IPhone 3G on Apple stuck start screen

Hello,
My iPhone (new out of the box today) has frozen on the Apple start screen after I connected it to iTunes. I updated the software and it restarted but got no further than this screen. It will switch off if I hold the home button and iTunes recognises it after it has been connected for a few minutes. I have restored it since and it is still acting the same.
The battery wasn't flat when I connected it and this is the first time I have plugged it into my Mac.
Thanks in advance for your solutions and help, Lauren.

Try a Reset...
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

iphone showing only apple logo on display

    Hello!
Since your iPhone has hanged on you follow these steps
Hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button until it switches off, do not let go,
Keep holding until you see the Connect to iTunes symbol
Now you can let go and plug in your iPhone to your computer and restore from backup!
    Hopefully I resolved your issue

  • Iphone frozen with apple stuck on the screen

Tried reading a text and it kept flicking straight back to the homepage. Then the apple logo appeared and hasn't disappeared for an hour now. Tried pressing the sleep button- nothing. Tried holding the sleep button and home button together - nothing. Tried pressing the home button and whilst held, inserting the USB lead - nothing - didn't pop up on my computer.
    PLEASE HELP!!

If Recovery or DFU mode don't work, there's not much else you can do. take it in to Apple under your 1 year warranty.

  • ITunes not recognizing my iphone 4 and is stuck on connect to itunes screen.. Even apple store cannot fix it.. any help?

I tried Erasing all contents and settings.
And after that it asked to connect to itunes for restoring. BUt iTunes never recognized the iphone and i am stuck on this screen

Ignore sandeep.  Don't use DFU mode.  You need to use recovery mode.

Placing your device into recovery mode
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.

  • My iPhone wont boot up stuck at start up screen (Please Help)

    i have a original 2.5G phone with 8gigs... running 2.0
i was installing Bubble Wrap from the mobile app store and went back to the app store and it was being very glitchy ... nothing was loading and everything had a little delay... so anyway i go to hold the top on/off button for five seconds to get the slide to turn off... so i can reboot it and then the phone crashes and turns off with horizontal lines and starts rebooting... at this point it is stuck at the apple logo and does nothing else...
i already tried holding down the on/off button and the home button together to reboot and it still stays stuck... it reboots but always stays at the apple screen...
i am currently at work and dont have access to my Mac so i cant connect it to it to even do a restore... which *****... anything i can do from here?
    thanks.
UPDATE: I just connected it to the PC here at the office and it acctually was able to read and transfer photos over through the camera wizard so it is reading the info on it but im not sure whats going on... its as if it has booted up but the home screen is not there just the Apple boot up screen.
**** this ***** not having your phone work and not being able to restore it until you get home.

i downloaded the new iphone software (the box popped up on my screen when syncing), so i clicked download. after i downloaded it, i turned my phone off and when i hit back on, all im getting is the silver apple. WHAT IS GOING ON??? its like it just keeps trying to start up because the apple will come on for 10 seconds, then cut off for 3 seconds, then repeat. i held down the sleep/wake button for 30 seconds and cut it off completely. but when i cut it on, it does the same thing! was this software a virus or malfunctioning? this is stressing me out!! does anyone know what to do?? • IPhone stuck on start screen...

I turned my phone off and then turned it back on and it is stuck on the start screen with only the apple logo showing. I tried turning it back off and on again, plugging it in my computer and it did nothing. I feel I might have to use my warranty. I just wanted to know if anybody had any other thoughts.
    Thanks.

Thank you so much for answering back.
I called AT&T after a while and they sent me to their Apple Support number and the operator told me to hold down the Home Button and the Sleep Button at the same time until the screen flashed and then you let go of the buttons and it reboots all by itself. So that problem was solved then I tried to access an app and it would pop up and then crash before it got any further. So I plugged it in my computer and it did its thing and once it told me to unplug it, I did and all my apps were working again, so its all good
If you are still having problems I hope this helps you.
    Thanks again.

  • Iphone 3g Hangs and stucks at activation Screen on update to OS 3.0

    Hello Friends,
My Iphone 3g Hangs and stucks at activation Screen on update to OS 3.0.
I updated the phone to OS 3.0 last night and to my surpsrise after the OS Completely installs and restarts the phone, the phone then hangs and all i can see is a black screen when the phone is connected to PC.
As soon as i disconnect, it shows the Itunes-PC Connect image asking for activation.
Again if a connect back,it hangs and keeps on restarting ..over and over again.
    i tried everything:
    1) Re-Install Itunes 8.2
    2) Re start OS
    3) CHnage USB Cable
    4) Change PC
    5) Keep the phone connected for around 4 hours expecting some miracle to happen still no use.
** If i try to donwgrade back to 2.2.1 then it givess error to and not able to downgrade.
Now i have put myself in a situation wherein i had to switch to other phone.
The phone is just getting rust as there is no Support/Care center in India.
    Please someone help me out.
    Atleast let me know :
Is any hardware part involved in activation of phone?

    Close iTunes and unplug iphone
Search web and download the 2.2.1 ipsw file.
Go to device manager on PC and delete the USB option for Apple under the hardware options.
    Reboot PC
Plug in iphone and wait for dreaded connection picture
hold power button and home button until apple logo appears
continue to hold home button and release power button until connection picture appears again
Your PC should now find the iphone in recovery mode
Now open iTunes and it will prompt you to restore
Hold the shift button on the keyboard and click the restore button at the same time
This will allow you to browse for the correct ipsw file
select the 2.2.1 file that you downloaded
    your iphone will now restore
Once completed, you will need to resync
Now you are back to square one but at least have a phone that works
Now make an appt at the Genius Bar and make them update it for you
Mine is scheduled for next week
