You should have gotten a like-for-like replacement. If the original phone was officially unlocked, the replacement phone should be as well. Call the store or AppleCare to fix.

Yes, if you enable the international roaming feature with your phone company before you travel. However, charges can be expensive, so you need to check with your phone company beforehand.

Does the warranty continue in the refurbished phone?

I bought my iPhone 5 from a local carrier in June 2013, and in June 2014 it had to be repaired. Instead of repairing the phone, I was given a new one which was obviously a refurbished iPhone 5. Since Finland has a two year warranty for all electronics (http://www.apple.com/fi/legal/statutory-warranty/), does the original warranty continue on this phone, or...? If I face problems with this phone, am I allowed to get it repaired free of charge until June 2015?
As far as I know, the carrier only gives 1 year warranty, but after that the responsibility regarding repairs transfers to Apple.

Availability of iPhone in Finland?

I tried to buy an iPhone at my local electronics shop here in Finland friday October 16th. To my amazement they couldn't deliver. I had to put my name on a waiting list. The salesperson told me that I probably will have to wait several months before I get the phone. He said I'll be lucky if I get one before new year. The reason, he said, is that Apple ships about 500 iPhones to Finland each month. This is ridiculous. Apple could outsell Nokia in Nokia's own back yard if they would meet demand.
I realize that Finland is a very small market area (abt 1/3 of Manhattan), but I've understood that Apple has no severe bottlenecks in the production. So why not deliver?
I am a journalist and I need a phone that is compatible with my MacBook. This is the first time during my 20+ years with the Mac that I'm not satisfied.
Can anyoe give a plausible explanation to this discrimination of us Finns?

No, I didn't. The salesperson in the store claimed that Sonera's webstore has even longer waiting lists, because they deliver to their dealers in the first place.
But maybe he just tried to stop med from shopping elswhere. Perhaps I should explore this further…

Hi! I have bought Apple care for iPhone 4 from eBay. I live in Finland and here Apple doesn´t sell Apple Care Protection Plan. I have address in US (Borderlinx) if it could help me. Can anybody halp me??? How could I registeration my Apple Care!!!

The AppleCare extended warranty for any Apple product is provided and honored by Apple and Apple only.
If your iPhone was purchased in your country and Apple does not provide/support the AppleCare extended warranty for the iPhone in your country, you can't register your iPhone for the AppleCare extended warranty based in another country.
If you know a place in Finland that will do this and work around laws and regulations for an extended warranty in a particular country, have the place you know in Finland get your iPhone registered for the AppleCare extended warranty for an iPhone sold in another county, which will be honored by Apple and Apple only in the country for an iPhone that was sold officially by Apple in that country.
You've wasted your money.

You can probably be absolutely sure any other source will be carrier locked
It also appears that only Zain offer unlocking (of all the ME carriers ) in Jordan and Bahrain

This is how I fixed wifi greyed out on iPhone 4S

It happened to me during a trip to Finland, wifi could not be switched on any more after iOS7.1 update, it was greyed out in control panel, I was not able to use hotel wifi, ... that cost me some Euros. Later I found, bluetooth also not working.
But at home, after running a factory reset with iTunes with no success, I finally found the fix with google, my wifi is now working again ! Lets see, how long it lasts. Its 2 weeks now.
Solution, and this is not a joke:
-Place the iPhone on a soft towel or so and keep it switched on.
-Heat it slowly with a hair dryer from the side with the earphone plug.
-After a few minutes, it warns "temperature" and turns itself off.
-Let it cool down. You then can switch it on (wifi still not working).
-Reboot now by holding home and on buttons until the Apple logo comes back. Thats it !
My iPhone 4S straight away connected to my home wifi......and still does for a couple of days now. Also some guys in this forum confirmed that trick to work.
I try to help with this, but you do it at your own risk. On my friends iPhone 4 this did not help.
I suspect, that it has something to do with the control panel. The error occured after switching wifi and flight mode from there. Currently I do only use the settings app for that. Can anybody confirm that ?

You can also try calling Apple per the article posted, or go to another Apple Store, but if you wifi is grey and those steps don't fix it, you will need service (replacement). Sorry, magic wand is out of batteries and pixie dust is depleted.

Iphone 4s activation at selfsolve.apple

I've been browsing internet and apple discussions but failed to find an answer to my specific question.
I bought iPhone 4S 64 ggb from Finland (ordered the delivery, so did not talk to the seller myself). The courier promised that the phone is unlocked.
So yesterday I inserted my Russian sim-card, turned the phone on and went through restoration from archive procedure in iTunes (I used to have iPhone 4S 16 ggb, so made its full copy in iTunes) . Everything went successful: application, contacts, cal. restoration and so on. iTunes identifies my cell phone number, I have a cell coverage, iMessages function fine.
But I am worried about activation. When I check my serial number at https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do, it says "Please activate your iPhone". But I did not have the same warning when I used my 16 ggb iPhone - it was activated successfully.
So I started searching for answers. I found that:
a) iPhones may be locked (when there is no coverage and service, unless you use sim of a specific operator), factory unlocked (i.e. sim free - use any sim in any country) and soft unlocked (some sort of situation when the phone functions ok with any sim and there is cell service, but there are lags with service from time to time and risk to be cut off by cell operator at any time), is that right?
b) activation at selfsolve may take several days to perform, is that so? did I start panicking early?
Guys, I would appreciate if you commented on the questions raised above. Am I right in (a) and (b)?
Or if I have a cell coverage and iTunes synch. then my iPhone is fine and good to use and activation on apple web-site is just a matter of time?

Just to close the topic and let others know of the same issues.
The bugs with the 64 gb phone continued - it turned off occasionally, there were slight delays in reaction to my screen touches, etc. So I called the seller and asked for refund. During the talk the seller confessed that, indeed, this phone was produced as locked, but later it was officially unlocked by the operator, that Apple has such procedure and unlock is official. Well, personally, I doubt it, especially considering that Apple warranty check still asks to activate the phone.
So this 64 gb phone was returned, money refunded. I ordered iPhone 4S 64 gb from another seller. This time iPhone's box was sealed (was not open). Seller promised under potential refund threat that this one was produced unlocked. So I put in SIM as soon as iPhone was handed to me. And I even have not finish the installation procedure but already Apple warranty online check showed that iPhone was activated successfully, I could see guarantee deadlines and so on.
I've been using this new iPhone for 2 days already and I did not have a single bug or lag. It's perfect!
So I believe, that all the bugs are due to wrong activation, locking and that sort of stuff.

ENglish is not my first language so there can be mistakes. So as you have seen from up I have an iPhone 6+ and I can't restore it because of some random email. I haven't ever seen this happening or that email so I really don't know what I'm doing anymore. :/ help me guys? I tried restart iPhone when it was "on the white screen" but it still gives only that random email. I have bought LEAGALLY it, I come from Finland where I bought it.

Should be legit means here that yep it is and if it isn't something is relly wrong . I bought my iPhone 6+ from Apple Authorize Store, Verkkokauppa in Helsinki, and it is really strange that there even can be some random email when you are restoring staff from your iCloud. But as I said it there ain't any problem anymore. Thanks for the help!
