IPhone 3G Compatability with iHome devices

After downloading the newest update to the iPhone OS (4.1), my phone no longer charges from my iHome, which I use as an alarm clock. I can still play music from the device but I am not able to charge from this device. Does anyone have any idea if this is a setting that can be changed on the iPhone or if this is just an update error and when I might be able to expect a fix?

there have been several reports about version 4.1 of the software not being compatible with iHome devices. Probably going to have to wait for an update and hope Apple fixes it.

Audio Compatibility with iHome

Hey everyone,
You all have been so helpful in the past, so I'm coming to all you Apple support forum gurus for two very puzzling audio questions:
1) I have an iHome Bluetooth/Alarm Clock (see here: http://www.ihomeaudio.com/products.asp?productid=10460&deptid=1006), which was working fine with my MacBook Pro in terms of Bluetooth until one day I shut the computer while it was still connected to the speakers. Now, the two won't seem to pair (and yes, I'm using the 1234 code)--any ideas on how to get them to pair now? I've tried rebooting the computer and everything.
2) Because of this issue, I bought a very long auxiliary cord so that I can use the line in to the speakers from my headphones port on the MacBook Pro. Problem: it seems like the audio is only playing mono, not stereo, because I'm definitely not getting the full song out of the speakers. I tried tampering with the audio settings on my computer with no luck. Any ideas on this one, either?

iChatAV is compatable with PC AIM users utilzing AIM 5.9 for video chat.
The key is into your set-up. Being at a hotel, MAY hinder you connection activities.
The key is to focus on your set-up first. Are you able to connect to a user that has no known issues? You can find auto-responders and other people to test with here: http://www.ralphjohnsuk.dsl.pipex.com/ContactTesters.html
There is even a PC that is set-up to auto respond with a picture of a Windows XP box when your connected. IF you are able to connect with other users and the auto responders, it's a good chance the issue is with the user on the other end.

If everything is set-up correctly, you should be able to conduct a one way video chat with an PC AIM user with no issues. (I've done it many times)
Since you are in a hotel, you may receive varied results depending on how they have their network set-up. Try connecting to the testers and go from there.

Iphone not charging with iHome or Sony clock radio

OK, a little off topic. My iphone charges fine with a wall outlet or USB port connected to my computer. I bought a Sony clock radio (iphone compatible) and the phone won't charge in the dock. I took it back and got an iHome model (again iphone compatible) and it won't change there either.
Any suggestions?

IPhone only charging with ihome

I recently updated my phone to ios7 and I didn't have any problems until now. I tried to plug my phone into the wall charger that I use every day, but it did nothing. I also tried to connect the USB chord to my computer and charge it that way, but again it did nothing. I tried changing the chord and plugging it into my old iPod. The wall charger charged my old iPod but not my iPhone, so I know it's not the charger itself. I then plugged my phone into my ihome, and it finally charged.
I'm not sure why my phone will not charge with a wall charger...I never had a problem before ios7.
Please help?

Why should I have to buy ANOTHER new ihome that's compatible when mine worked just fine until I installed firmware 2.1, and 2.2 doesn't work either. Please apple fix your f*ng bug with this so it works with the older docks/hardware again. It worked before, there's absolutely no reason it can't work now. Get over your greed, stop the gorilla tactics of "this device wasn't made for your device" and start doing business with the rest of the world on a level playing field by producing quality products at REASONABLE prices.

Iphone 6 compatibility with belkin car charges and cables

Hey
upon reading stories of certain car charges not working with the iphone 6 i want to find out if either of these 2 car charges and cables from belkin will charge my iphone 6.
In theory the 12v 2.4amp charger should charge my phone up faster than the rest however the iphone 6 is not listed in compatible devices, strangely neither is it listed on the 10w 2.1amp version of this product.
Am i missing some sort of trick here? the only thing i can think of is that the iphone 6 has a list of compatible devices or (certified) and will not allow connection with either of these belkin devices.

Belkin probably just hasn't updated the page yet. Give them a call or contact their customer support. Note that the maximum current an iPhone will draw from a USB adapter is 1 amp (5 watts) whether the adapter can supply 1 amp, 2 amps, or 100 amps. So it won't charge any faster than a 1 amp adapter. An iPad can use up to 2.1 amps.

Compatibility with iHome

A few days ago I did the latest softward update, and recently my ipod is telling me that it is incompatible with my iHome. Any suggestions?

I own two iHomes, older models, which I used with a really old iPod (the one with four buttons above the click wheel!). Recently, I bought an iPod Touch, and it works fine with my iHome clock radios. It plugs into the dock connector on top, and I can wake to music from my iPod Touch just fine. Every once in a while, if I plug it in and then hit the "iPod" button, I have to unplug the iPod Touch and then plug it in again, but it always works.
The only drawback with the iHome is that you cannot adjust the volume of the wake up alarm. Whether you wake to the radio or the alarm or the iPod it always comes on pretty loud. I wish I could turn it town a little, as it does not take that much to wake me. But if I turn on the iPod to "sleep" mode I can set the volume wherever I want, do to sleep to music, and it shuts off fine. In the morning, it wakes me to wherever the iPod left off, just at the default louder volume setting.
Hope this helps! I love having an iHome in the bedroom, and another in the kitchen. I use them both all the time.

At home can only rarely get wifi on iPhone 5 but no problem with iPad or laptop. So when update or download apps exceed 2G monthly allowance!

Correct, which is why I said no. The iPhone (and the Nook) only supports a limited set of Bluetooth profiles and File Transfer Protocol is not one of them. So unless you are trying to use you Nook as stereo speakers (don't try, Nook does not support stereo BT, A2DP) nothing else will work.

Their might be an installer that is on a queue waiting for you to hotsync, unfortunately it's not compatible. This is what you are going to do. Locate c:\program files\palm\[hotsync username]\if you will se a install folder or quick install folder just empty it by deleting whatever file inside those folders.

The same happen to me in a iPhone 4, trying to upgrade from ios 6.1.3 to ios 7.0.4.
I have make three backups of my iphone, then I have restore firmware with the new ios, and when I have try to restore my backup, after two minutes I get this error... tested with all the backups happens the same.
I have 3 iphones, and this only happened in one of them... but it's not the first time that I lose data when apple backup software tell me that all my backups are ok... and they aren't... I like a lot of apple products (I have 3 iphones, 1 ipad, apple tv and 4 apple computers), and they work well... but having two backup problems with diferent devices... I begin to think that backup in apple it's not good enough...

UDPATE:
Spoke with Express lane, and issue was escalated. Kudos to the support guys that handled this one (Brian and Yi). Went through everything in detail and took all the crash dumps off the iphones and ipads to send to engineering.
After backing up the contacts, the recommendation was to delete all contacts in iCloud. Doing that caused my iCloud to crash (in the browser), so more crash dumps were sent to apple.
Eventually got all contacts deleted, then did a resync. Looks like IOS devices are coming back to life and syncing again.
Also, Outlook iCloud connector has just been updated to ver 1.0.1 so i installed that on their recommendation.
BOTTOM LINE workaround:
1. Backup contacts
2. Delete contacts in iCloud
3. Delete accounts on IOS devices
4. Recreate accounts on IOS devices.
Hoping a real root cause can be found and real fix implemented. This has caused me to doubt the stability of iCloud, so i will procees with caution.

I have 3rd party software wirelessly injected and used on my iphone with a cryptographic authentication system without my consent (seems to be new technology developed by stanford and apple security is not updated for this technology) obtaining ownership of my iPhone 4s software and controlling it with remote device to jail breaking my phone, adding and removing software, changing settings all from a remotely controled device from different location (I have a Mac address I'd of this device to know for sure). Almost undetectable. When I look at the legal section of my phone it shows a list of all the unauthorized 3rd party software "as is" copyright encrypted on the phone. This is the most basic way to legally steal software of any kind. Because of this legalality 3rd party ownership have total control of certain software correlated with hardware use including visualization technology, etc. most people luckily will never have this happen to them so it's unlikely many readers have not a clue of what I'm saying currently. Either way, without needing to obtain specific warranty of any kind "as is" copyright control makes system restores not a solution because the source code is not directly encrypted on the actual hardware device only a copy right notice must appear on the specific device 3rd party software validation making it extremely difficult for me to take control of the situation. Apple claims their iOS technology prevents this type copyright obstruction from being possible, however, according to my phone a new form of technology was used developed by Tom wu of Stanford university called the STANFORD SRP AUTHENTICATION TECHNOLOGY which uses Some form of cryptographic authentication system and uses quote "secure remote password" which seems to suceed in hacking iOS apple technology apple claims is not possible to jailbreak an unstolen phone or without the owners consent As well as loading the device with 3rd party copyright Notices to make all of this legalized. My phone shows atleast 30 pages worth of legalized 3rd party copyright permissions! Yesterday my apple care provider labeled me a jailbreaker and refused to look at my legal documented proof which completely blew my mind because it voides my apple care contract I spent 100 on. This employee did not take all factors into consideration and made quick assumptions as well as verbally speaking to me as I'm an automatic criminal. I left the store yesterday with no payed insurance help on a problem I had no control over and couldn't prevent, leaving with voided contracts. This is an apple users worst nightmare and I have spent days researching all of this like i am some kind of lawyer only to be able to use my phone the way it should and spent alot of money on. I can legally backup any claim I have just wrote above currently and have a large source of data collected to prove apple is wrong in voiding insurance support on this issue. The problem lies in apple avoiding and not wanting to believe their software can legally be obtained ot "hacked". Yet still labeled a jailbreaker basically.. What should I do????? Been to local apple store 3 times and rebooted my phone as well sprint service restore 4 times and spoke with reps twiice on the phone. Spoke with my phone provider who said apple has full control over these matters so they can't help me. My case is according to apple "still open"...Anyone else heard of this or of Stanford's office of technology licensing? Yes, Tom Wu of Stanford wrote a paper on something called Secure Remote Access Protocol. It's a form of Asymetric Key Exchange and has nothing to do with hacking anything. It's actually intended to protect data.
