IPhone 3G and house speakers

I was always able to hook up my iPod (1st gen) to my speakers and play music through them. I tried to do that with my iPhone 3g but I'm not sure that's an option.
Anyone know if you can hook up with speakers with the 3G iPhone??

Lindsay, you will need an adapter believe it or not to utilize your house speakers. I bought mine at Best Buy and it works just fine. Hope this helps. Here's a link to an article that will explain it for you.

I just encountered this problem for the first time and stumbled upon this forum to find a solution. I played around with it a bit and it seems that if you slide your finger from the bottom up, you will come upon that new screen that will allow you to do various functions with your phone (put it in airport mode, lock, etc.), you can select your Airport from this screen and play your music wirelessly from your phone; at least this was my experience. Is it possible to have itunes just see the stuff from my phone when I plug it in. I have had to create a new contacts list and I want to store it in itunes because this phone is a back-up phone. My regular iphone is being repaired. When I get back the phone from repairs, I want to be able to sync it so that itunes sees my contacts and not my daughters stuff. Is this possible?

We share 1 computer but we have different user accounts on the computer.

Adding media directly to the media folder does not make it appear in the library. iTunes doesn't really 'look' at that folder except to go to specific files when you call upon them from a library. You have to drag new content to each user's library, that is assuming each user has their own library.

Something's gone horribly wrong between 4 apple devices in my house and I am desperate for some help! I have a MacBook Air, my iPhone and my mums iPhone. And I'm having massive syncing issues! PLEASE HELP!

Ok so long story short I have a mac, a MacBook Pro and two iPhones in the house, one is mine one is my mums.
I only recently bought the MacBook Pro, I turned iCloud on on it and used my iCloud account to sync with my phone and now it has:
A) deleted all my contacts from my phone and MacBook
B) replaced them with the contacts from my mums phone
C) deleted iCal from the main Mac
The problem is none of these are supposed to be linked, mum and I don't share the same apple id or log in details, so I don't know why/how this is happening.
Also I went I onto the main mac to try and see if it was an iCloud issue and there doesn't seem to be iCloud installed on the system at all, it just gives and option for "mobile me" and then asks me to install it/activate it.
Can anyone give me any clues as to why this night be happening? And how I can get my contacts back and keep the two phones and computers completely separate?

Last Resort, put the iPhone in DFU mode (Google How to do that). Connect in iTunes. Follow on-screen prompts to Restore. All Data would be lost, if not backed up earlier.
To save the photographs you may have to use third party software. Google is your friend.

Problem persisted after fixes were done so wife called apple today. Their fix is to turn cellular off when in the house and turn it back on when she leaves- the 4 doesn't keep the password so she has to enter the password too... This wasn't a fix ...it's just resolving the connection problem... They also said that they made ios6 have security features so nobody can hack into the wifi without having the password and it has to be entered to use the wifi. My 5 and the iPads stay on with no problems. It's just the 4. So far so good...she's had wifi all day when home. It's inconvenient but it's either completely reboot it with iTunes (which doesn't work for her) or buy a new phone and she won't do that either.
So...Apple is saying that she didn't have to do the updates either and could've stayed with the previous iOS but !!!too late now!!! We've updated because we think our phones will run better but the ios6 just made it a pita for users

Not having the problem, don't personally know anyone who is.

So i got my iphone 6 and works fine with the bluetooth on my lexus until i plug in the charger. When i do so the music you can't hear the music. When i have it unplugged the music plays fine through the speakers.

Hi user 1724, before icloud, we had the same issue....
so yes, the solution was to each log into the mac separately.
i kept the main itunes library and apple id, and my son made his own itunes library (which linked to the main itunes/apple id) - so we were able to maintain separate contacts lists.
but then w/ the cloud i guess we assumed the cloud would know we each have different contact lists on diff. phones, but it seems the cloud just lumped it all together -

change iPhone name in your iTunes. click device on the left tab, and hold enter to change iPhone name

No sound through stereo headset
Inspect the headset jack for debris and clean if necessary.
Connect the headset and make sure the connector is pushed in all the way.
Check the volume setting. Adjust the volume by pressing the volume up and down button on the left side of the iPhone.
If you are trying to listen to music and cannot hear any audio, make sure that the music on iPhone is not paused. Try squeezing the headset microphone to resume playback. Additionally, from the Home screen you can choose iPod > Now Playing, then tap Play.
Make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed on the computer that you are syncing the iPhone with (songs purchased from the iTunes Store using earlier versions of iTunes won't play).
Try another Apple headset (some third-party headsets require an adapter to be used with original iPhone).
Try a different song or video.
Check to see if the iPhone alert sounds or other iPhone sound effects exhibit the same audio issues.
Disconnect the headset from the iPhone and see if sound comes from the built-in speaker.

You go from room to room and look for it if it is turned off. Without power, you cannot use find my phone to send a sound to it.
