Iphone 4s battery draining too fast

I just received my iphone 4s and I have upgraded from my 3s, after holding on for so long I am so disappointed with the battery life. after 2 phone calls the battery drains 15 %, I have turned off all the features to make sure it lasts me at least till I can charge it again. any solutions out there, off course apple says there is no problem, just like we have no problems with the economy.

Quick fix for you!!!!!!
Go to settings//Location Services//System Services//turn "Setting time Zone" and "Diagnostic & Usage" OFF.
These things will drain you to Zero fast. and tell Apple there is an issue with the Setting Time Zone feature.
Its constantly locating your phone second by second when it's suppose only work when you leave one time zone and go to another.

  • IPhone 4S battery draining too fast...Need to charge 3 times a day

Finally after 4 years I was very excited to get an iPhone that has all the features I wanted…but I am disappointed so far.
I purchased an iPhone 4S 32GB on 10/7 and has not been impressed with the battery life. I have to charge my iPhone at least 3 times a day. I go to work at 8 AM and by 11:30 AM the battery is at 20 %, so I charge it again which takes only about 60 to 120 minutes to charge, and by 5:30 PM I have to start charging again…the third charge has start around 11:30 PM and I have to keep the phone plugged overnight otherwise it will be dead by 6 AM.
I have read other posts on the web and people have suggested turning notifications, location services…etc which I went ahead and did but that did not change the battery issue. What is the purpose of having the iPhone 4S if all the features have to be turned off.
I always try to kill apps that running in background but still no fix to battery issue.
on 10/19/11 I went to Apple store and exchanged the phone with new one. The apple rep activated the phone for me and the charge was at 78 %. I left the store and 10 minutes later I was at my house, but again I was surprised to see the battery has drooped to 65 % within 10 minutes. While I was driving home I did not touch the phone or make/receive calls.
When I got home I plugged the phone and when it was charge at 100 % I unplugged it and 40 minutes later the battery dropped to 70 %.
Today I unplugged my iPhone 4s at 8:20 this morning with 100% and by 10:43 AM I am down to 63%. By 11:13 AM the battery was at 54% and by 11:46 AM the battery was down to 44% with me not touching it. I have turned everything off such notifications, locations services...etc and nothing in the background is working and I only used it for a 10 minute conversation.
It seemed that a lot of users are have similar issue. Not sure if the issue related to iOS 5, iPhone or bad batch of iPhone or iPhone batteries.
Before getting the iPhone 4S i had a 3GS from a family member that i had to charge at least 3 times a day. The only reason I got the new 4S is to not have to deal with frequent charge. I think I am 90 % close to returning the phone back to Apple and wait few months before attempting to purchase another phone.
    Thanks.....B

What made the trick for me was to drain the phone completely - until it dies. (It took quite a while to go from 3% to 0...). Then, charge it overnight.
Previous days I would start charging it with the battery at 10-15%, on red. Also for the last week I've been trying disabling functions, with the hope of finding what was the "offending" piece but without much success. Still was loosing about 10% per hour, just by using it to check emails, maps, and sometimes a call.
Today is almost two hours since I left home, with everything turned on again, used mail, maps with traffic during the ride to work, some browsing - using it "normally" - and the battery is still at 95%.
That looks more like normal to me.!!
Might try to drain it to 0% again as many other suggested, but if it is a battery charger "calibration", it shouldn't be necesary to do it more than once.

  • Iphone 4s battery draining extremly fast

iphone 4s battery draining extremly fast, how annoying is that, Battery will be drain out within 12 hrs and I just usually watch 30 mins video (not using 3G/wifi) and 10mins on Phone .
I always turn off my Siri, Auto Detect Time Zone, 50% Brightness, NO background Apps are running and Mail is manually updated.
Does anyone facing the same problem?

Go to advanced and set icloud to manual I used to suffer from this because of icloud it was stuck in a loop and always draining the battery, try also resetting your network settings if it didn't work reset all settings and set it as a new phone drain the battery and charge it from 0 to 100% to recalibrate the battery , hope this works for you

  • My iphone 3gs battery drains very fast

my iphone 3gs battery drains very fast it won't last for whole day
i just uses mail application and  facebook for some time
can u tell why the problem is or need to change battery

I'm having the same problem with my 3Gs.  In my case it is not the apps int he background or the brightness, or wifi or email push.  The folks at the apple stroe tell me that there is some software glitch that shows up every few months.
I can only get rid of it by restoring my phone as a new device.  In which case I lose all of my contacts, settings and all data.  VERY frustrating. I had recived two new phones (before applecare ran out) and have done the resotre several times.  No one can tell me what is in that creates this probelm.  I've tried differenet chargers one by one in case they are the probelm.  one int he car, one in a kitchen outlet, one at my home computer (sync) and on at my office computer (non-sync).
Problem just showed up again randomly two days ago,  no new apps or hardware.  battery drains from full to 0 in two hours.
    Apple, please fix.

  • IPod Touch battery draining too fast?

Recently, the battery life on my iPod touch has been draining too fast. Before I synced my iPod into my new laptop with a new iTunes, my battery life was very long, as I could go on for weeks before it was below 20%. Now, I can go from 100% down to 10% in under a minute.
Even if I charge overnight or have 100%, any time my iPod is unlocked, the battery drains fast. I've done several methods to try and solve the problem, such as deleting apps, lowering brightness, turn off background apps, and even bought the battery life app (which I've had before but it seems to do nothing now). Whether I use the camera, play a game, or surf the internet, the battery bar will go down really fast. Sometimes I'll have half of battery life left and all of a sudden, my iPod turns off because it instantly went frm 50% to 0%. Even harmless actions such as the clock or just staying on the home screen will drain more battery than it usually does. The music app seems to be the only one that can last longer than an hour, but even then, just leaving it in the background will deplete the battery faster than usual, as opposed to it being in the background for hours and not taking away any percentage.
My iPod still recharges normally (and quickly), and for some reason if I lock my iPod while it has a low percentage, when I unlock it again, a lot of battery is regained... and then lost almost immediately.
I'm not sure if this has to do anything with me syncing to a new iTunes. I'm still under the same username and whatnot, and all I did was use home sharing to import all of my music from the old computer to the new one, so I wouldn't have to constantly go to my old computer to sync with my iPod.
I currently use a 4th generation iPod touch with 8GB.
I'm just wondering, what can I do to solve this issue, to return it to how it was before? As of now, I can't afford to replace the iPod, and I'm willing to send my iPod for repair as a last resort.
    Thanks.

However, I suspect that your battery is just dying/wearingout. That happens with age and use.
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.

    http://www.care4pcs.co.uk/2012/10/how-to-be-happy-gmail-user-on-iphone-or.html
is to turn off wifi when you do not need it. When I leave the house I turn off wifi, because the majority of the times when my iPhone has got very hot and crashed is when I am away from home. I suspect that if the iPhone is in the vicinity of public wifi (wheather secure or not secure) it will try and connect, even if you have 'automatically join known networks' set to off. This is easy of course if you have an unlimited data contract for your iPhone. I may be wrong, but it is working for me. It makes sense for me because it is another way of reducing the work the processor (and battery) has to do and therefore reduces the chance of overheating.
Having said that, I never had this problem with my iPhone 4. I now have a 4S.
Try it. Hope it works for you.

  • IPhone 4 battery drains really fast and phone gets really hot

I have an iPhone 4 and since November 15 my battery has been draining really fast and gets really hot when I use the phone. When I try to charge the phone with my computer it doesn't charge, but only charges with the wall hub. I have tried deleting the email accounts, deleting all apps, restoring with the backup, restoring without the backup, and still no luck. I went to the Apple store and they briefly looked at it and said it had water damage by looking at the water damage indicator in the charging port. They told me I needed to pay $150 for a new phone. I don't recall getting my phone getting wet and it seems to work fine except for the battery drain and the computer charging problem. iTunes still recognizes the phone. I thought it was a battery problem so I ordered a new battery and replaced it myself and the battery was still draining fast. When I had the phone open the other water damage indicators were still white (no water damage), it was just the charging port indicator that was red (water damaged). Also, when I charge my phone with the wall hub it charges very slowly. I have ran out of ideas and I could really use some suggestions. Thank you.

i looked on the right there is no solution to my problem.i charge my phone to 100% after 2 hours with no usage at all of the phone with 3G off with wifi off with all applications shut down all notifications and locations off battery goes down to 50% when it was running on the older ios never had this problem in my iphone.when will this problem solved

  • Iphone 5 battery drains super fast !! any solutions Apple??

What a hick, unbelievable super fast battery draining on iPhone 5, I tried every thing to solve this big issue from reset every settings to a whole restore to the device the problem still exist, 100% battery life at 08:00 to 1% at 17:00 in the same day. Notice I'm not using 4G LTE, NO gaming, one or two calls max 5 min. Just a usual useage and still the battery still drinks a huge energy, what I'm trying now is turning off Location service hopefully it will do something to ger rid of the massive problem.
    Any tips!! Gent.
    Cheers,

(wouldn't be surprised to learn that your prior phone was jailbroken).
Since the 3GS, 4 and 4S I never used jailbreaking.
"99.9999% of users have no battery issues using backups from a prior phone."
Huh!! how do you know that?
"Huh?  You would rather have a near useless phone, burning through the battery to save SMS messages?  Do you really re-read old texts???"
Huh, will apple supose to figure out a solution. Do not defend some corrupted product.

  • IPhone 5S Battery Draining Unusually fast

I got an iPhone 5S in November and for the first few months it was working fine. For the past two weeks I have noticed the battery draining unusally quickly. Like the battery drains an avg 1-2% on 5 mins of me just using the phone on Instagram. I regularly close all my apps and live in Pakistan where there is no 3G so the LTE issue should not come into play either. I have read countless articles on how to fix your battery life and have tried everything from turning location services off to brightness to anything that is being suggested, even re installed iOS7 on my phone. I have to know charge my phone three times a day from it usually giving me a full day on standby. Any suggestions please?

Take it back to the Apple store and tell them that didn't fix the issue. You might have a hardware issue. Before you take it back though do a backup on your computer.

  • My iPhone 5 Battery Drains Too Quickly! Apps closed, bluetooth off, brightness, low, no notifications...What else can I do?

My iPhone 5 battery life is terrible! The software is updated--ios 7.0.6. I have to charge my phone 2-3 times a day on some days. I have to close all apps, turn off location services, turn off bluetooth, turn off 90% of my notifications, lower the screeen brightness to less than 10-15%, and turn off all push notifications--all to get my battery to last until 6:00pm.
I may talk on the phone 10-20 minutes a day, but check emails on my phone a few times in 10 hours. I am indoors most of the day so cold temperatures aren't at play (although if I do use my phone in the cold (less than 25 degrees), the battery drains within minutes!) If I leave  my Camera, Facebook, Maps, or the Weather Channel open in the background, my battery will go from 100% to 20% in less than 2 hours.
I have been to the Genius Bar more than once. They replaced the battery about a year ago becasue it was bad. I returned a few weeks ago to have them checked my battery again and it tested fine. The Genius I spoke with wiped my phone and removed all data on it and reset it. Unfortunately, the problem has not been solved.
Has anyone had similar problems? How did you resolve them?

I set the phone up this morning as a new phone no back up.
    Brightness set to full
    No wifi
    No bluetooth
    No back ground programs running
Fetch every 15 minutes for emails for half the day and then went to manually for second half
3G for half day and 2g for second half
    tethering off
thats all I can think of. My friend and I looked at all his setting and mine and they were both similar except he keeps his on wifi all day.
we put them to exact same spec when i got to his house at 3. I had close to 50% from a full overnight charge and when I left at 7:30 I left dead and His was at 17% left still from the previous day and when I left his was at 8%

  • Iphone 5 battery dies too fast, bought in Feb 2013

    Hi,
Recently Iphone has invited customers to get their battery replaced who have purchased the iphone 5 between Sept 2012 to Jan 2013. I have purchased my Iphone 5 on Feb 2013, however my battery doesn't hold a day (and quickly goes to 30%->0% in no time). I have checked on the apple page and my Serial number is not suggested to be affected by the fault that the company is admitting. Is it possible that the lot that I have purchased the phone in could also be faulty similar to its predeccars. I am facing the battery issue from almost beginning of this year now. That suggests my phone battery was fine only for an year. I am wondering if this is the average age of Iphone battery or my phone behaved exceptionally bad.
    Cheers,
    abhi134

that's still a relatively young phone 5 if you bought it in February 2013. but if you are near an apple store, try to see if they will let it in under the free replacement program anyways. they might say yes even if the serial number comes up as not affected. when you go there, they will help diagnose your iphone to see if maybe it's just some settings or apps on your iphone draining your battery. or you can try your own bit of diagnosing it yourself after reading articles about battery drain on iphone. this is one article you definitely what to read by a former apple genius technician person:
    http://www.scottyloveless.com/blog/2014/the-ultimate-guide-to-solving-ios-batter y-drain
my own experience is that Background App Refresh can really drain the battery (go into settings, general, background app refresh to turn that completely off or only turn off what you don't need). you may also want to go into settings to check on apps that do location gps stuff and leave location turned on for only what you need. for apps, the facebook app could be a big battery suck. also my experience is that apps sponsored by advertising could be a source of battery suck if they check your location or do background refresh even when they are off. LTE could be a possible battery suck (you can switch this off in settings to only get 4G), although many people will disagree on this, but my experience is it could be another battery suck if you find your iphone always alternating between LTE and 4G.
there is one app you might want to try "Normal: Battery Analytics" in the app store.  this can help to tell you which apps may be causing problems.
if you want the battery replaced, you may want to ask your local apple store how much they'll charge you if out of warranty. news was they are doing battery replacements in the store nowadays. but they may also suggest you buy a replacement iphone 5 which of course will cost more. otherwise, if you really want to change the battery, then search on yelp for a good repair shop near you that works on iphones to get a better price. but keep in mind that is outside the apple store, and afterwards you won't be able to get apple to do any future hardware repairs on that particular iphone. but since you're out of warranty anyways, you may end up being like me and either doing it yourself for whatever you are not afraid to do, or, better yet, going to a reputable outside repair shop for iphone repairs that are beyond your skills.

  • IPhone 5 Battery draining really fast?!

My iPhone 5C** is a week old. Brand new out of the box.
Lately it drains 10% of battery while on standby in 4 hours. That's too much battery loss for 4 hours. My iPad 1 can last longer while in standby. I've left it various times on 7% and after 24 hours I find it on 3% and at that rate I doubt the iPhone can go 250 hours on standby...
How is it that one of the first iPads can last longer than a brand new iPhone 5C?
I always have Cellular Data and 3G disabled because I don't need them.
    I have iOS 7.0.4
Any suggestions? I've followed various tips like disabling Background App Refresh.

Hey, I have the same problem, I am using iPhone 5S and lost my original charger, so used a fake charger for a while until it broke down and messed up my battery I guess, now my battery is running out approx. 3 times faster. I checked battery battery capacity using "iBackupBot for iTunes" and it shows that it is 1500 and original is 1550 so it should be all right. I still have warranty, my phone is almost 1 year old, but when I talked to service they checked my phone and said that there are no problems, try to reset your phone. But it does not help. I have to charge it 3times a day.. I just bought an original Apple charger and it does not help either.  Help !

  • Iphone 5 battery draining ultra fast

No, im not talking about the usual rapid draining here...
    Got a Iphone 5, iOS 7.
Almost everyday the phone could show 50%  + - left, and in just a couple of minutes its down to 10% and then shortly after turns of telling me its empty, how is that possible?
Very often around 50% or less, the phone also turns off directly, and when trying to turn it on again, the empty battery and charger symbol shows in the display, but if i hold the power and home button for a hard reset 8-10 secs, im able to turn it back on, and it shows the same % of power 40-50%
This has been going on since last fall now, even after several fw updates...
Suggestions, or other with similar experiences?
No, this has NOTHING to do with all the new apps pushing and all that, this is something else...
Btw, ive tried the cycling stuff, emptying it, fully charge it and all that stuff...
It must be a software issue.

So when the battery goes down to 10% from 50%, and one minute after i plug in the charger, it goes back to 50% again and stays there for a normal period of time, until it gets empty again, its the battery, and nothing else?
On what information is that based on? Links to backup that, or is it just something youve heard other people claim?
To me, its seems odd that the battery would perform normaly one day, and the next not.
Its like saying the car is out of gas, but suddenly gets half full again.
If a battery fails, it doesnt repair itself...
