IPhone 3G and SMS Notifications

Hi,
I just updated my iPhone 3G to the 3.0 firmware. I went into Settings > General > Messages and disabled auto-preview but kept "Repeat Alert" on YES. If I receive a text message while I'm away and my phone is on sleep mode, when I hit the power button to slide to unlock I see the message "First Name, Last Name - Text" and then when I slide my finger across to unlock it my iPhone immediately opens the message instead of just going to the home screen with a red balloon showing 1 new text message. Can someone please help me with this?
I don't want my phone automatically opening my messages when I slide my finger across to unlock it. I currently have no other custom applications on it. When I was on 2.2.1, I did not have this problem so I'm not sure if there's a setting I need to switch on or off.
When I'm on a call or using Safari and I receive a message, it says "Close" or "Respond". When I hit "Close" then when I navigation to the home screen then it shows 1 new message waiting, which is what I'd like it to also show even when my phone's in sleep mode. Any ideas?

lets say we are on the phone talking and my mom sends me a text message. my phone vib and tells me i have a new message but it makes a noise like a cd is skipping in my ear. is this common and happening to anyone else?

Email and SMS notifications stop working occassion...

I recently updated the firmware on my E71 to the latest. I now have an issue where the email and SMS notifications on the home page periodically disappear. Once the notification icons have disappeared, I need to restart my device in order to get the icons back again. This never happened with the old firmware.
Is this happening to anyone else? Thank you.

Sounds like an software issue..
Perhaps you may wanna try reinstall the firmware on your phone or do the following:
- A soft reset by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a hard reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345

Email and sms notifications

One feature I would like to see on the iPhone is the ability to control its behavior based on external factors.
For example,
- At night I want my phone to shut up. No email or sms notifications, and to only ring if call is from someone I care about.
- When I have wifi I want it to check for emails frequently, but when I am using 3G I want to check manually (my SP charges for email traffic)
As a result, I am forced to choose the least common denominator - always check email manually, and never notify on new email or sms.
As far as I can tell, there is no way to do this automatically (sure, I can go into settings each time, but what a pita).

Multiple Mail and SMS Notifications Even After Reading

Is it normal to get repeat notifications of Email messages and SMS messages?
The "repeat alert" setting under Settings>Messages is set to off, but I nevertheless receive two distinch audible or vibratory alerts (per message) whenever I get an email or SMS.
The second message occurs *even after I read the email or sms*.

switche of stamnia did not help, but i think i found the troublemaker:
i disabeld every app to get the notifications (security->notifications) and then it worked everytime - then i activated all the apps that i need (there where two left overs - apps that i allowed to fetch notifications that i don´t use anymore....) and it still works.
the two apps are:
-floating notifications
-Garmin connect
i don´t like to test the both if one is the bad boy and the other one not...but now it seems to work!

Can the Curve output the ringtones and SMS notifications to headphones or to an externally connected speaker?

Ok, here's the deal. I'm a network engineer, and my company uses a monitoring system which sends SMS text messages to pre-defined corporate cellphone numbers when something requires an engineer's attention. My problem is that I'm a VERY deep sleeper (laugh if you must; I need three separate alarms to wake up in the morning), and my current phone's speaker (a Curve 8310) is simply not loud enough to wake me up. Nor is any other phone, I would imagine. Not unless it has a 30-minute ringtone.
So my question is, can the Curve, when connected to an external speaker or a pair of headphones via 3.5mm audio cable, output its ringer or its SMS notification tones through the audio jack to the speaker/headphones in addition to (or instead of) the phone's built-in speaker?

eh, you never know... I've had people thank me PROFUSELY, before, for giving them those loud tones, but of course they tried them first
Your Alarm tone can be as long as you want... Mine repeats until I touch the screen, then I have a one minute snooze. I use a loud tone also, because most would never awaken me.

ISE and SMS notification

As already stated in other posts in this forum, it appears there is a kind of limitation when configuring SMS Notification options via the ISE GUI interface under the "Administration ==> Web Portal Management ==> Settings ==> Sponsor ==> Language template ==> English ==> Configuring SMS Text message Notification" panel :
the Destination field, in this panel, can only contain explicitely the email address of the SMS Gateway;
it cannot contain an email address with the %mobilenumber% variable, such as %mobilenumber%@domain.com ;
this variable is never replaced by ISE;
I read the ISE User's Guide about that part which explains the Gateway can be an Email/SMS third party service Provider such as clickatell.com ;
but, it would have been more than nice if CISCO could take into account other kind of SMS gateways, especially those based on "off the rack" hard/soft appliances owned by the customer and whose most common way of working is by sending them an email with destination field based on the previously referred format : %mobilenumber%@domain.com ;
Is this a feature that could appear soon in futures ISE releases ?

Hello, I'm trying with version 1.3.
In "SMTP API destination address:" field I have configured : [email protected]
In body field, I put for example "movil:$mobilenumber$"
Then, when testing, ISE don't put the phone number in "To:" field, but it's ok in the "body" field.
¿I'm doing something wrong or that functionality is not supported ?

Silent email and sms notifications after upgrade to iOs 5.1

After upgrade to iOs 5.1 my iPhone 4S makes no sound when arrives an email or a sms. Is it a bug??

IPhone 5 and SMS and Pictures

My iPhone 5 while on AT&T will not deliver sms messages with photos that are included in SMS messages. It doesn't matter if I take the photo with the camera icon or atach it from the camera roll. The iPhone 5 will also not send an SMS to more than 1 recipient. Any advice?

I do not know about ATT, but in Europe with most providers you have to activate the so-called MMS feature with your provider to send/receive SMS with pictures.

I seem to be having the same problem on my brand new iPhone 4S. Everything was working fine on the phone until I updated to iOS 5.1.1, but now I no longer receive push notifications for the native Mail app, Instagram, or the Facebook app. I still seem to be receiving SMS texts and iMessages via push, but the aforementioned apps need to be opened before I can receive missed notifications (having them open in the background seems to make no difference).

did you try notifications under settings? You can customize it as per your requirement, for each application.

Can I stop SMS notification when the iPhone is being used as a phone?

I love my iPhone, but the one thing that is driving me mad is SMS notifications coming through when I'm talking on the phone - a startling loud alert when the phone is pressed hard against my ear makes me jump every time, and actually hurts a bit too! I don't want to have my SMS alerts as silent, I'd just like the phone to realise that shouting 'PING!' in my ear when I'm on the phone is not good for my hearing or nerves!

iPhone Locks with AT&T PrePay SMS Notification.
I wanted to know if anyone else has experience this issue? Most of symptions are follows:
1.) I get the SMS notification all time whether I use the phone or not.
2.) Once I get the SMS notification, I have to constantly keep tapping on the screen until the phone decides to let me login. Note: Sometimes I have to hit the power buttom and re-tap the screen over and over again til it works.
I was just curious if I am only have this issue's or others to?

It will notify you for every lil' thing you do. If your sending a txt msg, it will let you know, after every call, surfing the internet, checking your email. On your email settings, how often do you have it to check your emails? Manually? Every 15 min? Half hour? One Hour? For example, if you have it checking your emails more frequently (ex. 15 min) you will notice more of them as oppose to checking them every Hour.
