IPhone 4s 3rd Party Apps not working

On Wednesday I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS5 and all my 3rd party apps worked fine. Then on Friday when my iPhone 4S arrived I transferred everything over. The phone works great and all the core apps work fine, but none of the 3rd party apps work at all. They "blink" if I click on them but none of them will launch - even ones that have just been updated. I have a couple of key apps with years worth of data that I really can't afford to lose.  I have done a hard reset. I have restored the software and restored from backup and still the problem is the same.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening and more importantly how I can resolve it?
Thanks.

This is what I found out from another post and it immediately solved my problem:
The reason this happens is because every time a downloaded app is opened it checks for your itunes password for validation that you are authorized to open that app (as it may contain personal info). From time to time the iphone “forgets” your itunes password. You can fix the missing password by syncing the iphone with itunes or downloading an app from the app store and entering your password that way.

  • Loss of Music and Video and 3rd party apps not working on 3G

I've had to restore my 3G iphone about 10x now. The phone keeps "losing" my music and video, and then the 3rd party apps don't work. A reset does not help, I have to restore my phone and set it up as a new phone each time. I went to the Genius Bar, they gave me a new phone, but said it was likely a software issue. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a way to fix it? I waste like 2 hours re-syncing my phone every time this happens. I'm so disappointed with this iPhone 3G...I wish I hadn't sold my original iPhone and could switch back to that. Please, any help that anyone can offer would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you for replying. Did try this again, and then another recovery (holding down 2 buttons 'til Apple icon) but no luck.

  • 3rd Party Apps not working after 3.1 update

As the topic says, none of my third party apps are working at the moment. I tried doing a full restore and backup and that doesn't seem to do anything. I've also noticed that most of my music is not syncing, even though podcasts and movies are. I'm really trying to restore everything to the way it was because I have some valuable data on my third party apps that I really can't afford to lose.
    Any ideas?

    Same problem.
iPhone 3gs 32MB and MacBook Pro w/ iTunes 9.0: Updated iPhone to 3.1 software today and all apps fail at launch except the native ones. Thinking it was an authorization problem, I tried to purchase an app on the phone. It downloads but also won't launch. I then bought it through iTunes 9.0 and synced, but that fails as well. Did a full restore, and one hour of sync time later no change.
If this is happening to me it must be pretty common. I'm using all standard equipment that is under a year old. No jailbreak or other funky stuff. Anyone else with this problem please post. Not sure what else to do. Genius bar appts are booked up today, so booking for tomorrow night.

  • 3rd party apps not working on new iPad 4G, 32GB.

Having read many threads on this, I have re-stored (existing backup and new), re-set, re-synced. I have downloaded new apps, deleted old ones and redownloaded, have tried to drag and drop apps from Library to Devices. Have reset my Apple ID on computer and pad, and currently have only one ID and then restored as new. Apple apps work fine. But not one 3rd party app opens. A short black flash on the screen and nothing. All the supposedly active apps' icons show in the "active dock". What am I missing?

Thank you for replying. Did try this again, and then another recovery (holding down 2 buttons 'til Apple icon) but no luck.

  • 3rd Party Apps Not Working . . .

Woke up this morning, turned on my iphone and was greeted by a screen informing me that my phone was good only for emergency calls and that I should connect to computer and iTunes.
    So, I did.
This restored the phone to active status, but during the sync some weird things happened:
I was told to an update to carrier settings was available, I clicked accept to download and received an error code saying the update failed (error code -4)
The computer reported and error trying to sync my apps (error code -4)
The sync then finished and said I could disconnect. After doing so none of my third party apps worked. They start to load and then immediately crash. Not one of them works.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I actually used the iPhones erase all data and media function to clear the phone and start from scratch (all my stuff was backed up),
I then tried to sync, everything loaded fine except the apps. I now have no third party apps on my phone at all on my phone. They will not load from the computer to the phone. They do show up in the computer though.
The update carrier settings still bombs out (error -4) and the restore from iTunes will not work (same check for current version of iTunes message shows).

  • 3rd Party Apps stop working each day?

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I got my new 3G phone on Sunday and loaded a bunch of 3rd party apps. Monday morning, none of them worked--I click to start, and looks like it will start (the screen changes to the initial app screen), then it abruptly closes. Doesn't happen for the pre-installed apps. So I deleted and reinstalled 2 apps and they worked, soon after, I noticed all of them were working again. Yesterday and today, same thing--none of the 3rd party apps is working.
Anyone else with a similar story? Anyone know how to resolve it?
    Thanks in advance!
    Scott

Thanks for the info--though I have heard conflicting info that pressing home on the 3G actually does terminate an app completely. Unfortunately, it does not resolve the issue with the 3rd party apps not working. I've tried soft reboots, hard reboots, switching from wifi to 3G, and even did a full restore, but no change. The only current way I can get them to work again is to uninstall one and reinstall it. For some reason, this also fixes the rest of them. Pretty sure this is an actual OS bug. You don't even need to reboot after reinstalling an app--it works, then the rest of them do. I guess I will just have to live with it until Apple comes out with an update. I have never had an Apple device before...is there a way for a user to enter a ticket so that they know about this issue?

  • Iphone 6 plus podcadt app not working

TThe ios8 podcast app isn't working on my iPhone 6plus. It crashes continually and hangs on even one download.
DO I NEED to find a 3rd party app to work?

    Nore wrote:
I have always used the iPhone's LED flashing alert to notify me when I get a call or text message. While I was on iOS 8 Beta 2-4 it was working fine. I did a clean install of the complete iOS 8 release and ever since then, the flash alert doesn't work.
Sometimes it will work on incoming calls, but will not work on text messages. I've tried soft/hard rebooting, clean wipe and fresh installs, and pretty much anything in between. Now, today I got my 128GB Gold ATT iPhone 6 Plus, and it's the same thing. Updated to iOS 8.1, reset everything/deleted all contents and settings. Both fresh install, and iCloud backups and still no alerts on text messages, but now I get them on calls. I tried my girls ATT 128GB iPhone 6 and she has the same problem too. My old phone was a 64GB iPhone 5S and hers was a 32GB iPhone 5. Everything was good until the official release of iOS 8.
I've tried searching for related issues, and haven't found anything since 2011 with a quick Google search. Most links just tell you how to turn the flash alert on but no new issues. All of my devices are on iOS 8.1.  I gave my father my 64GB 5S with a clean install and he still has the issue as well. So, that makes my iPhone 6 Plus, my girls iPhone 6 and my fathers iPhone 5S not flashing LED on messages and sometimes calls. There aren't any custom vibrations enabled on any if the devices. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is it a known bug or am I just not doing something right here? i never had an issue before the iOS 8 release. Any help would be appreciated.

  • 3rd party apps stopped working on 3gs

This is similar in nature to other threads but the difference appears to be that I started from a 3gs phone with 3.0 installed. After changing the home page the screen stopped responding to touch input. I resetted the phone and all 3rd party apps. cease to function. When I click on the appropriate icon, the app. begins to load for about a second and then returns to the icons menu. Pre-installed (apple) programs all appear to function normally. I tried restoring from backup but this did not work. I am loathe to try a system restore but it looks like this is the only option available. Any other suggestions?

Hi - hoping my experience helps someone in this situation. I had the same problem as reported: all 3rd-party apps suddenly stopped working. Rebooting the iPhone did not help.
Here's a sequence that ended (so far) with mixed results.
    1) Tried the above suggestion of downloading a free app.
    2) Launched an app and then another to test, all seemed well.
    3) Manually clicked the iTunes Sync button.
    4) Tried launching another app - that one failed - but the two that worked above still worked.
    5) Deleted the newly downloaded app and then redownloaded it.
    6) Launched every 3rd-party app - all worked fine.
    7) Manually re-synced again.
    8) Launched various apps - most work, a couple don't.
Will continue to work on this, but the problem seems to be related to syncing. Downloading an app appears to help. The results may vary depending on the app that's not working.
So... try downloading a free app and launch the non-working apps before resyncing to see what happens. Syncing may break them again, but at least you might be able to get the apps back for a while without resorting to a factory reset. If you don't need to resync, you might turn off automatic syncing or use the non-USB power cord to recharge and avoid the problem.
Perhaps corruption is happening somewhere, either on the iPhone or in iTunes, when syncing. It's frustrating.

  • MacBook Pro 3rd Party App not loading just 'flashes' 10.8.5

    Hi
Could really use some help here, been using this forum for around 6 years and have managed to solve all my Mac problems through it which has been great, but I have an issue I really can't figure out.
Replaced my HD with an SSD using Carbon Copy Cloner and everything has worked perfectly apart from one really annoying problem.
If I unzip a 3rd party App (not .dmg these work ok) for a piece of music software (as that is all I use this Mac for) it just 'flashes' for a second and stops - where as normally it will ask for Password to make changes and install it.
If I use Console to inspect the error I get this…
com.apple.launched.peruser.501:([0x0-044044].com.native-instruments.kExecutableN ame[318]) Job failed to exec(3) for weird reason: 13
Dock: no information back from LS about running process
This is what I have tried.
    1. Security and Privacy Settings are set to allow non Apple Apps.
    2. I have repaired Permissions in Disc Utility and from Terminal in Recovery HD via resetpassword command.
    3. I have opened the app for the Get Info part and I have Read/Write permission on it.
    4. I booted in Safe Mode, still the same.
    5. I created a new Admin user on my Mac and tried to open the same App after unzipping and it immediately asks for the prompt to enter password to make changes. (so the download/unzip process is ok).
So, I guess it really must have something to do with my permissions somehow (or not!). As this is the only thing that does not work I feel I have narrowed it down but just can't fix it.
Any help/advice will be much appreciated.

    Ok
I have fixed this. May be of help to others at some point.
I have been using Zipeg for .zip folders for about 4 years and never had an issue, I saw on a non related post about .zip files and how they can become corrupted during de-compression.
Anyway, I deleted zipeg and re-installed it, still the same, after that I read a post about OSX built in Archive Utility, it wasn't in my Utility folder so another post gave the path. I had no idea it even existed.
System / Library / Core Services - Archive Utility.
Using this all is working perfectly again.

I can confirm that Folder View plugin no longer works. the developer discusses it here

Any reply would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

I think it'll be better to restore your system using time machine to an earlier state...but i too am clueless to what exactly is the problem...try listing down the changes you made just before the problem started and if possible post them up here so that a more informed suggestion can be given

  • 3rd party plugins not working after archive and install

    hi,
i have a few 3rd party plugins in my logic pro, such as all the native instruments, waves diamond, ik multimedia plugins, atmosphere and a few more,
i was getting an error on my g5 when i tried to run diskwarrior from the disk. it was the kernal panic message, it said i had to restart my mac, therefore i couldnt run diskwarrior from disk.
i did a bit of research and a few people suggested doing a archive install, so i did.
well what do you know, i had to re-install logic 8 again. other programmes such as transcribe, itunes idvd imovie etc were ok.
but logic didnt load up, o i had to re-install logic again,
also before i did that i checked to see if my 3rd party plugin were working in standalone, so i check all the native instruments and they seemed to work ok, T-racks deluxe works fine, so i thought they should all load up in logic.
once logic was installed again and had to get all the updates all my 3rd party plugins did not show up on my AU validation.
is there a way to get logic to see my 3rd party plugins or do i have to re-install all of them again.
    cheers for the help
    lib

Then check if the NI AU components are actually where they should be:
    HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
If not copy them over from your "previous systems" folder which was created on your HD during the archive and install process.

  • 3rd party applications not working, just bounce

First timer here - thanks for all the help in advance!
My gf's computer all of a sudden won't start any 3rd party apps like Photo Shop or Word. She's 2,500 miles away right now, so I don't have the ability to look myself, but I have no ideas. She clicks on them and they just bounce.
Please help me get a get out of jail card for future use!

Hi Red and Welcome to Apple Discussions ...
Sometimes when apps won't open, it's because the hard disk is full. Here's how to check to see how much free space is available.
Launch Disk Utility from the Applications/Utilities folder. Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left. Now, tell her to look at the bottom of that page where it says: Capacity and Available. Rule of thumb... never allow free disk space to fall below 15 - 20%. It takes a minimum of 15% free disk space just to boot a Mac.
If that isn't the issue, because she can't open PS or Word, it might be a corrupted font that she has used in both those applications. Tell her to try this. She needs to find this file:
com.apple.FontBook.plist It's here: /Users/HerName/Library/Preferences. Open the Preferences folder, locate that file and drag it to the trash, empty the trash and reboot. It's ok to trash a pref file as any Mac will create a new one for her.

  • Third party apps not working

so looks like my friends that have updated to 3.1.3 are having issues with launching their third party apps is there a way to fix this, i also have one but waiting on to see if apple can clarify if there is a problem before i update mine.

The issue is actually not related to the 3.1.3 update.
The issue occurs because the iPod or iPhone is unable to properly authenticate that you are the proper owner of the application. The apps are launched, the device checks who purchased the app, then checks if it has been authorized to continue. At some point in the process a mismatch occurs and the app quits. The easiest way of determining if this is your specific issue is to launch a native app (Phone, iCal, Contacts, etc) and verify that it launches, then launch a downloaded app (Skype, AIM, Facebook, etc) and verify that it quits shortly after launching.
Two possible ways of resolving the issue:
    1) Trying to keep most application data, sync iPod/iPhone, deauthorize computer and sync again, reauthorize computer, and sync again. You may lose music on the iPod/iPhone until the final sync. Make sure it's all on your computer beforehand.
    If that doesn't work,
    2) Deauthorize computer, restore iPod/iPhone, authorize computer, set iPhone up as new device, then sync. This is the cleanest (and in my opinion the best) method but will also not preserve all application data (WIFI passwords, voicemail password, certain saved data within applications, SMS, etc).
To deauthorize and reauthorize your computer account, load iTunes and select the "Store" menu item.
    Hope this helps,
    Brian

  • 3rd party keyboard not working on 5s

    Hello,
I am facing problems with 3rd party keyboard on iPhone 5s ios8. I have tried Swype, Swiftkey, Brightkey and TouchPal and I have the same problem with all. Once I add the 3rd party keyboard in settings and open any app and select the keyboard just disappears until I remove from the list of keyboards in settings.
Swype on my iPad Air works just fine with iOS 8.
Is anyone facing the same problem, appreciate if you can help

Go to Settings - General - Accessibility.
Towards the bottom you'll see a setting for Guided Access. Set this to Off. Your third-party keyboards should now work as expected.
