Iphone 3G in a reboot cycle...

Hello,
Well one day i thought i would update my iphone, because some of the apps i wanted required this update. So i go ahead and update also restoring it to factory setting and deleting my apps. Later on that day i'm over my girlfriends and it's all good, sleep, wake up and my iphone was off...so i thought okay, it run out of battery. Come home put it on charge and it wouldn't charge, the apple logo appeared and the springboard flashed for a second then the little circle loading thing happens and turns straight off again, now when ever i try to turn it on the apple logo appears and the springboard comes up for a second then turns off...
I have restored the iphone 3 times and nothing has worked..(Yes, i held the home and sleep button for awhile) it just told me to connect to itunes, which i did and restored but it's still doing the same
My iphone doesn't have insurance, but i'm wondering if they would replace it? Or if anyone knows what the problem is?
Thanks

Depending on which firmware version was being updated, installing a firmware update should not have required restoring the iPhone with iTunes unless there was something wrong with your iPhone behind the scenes and it sounds like there was.
The iPhone includes a one year warranty. If you are in the U.S., you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby. If your iPhone remains under warranty and it is determined that your iPhone has a hardware problem and nothing has been done that would void the warranty, your iPhone will be exchanged under warranty.
If your iPhone does not remain under warranty and there is a hardware problem, your iPhone will not be replaced at no charge.

  • What do I do if my iPhone is in a reboot cycle and won't connect to any computer in DFU mode?

My iPhone won't turn on and it also won't connect to iTunes in recovery/DFU mode... It is jailbroken and I don't know what to do!

If it's jailbroken you cannot expect help in an Apple hosted forum. Google is your friend.

  • Reboot cycle only when disconencted from base

    Hi.
    I have an iphone 1.1.4
The screen froze while playing music and would not reboot. I did the home + power reset and it sent it into an endless reboot cycle. I attempted to restore via itunes and it gave me error 2003. After 4 or 5 tries i got it to restore, now when i remove it from the cradle a black line appears 1/2 inch from the bottom of the screen, and the phone slowly fades to white and resumes the reboot cycle. Once i plug it back into the cradle it works fine, as long as i keep it plugged in. Any suggestions? I have previously dropped the phone and it is now dented so i dont think apple warranty applies.
this phone has NOT BEEN JAILBREAKED or bricked or whatever.
EDIT: i tried unplugging the usb cable from the pc while keeping the phone in its cradle, and it still turns off. any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Based on your description of the issue and the troubleshooting you have already attempted, it does sound like your iPhone may need service. You may find the following page helpful:

  • IPhone lock-up, crash & rebooting issues?

Hi, All – I have the original iPhone with 2.0 software. Since the initial install and even after doing a restore on it, the phone has been crashing and rebooting intermittently. I am using AT&T service, and I have never attempted to unlock the phone or run arbitrary code on it, so these issues are baffling to me. Below is a brief list of what I’ve encountered. Again, the iPhone is crashing and rebooting, not the apps:
Press the “Home” button = intermittent crash, then reboot (might happen back to back, or as infrequently as 6 hours – no rhyme or reason)
Press the “Power” button = (same result as above)
Phone locked up when receiving a call, lit up & identified the caller, no ring or vibration then it rebooted. This has happened twice.
Phone locked up when receiving a text message. Noticed it as I heard an odd tone from my phone for a split second, then it crashed and rebooted and showed a text message on the home screen when it finished rebooting.
Also, I have had other problems where the phone didn’t crash or reboot – it just didn’t perform properly:
When receiving a call – display does not light; phone does not ring or buzz. Voicemail received from caller though call not noted in received calls list. Also, I have had a greater number of “Call Failed” problems, even with full cell signal in Denver, CO. This may be AT&T’s fault, but it seems fine after I shut down and restart the phone.
In general, my iPhone with 2.0 software seems a bit more laggy. Screen rotation from portrait to landscape isn’t as smooth and opening the SMS app seems to have a consistent 2-second delay regardless of if I have cleared out my text message logs or not.
Also, when I reboot the phone, more often than not it starts off at the “slide to unlock” screen instead of the home screen.
Regarding location services – My gripe is that it can’t be told to either:
    Stay on all the time
    Shut off all the time
Activate when needed, then shut off – just like in 1.1.4.
Now when I use an application that I allow to use location services, I have to manually go and shut location services off again or my battery life will suffer.
I have now removed all of the new applications from the phone, and am still experiencing crash/reboot problems. My guess is my phone is damaged somehow or the software I downloaded was somehow flawed during downloading or installation.
Does anyone have any ideas? I really like this phone, but I can't bring myself to buy the new 3G if I can't be certain I wouldn't have the same problems
    Thank you,
    Lynn

I have experienced this problem as well and it is intermittent to say the least. I have two other friends that have an i-phone as well, and when the phone crashed it stored a picture of the screen in the photo library of the phone. I thought that was a little odd as well. I have another friend that has not updated to 2.0 yet and does not seem to be having any problems at all. I would venture to guess that there is a problem with the update and that an update will be out sometime to correct the problem. If anyone knows of a way to correct the problem please post a fix for us.

  • Help! After interrupting an installation of a program downloaded from the internet on my mac in a reboot cycle will not start, I've already done the disk check and it's ok and I reinstalled the OS 10.8 Lion

After interrupting an installation of a program downloaded from the internet on my mac in a reboot cycle will not start, I've already done the disk check and it's ok and I reinstalled the OS 10.8 Lion

In this case, I think that there's something damaged that can't be fixed just reinstalling OS X.
If you don't want to lose files, you will have to create a second partition in the hard drive and install OS X there, so you will be able to recover everything you need. Then, you will have to erase the first partition and reinstall OS X. Follow these steps:
    1. Hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting to start into OS X Recovery, and open Disk Utility.
    2. You can follow the steps of this site to create a second partition > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU3.html
    3. After creating the second partition, close Disk Utility and install OS X on the second partition.
    4. When the installation finishes, open Finder and, in the sidebar, you will see the other partition. Open it and recover the files you need.
    5. After doing that, repeat the step 1.
    6. Select “Macintosh HD” in the sidebar, go to Erase tab and erase the disk.
    7. Close Disk Utility and install OS X on the first partition.
After doing all of these steps (you will need a lot of time to do this), you can delete the second partition you created and add the size of this partition into the first one > http://pondini.org/OSX/DU4.html

  • IPhone 5 won't reboot past Apple logo. It will not show up in iTunes to perform a restore.

iPhone 5 won't reboot past Apple logo. It will not show up in iTunes to perform a restore. After the logo appears the phone will get switched of by its own. I updated my phone 2 days before.

The iPhone can only be serviced in the country where it has been bought, and it can't be shipped internationally to Apple Support, you'll or somebody else have to bring it personally. If you registered the phone with your Apple ID, you might not need the receipt, Apple Support should have your data.
Did you try to set it back to factory settings without using any backup afterwards?

  • Upgrading from 10.4.11 to SL - reboot cycle

    Hello ... I need some help ...
I currently have an iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo) running Tiger, OSX 10.4.11 and am trying to upgrade to Snow Leopard and am stuck in an endless reboot cycle before the install starts. I insert the disk, click on "Install Mac OS X" and I get a window that has one button, which says "reboot" The messsage says "reboot to start install". I reboot, then the disk pops out and when my computer starts again, I put it back in and it starts all over again. HELP!!! Thanks so much.

OK, so I should have put the disclaimer, I need step by step instructions ... I rebooted (from apple menu) and held down the "c" key when the chime hits, but it still pops out the SL install CD and takes me to my usual log in. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

  • Torch Reboot Cycle Problem after Blackberry ID Update

    Hi!
I started my App World to download a few new applications. It went on to ask me to do an ID update, which i did. After installing the Blackberry ID, the phone asked me to restart it, which i did.
But now, it has gone into a reboot cycle and refuses to start. I tried starting the phone in Safe Mode, but when the screen becomes white (just before starting the phone) and i leave the 'Escape' button, BANG! Back into the reboot cycle. It doesnt even boot up in the safe mode. I tried like a zillion times to get it working in safe mode, but to no avail.
Any help please? I need to get the phone up and running as soon as possible! A fast response will make my day!
    Model: Blackberry Torch 9800

    Hi Guys
My iphone 4 factory unlocked reboots suddenly, just today, then i get heat caution alert, and reboot again!!!

  • Macbook constant reboot cycle

I own a 2ghz Macbook with 2gb ram and am running Mac OS X 10.5.2.
I have performed all the latest software updates but now my Macbook is stuck in a cycle of booting, getting to the grey screen with the apple, churning for a few minutes then rebooting. It continues to do this and never reaches the OS.
I've found if I boot from the Leopard DVD, cancel the install and reboot from the menu it boots properly and as long as I sleep it, it will work correctly. But if I reboot or shutdown and start again I get stuck in the constant reboot cycle again.
    Any ideas?

A.E.S.'s suggestion is definitely the first thing to try. If Disk Utility does not resolve your issue and reports no underlying disk errors or is able to repair whatever disk errors it finds, try an Archive and Install. If Disk Utility reports underlying disk errors that it's unable to repair, you'll probably have to do an Erase and Install. Also, be sure to back up all important information before doing the Erase and Install.

  • My iphone 4 crashes or reboots when i open facebook, recently upgraded to ios6

my iphone 4 crashes or reboots everytime i open facebook

You should restore you iPhone from within iTunes. If that does not solve the problem, contact Apple as this is a serious problem. It's an i(PHONE), it needs to be able to make calls. Haha.

  • Centro - Calendar causes reboot, phone causes reboot cycle, contacts gone

I've had issues with my centro getting into a reboot cycle in the past, but it has usually spontaneously resolved itself eventually. This time it's a bit worse:
-turning on the phone causes it to reboot, usually right after it pops up a message asking whether to copy info from the sim card
-starting Calendar causes it to reboot
    -all the contacts are gone
Doing a soft reset (many times) did not help. Any assistance is much appreciated!
    This question was solved.

I was able to resolve the problem by doing the following:
    -hotsynced
-checked that all the data was in fact present in palm desktop
-hard reset device, erasing all data on it
    -hotsynced, with desktop overwrites device
Most likely it was corruption of the databases on the device, though not badly enough to prevent hotsync from getting the data, and erasing and rewriting them onto the device fixed the issue.

  • My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

My iPhone 4 can not reboot after upgrading to iOS 6; keeps trying and cannot shut off either.

I FINALLY got it to work on BOTH iPhone 4 and iPpad 3.  Here is what I had to do:
Had to DELETE all e-mail accounts including icloud.
Did a hard reset (hold down button on top right corner and round button on bottom center)
Then once it came back on, the iPhone had ALL of the accounts still on it and it was receivng e-mail.
The iPad receive e-mail until I did the steps above 5 times.  Plus, I had to add back all of the e-mail accounts vs. on the iPhone 4 they were there when my phone came on.
Now I am receiving e-mail on both devices normally.
No clue why this happened, but Apple needs to find a fix ASAP.
