advice on things to consider when making the switch. Will the iTunes backup be sufficient to keep all my data, apps, contacts, calendars and everything else?
    Any input is appreciated.

    Couple things I'd add to what's already posted...
    1) Over the several upgrades I've done from 2G to 3G to 3GS for some reason I've found that not upgrading from a back up seems to give me a better end result...obviously the choice is yours...but if you have synced all data like calendars contacts email etc with a MAC or PC that will just be transferred back during your first sync then no harm in starting fresh with a clean copy of the 3.1.2 OS and then adding all data on...
    2) When you upgrade, make sure you're using the very latest versions of iTunes...then make sure that ALL apps are up to date on BOTH iTunes AND iPhone BEFORE you sync for first time...for some reason I've found folks, myself included having issues with authorization and apps not transferring and most times it was due to the entire app library not being up to date on both sides before the upgrade...

    You may try resetting the phone. Hold down the sleep/wake button and home button wait until you see an apple logo then release and after a couple of seconds your iPhone's home screen should comes up

    How can i peace together at least 3 different iphone backups? Due to my incompetent provider i was offerd only a spare 8GB 3G, while my 3GS 16GB was in repair.
