IPhone 3GS/IOS 6.1.6/Yosemite 10.10/iTunes 12.0.1.26 will not update or install apps
I have an iPhone 3GS/IOS 6.1.6/iMac Yosemite 10.10/iTunes 12.0.1.26. I have always synced it with my 27 inch iMac with no problems.
I recently attempted to install the apps "The Economist Expresso" and "Disconnect."
I do NOT have (and have never had installed) the Wall Street Journal app.
I do have a 4 digit passcode set.
I do have Apples 2-factor authentication enabled.
When downloaded by iTunes they show up in an iPhone window and are labeled "will install".
I then click sync.
The sync process begins and they "immediately" disappear from the iPhone windows and revert back to "install" in the list of apps.
They have not installed and no error or any other message of any kind has been displayed.
I suspect that this all began happening when I enabled the two factor authentication -- the iPhone is the primary location to receive the authorization code, and it has worked. It may also have begun happening when I upgraded to Yosemite. I simply noticed that when syncing my iPhone, which I tend to do weekly by USB cable, not WiFi or iCloud; that the amount of free space simply kept growing.
Today, I finally gave in and reset the iPhone, and then restored from a backup.
Now I find that apps which I had been using daily, such as AP Mobile, were not restored, but also play this -- will install, then vanish -- game.
This is clearly something which Apple has done to attempt to force me to purchase a new iPhone 6, but until now I have had no problem with my 3GS for what I use it for. This total lack of error messages will cause me to replace my 3GS with a non-Apple product as there is clearly no reason to stick with Apple.
And yes, for me COST is a very big deal.

The itunes setup on the macpro was completely with the download of all music from a previous external backup and the creation of new playlist - on the first sync with existing phone it did ask to overwrite all phone itunes data with macpro itunes data which i did accept - no different result - no changes on phone.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the problem continues, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -
by juggling the phone whilst washing up, I accidently dropped it in the sink, I had just became unemployed so no more insurance by a day..

Controller 62It's time for a new (replacement) iPhone. Take it to an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service Provider. You may well receive some credit for your old one.

How do I get pages, numbers, keynote, iPhoto and iMovie to update after installing OS X 10.10? I have the original disk.
Cancel the updates. Delete the apps. Redownload them from the Purchases tab in the App Store.

IPhone 4S will not update or download apps...
For the last couple of days I have been unable to download or update apps on my phone. The app just reads "waiting". I figured it had something to do with 3G but it doesn't work with WiFi either. I tried shutting it off as well...nothing. Any one else having this issue?!

IMovie will not update after upgrading to iOS Yosemite
Have upgraded to Yosemite on iMac and Mac book, but iMovie will not update on either devices...it begins the long update and never seems to complete. On the iMac it says "no updates available" but the iMovie icon is crossed out on desktop. Says that version is not compatable. Macbook is showing an update for iMovie, but have tried several times to update and has not worked yet. Any suggestions???
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen. Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then take one of the actions that you're having trouble with. I have a problem synching calendar data between my iPhone 3GS iOS 5.1 & Outlook 2007 on MS7. The basic calendar data transfer is OK but the birthdays (little box icon) are a day early & cannot be changed to the correct date. The birthday entries in my Outlook contacts have correct dates.How can I fix this?
The following peocess corrects the calendar entry:
edit the contact & change the birthday, save the change; edit the contact & change the birthday to the correct value, save the change again. The calendar entry then displays on the correct date. Alternatively as a temp solution I can just de-select the "birthdays" calendar which stops the icon being displayed.

Hi, I am new to this forum so please excuse anything I may say that sounds a bit stupid but I am not very technically minded.
I have got an iPhone 3gs ios version 4.1. The phone was locked to Vodafone and I asked them to unlock it which they did. I connected the phone to iTunes and it said congratulations your phone is now unlocked. My new Tesco sim card was accepted and the phone works fine. I have tried to download some apps but they all seem to need a higher version of the ios. iTunes says there is an update for my phone ios version 6. I need to know if I update my phone to this version will my phone still be unlocked and also will the phone continue to work properley. Hope someone can help.

IPhone 3GS (iOS 5) will not sync, stuck on *backing up* in iTunes 10.6.3.25
I recently updated iTunes to the latest update for Windows, since then, whenever I connect my phone and try to sync it just gets stuck in *backing up* for ages.. if I leave it it will be in backing up for hours. I cannot sync my phone or add any content now. I've been told to try and click the *X* in the progress window at the top of iTunes - but doing this does nothing but freeze iTunes for a few minutes - then it continues to *back up*... frustrating. Can anyone help?

Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if the problem has been resolved.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

When I disconnect my iphone 3gs(iOS) from computer, the device disappears from my itunes. This prevents me from doing a wireless sync. how do i fix it so that my device stays on itunes without having to plug it in all the time?
it worked the first few times i did it but the next day after i closed out of itunes once, the device only appears when i plug in my phone.Whenever a menu choice is grayed out, that is because you have Restrictions turned on in Settings. Be sure to turn it off.
You are confusing an itunes store account with an icloud account. You two can continue using the same ID for itunes (thus sharing purchased music, apps, etc.), but you really should have separate accounts (different IDs) for icloud, since an account is intended for one user to keep his/her devices in sync.
To create a new icloud account, go to
http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/
Then go to Settings>icloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete Account. (have restrictions turned off) That will disconnect the device from the account but will not delete data in icloud or other devices. Then sign in using the new ID. -
i had recently followed orders to restore my iPhone 3gs (iOS 6.1) from a question on apple support. However it was working fine before that, it's just that my phone didn't have signal. So it said to restore my iPhone and now it says that the Activation server is temporarily unavailable and when i plugged it into my mac, it said that i ddn't have a sim card installed. What can I do to fix this besides bring it to the store? it also bugs me because this answer was supposed to work but it just messed my phone up even more. i've iphone 3GS. ios 5.1.1 i've a problems that it turnoff itslef. when i'm trying to turn it on. it just appear apple logo then go to black . keep trying till gives me battary is empty and must charge it. once i plug in it. its open and i found the battary as it 70 % for example( not empty ) if anyone try to call me its appear to me turn off but doesnt give him the mobile is turn off . its rining. please advice
