I have an iMac PC G5, of course, without Intel. Can I still upgrade my iPhone 4 to 4.2? I'm a non-technical person. Thanks in advance.

The simplest answer is that the existing Bluetooth is not suitable for this purpose. With a max speed of 2.1 Mbps (0.5% that of USB), it would be pretty painful to use for this purpose - a backup of a 16GB iPhone would take a whole day. Transfer a movie? It would take an hour.
On top of that, Bluetooth doesn't provide a standard mechanism for the type of data transfer and synching that iPhone needs -- they'd have to write their own propriety one and you'd still have to use proprietary software to do the data transfer / synching.
A better mechanism would be standard Wi-Fi, which would be MUCH faster than Bluetooth and for which the protocols necessary are already in place. It's still comparatively slow to USB (about 10% that of USB), but much faster than Bluetooth. However, it appears that Apple's research has led them to believe that waiting an hour or two for the phone to backup over Wi-Fi using the existing mechanism is still undesirable.
From what they've indicated about iOS5, however, it seems that they will be supporting more over-the-air updating and synching mechanisms, meaning that, for the first time, you can do most everything but backup the phone without iTunes (though document exchange for certain apps is much faster and easier with iTunes, it won't be necessary).

HT4623 "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear on the Whatapps screen repeatedly after my iPhone 4 was upgraded with IOS 7.0.4.

After my iPhone 4 was upgraded to IOS 7.0.4, some of the apps cannot be used instantly as before. For example, the Whatapps does not alert unless I open the apps manually. Then a message "Connect to itunes for push notifications" appear. Even I tried connect to itunes for sync again, this problem still cannot be resolved. The same problem applies to some other apps like Runkeeper. Don't know why.

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

IPhone 6 Plus upgrade with edge. help please!

Hi, im looking to upgrade to the iphone 6 plus. i am currently on 2 year agreement and my first year will be 9/21/14. Should i be able to upgrade using the edge program? and do i have to trade in my smartphone that i got with my 2 year contract or can i keep it?

That is awesome that you are shopping for upgrade options! You are in a great spot where you can chose to do another 2 year agreement. If you chose this option, you can trade-in your device and get a gift card to use towards your purchase. You can also keep your phone if you would like and you would not process a trade in. You can also use our Edge program as well, if you are eligible. You can check your Edge eligibility online via your My Verizon account. You have quite a few options and all you would need to do is select which one works best for you!

Iphone 6 not working with imac

I have tried to download Yosemite so that my imac 2010 (OSX 10.6.8) will sync with my new iphone6 - but the yosemite icon is just sitting on tool bar saying - waiting -for several hours now - Do I need to download an earlier operating system before I can download Yosemite and is this why my imac is not syncing with iphone 6 or is it a different issue? I have also rebooted phone and imac once connected- thank you

In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed and your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model.

New to MAC - trying to sync iphone and Mac Pro with imac

Hi,
Just made the switch to Mac. Purchased my Mac Pro yesterday, loaded .Mac, and plugged in my iPhone to the computer. Followed the steps to Sync iCal and contacts from iPhone and although it is registering there is a phone and downloading photos, it is not syncing anything else.
The steps I took were System Preferences, .mac, and checked the relevant boxes. It indicates syncing is taking place but the calendar on iPhone and Mac Pro are not syncing.
Could anyone help with advice? SHould I be able to sync easily between the iPhone and the Mac Pro with .mac?

You use iTunes to sync an iPhone - not *.Mac Sync* or iSync.
*.Mac Sync* is for syncing between Macs, and iSync is for syncing third-party mobile phones and PDAs.

IOS 8.0.2 iPhone 6 wont sync with iMac

I received a new iPhone 6 yesterday from work and our IT department backed up my old iPhone data and transferred it all to my new phone. When I tried to sync to my home computer iTunes said my computer wasn't authorized to sync apps that were purchased with my phone and then gave me instructions to authorize my computer. I deauthorized it and then reauthorized it but it is still giving me the same message. Can anybody help?

i have iphone 6 and updated to 8.0.2.
It randomly drops my wifi connection at home - rarely connecting for more than 5 mins at a time. I can re-connect but it does not last. Sometimes no networks are listed at all and after a reset I can suddenly see 5-6 networks!
it also randomly connects back to the wifi network.
This is just the 8.0.2 update on the the iPhone 6. My iPad with same update is fine.
really poor QA from Apple. I've emailed Tim Cook regarding software QA but zero acknowledgement let alone a response. It is unreasonable that Apple do not
list on the web site current reported issues and what they are doing and when we can expect a fix.

You state you updated your iMac to OS X 10.8.5. Did you update iTunes as well?
If so, you may find the calendar sync options under Info.

Connect your device to your computer.
Click the device button, then click Info.
Select the items you want to sync.

Problem Syncing iPhone with iMac

Hello,
My iPhone has been working and syncing (with new iMac) just fine - until tonight. I plug in iPhone. It shows up in iTunes. I have Automatic sync checked. But, within less than a minute, I receive this error message:
"iTunes could not sync contacts to the iPhone [name] because the iPhone disconnected"
I also get same error message when I click "Sync" button in lower right of iTunes window. Obviously, I did not disconnect the phone as the error message alleges.
I have rebooted computer. I have recycled iPhone (top right switch off, then on). I have changed iPhone cord plugged in back of iMac screen. I have ejected iPhone, removed plug and reestablished connection.
I need to sync my contacts from iMac Address Book. Can someone please identify the problem and solution?

Note: The iPhone was updated several days ago to 1.1.3. Syncs have taken place successfully SINCE the upgrade prior to tonight.

With your iPhone connected and available with iTunes, under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences under replace information on this phone, select Contacts and then sync. This will replace all contact information on your iPhone with what is available in the Address Book application.

After upgrading to Imac updating Iphone and Ipad I can no longer sync in Itunes

I have newly upgraded to IMac and love it! I also traded in my IPad to IPad Air and updated my IPhone from 4S to 5C. When I was using a Windows PC I had all my gadgets synced to ITunes (this includes a MacBook Pro and two IPods, Yes I'm hooked). Now I can no longer sync any of my gadgets to ITunes on the new IMac.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. You will be able to get your mail on the PowerBook. The calendars (iCal) will not sync; any events added to iPad and/or iPhone will not sync with the Mac but will sync with each other (that is: the mobile devices which are on iCloud). My MacBook Pro (Lion) and iPad2 (iOS5) sync fine; I still get my Mail on iBook G4, MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and iMac (Snow Leopard).

Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.
