IPhone 4S (iOS 6) not syncing with iTunes (10.7) asking to restore

I have an iPhone 4S and a MBP running on 10.6.8 with iTunes 10.7. My iPhone will no longer sync, making it impossible to manage my music. If it weren't for my music, I wouldn't really care to sync it aside from just backing up my contacts etc.
The message I am getting is "iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone. Go to the Summary tab in iPhone preferences and click Restore to restore this iPhone to factory settings."
I've searched online and tried many different things both on my computer and my iPhone such as reseting networks, changing the cellular data options, restarting my modem and restarting the wifi on my computer. None of it seems to work. Even if anything were to work temporarily until iTunes 11, I would love that, but I can't seem to find even a temporary fix. I am aware that lots of people have had or still do have this issue, and it's quite frustrating. Any help, suggestions, advice, is much appreciated.

Unfortunatley 5 GB is not necessarily a lot of space. What you should do is FIRST go into iCloud and choose what information you want turned on.
Settings >iCloud
Here you should see different Tabs that will let you select what you want to back up on your device. You have the option to back up the following data on your phone:
Mail
Contacts
Calendars
Reminders
Safari
Notes
Passbook
Photo Stream
Documents & Data
Find My iPhone
If you turn off some of these options you should free up some of your space.
Once you have backed up your device in iCloud, you can place your device in Recovery Mode in iTunes so it can be recognized.
To put phone in recovery mode: Hold down home button and power button at top of phone at the same time. Once you see the Apple on the device, CONTINUE to hold down the Home button. Plug your phone into iTunes. Do not let the Home button go until you see a message in iTunes stating that a device has been detected in recovery mode.

I have had my iPhone 4S for about two years, and for a long while now it has been unable to sync with iTunes. My iPhone has the latest iOS, btw, and my iTunes is also up to date.
When I plug my phone into my MacBook Pro, iTunes says that it does not recognize the device and would like me to restore it back to factory settings.
I would like to just restore it, but I do not have any backups for it on my computer. I would like to back it up first, but nowhere in iTunes does it give me the option to back it up at all. iTunes only shows the "summary" tab and does not let me see other lists (music, photos, tv shows, videos, etc). My iPhone, however, syncs fine with iPhoto and uploads my photos/videos with no problem.
Recently, the apps on my phone have been crashing. Aside from contacts, messages, and 70 photos as well as 22 videos, I do not have any other data on it. I do not have any music, and the only apps I have are Instagram and Snapchat aside from the apps that come with the phone. Under usage, it says that I have 14GB capacity and only 2.3GB available. I'm not really sure why 11GB of space is occupied because I don't have very much on my phone. But anyway, because my apps keep crashing, I wanted to factory restore my phone and just add back my messages, contacts, and my photos/videos. However, iTunes will not allow me to back up my phone.
I have tried using external apps for backing up (ex: iExplorer), and apps like iExplorer allow you to save files from your phone perfectly fine, but do not allow you to put them back onto your phone. It is just a way of externally saving your stuff onto your computer. (If anyone knows of an app that I can use to actually back up my phone, I would appreciate it! Assuming that iTunes does not come through...)
I was told a while back (when iOS 6 was released) that with iOS 6, my phone would no longer sync with iTunes because it would now be done through iCloud, but the 5GB of space on my iCloud is not enough to back up what is on my phone, so I have avoided using iCloud for a long time. I was also told that my iTunes may not be up to date enough in order to recognize my phone, but my iTunes is updated and still no success.
I have literally tried everything. I have read every forum on the internet (or at least, that's what it feels like!), and I have even gone into the Apple store (to which the lady said that my phone would no longer sync with iTunes, which I don't understand because I know people with iOS 6 and above who have had no issue syncing).
If anyone can provide some insight into my lengthy issue, I would really greatly appreciate it. I do not want to restore or change any settings until I am sure that I have my phone backed up in a way that can be retrieved and placed back.

IPhone 4s (iOS 7) not syncing with iTunes 11.1.3 for Mac

A few weeks ago, my iPhone ceased to sync with my computer. When I plug it into my computer, it charges, but does not appear in iTunes. I have searched the communities here and some folks suggest deleting and reinstalling iTunes, but my computer says OS X cannot do this. I updated all of my phone and iTunes software to the latest versions, but no luck. Does anyone have any suggestions so that iTunes will recognize my iPhone again? It all worked fine from the time I bought this computer in March until roughly October.

Iphone 4s and 5 not syncing with Itunes

Please someone help me. I am having the same issue with my iphone 5 and my daughters iphone 4s. We are using Windows on Asus newer laptop. We are on the most up to date versions of Windows and itunes. When you plug into computer and it connects to itunes, it says that the phone needs to be restored. When you try and restore it, it gives you an error. I then take it to anyone who has a mac to restore it, bring it back to our computers and try again. This time, it will recognize it but when you try and sync the music, it will go through steps 1-4 and then the bar with the music will instantly go back to no audio on it. I have tried the process several times and it does the same thing. When I take it to the apple store, they say it has to be an issue with my pc because it restores fine on their mac. Help!

Disconnect the device and quit iTunes.
In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash. (This will not remove any of your iTunes media or your iTunes library.)
Choose Go > Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/Extensions
Click Go.
Locate the file "AppleMobileDevice.kext" and drag it to the Trash.
Restart the Mac.
In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
Click Go.
Locate the folder "MobileDevice.framework" and drag it to the Trash.
In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
Click Go.
Locate the file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" and drag it to the trash. (Do not move the similarly named "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist" file to the Trash.)
Restart the Mac.
Download iTunes and reinstall it. Test to see if the issue persists. Then, restart your Mac a final time to confirm issue is still resolved.

IPhone 5 Music ratings not Syncing with iTunes

Had this problem for a while now and cant find anything searching the forum...
I used to be able to rate (4 stars/5 stars etc) a new song that I recently added to my iPhone and then when I later synced with iTunes on my pc the same ratings I placed on my phone, would then also appear in iTunes on my pc. I dont know why it's not doing it anymore, its really annoying me!

Iphone 5 charging but not syncing with Itunes

Have searched thru the posts and have done practically everything I could find and suggusted (inlcuding upgrading, a full reinstall of itunes and a simple reset of iphone (vs a restore which I cannot do as phone doesnt show in devices) . .but still no go . .
This is also happening with my wife's iphone 5 so this is not personal to my phone.

IPhone/iPad Mini does not sync with iTunes 11.4.

Recently installed iTunes 11.4. But now, I am not able to sync my iPhone 5S and iPad Mini with it. Apple has to have a solution with this.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

Why won't it sync? Are you getting any sort of error message during the sync process? If so what is the exact wording of that error message? If this the computer you normally sync the iPod with?

Why won't my iphone 3gs will not sync with itunes???

My Iphone 3GS will not sync with itunes on my iMac computer. Currently the device is plugged in and recieving a charge. I am operating the version 10.6 in itunes and the version OS5.1 on the 3GS. Can anyone help me figure this out?!?!?!

My iPhone does not sync with iTunes

Since updating the software on my iPhone iOS 7.0.4, it will not sync with iTunes (ver 11.1.3) on my laptop. I can deselect and re-select podcast, music, audiobooks, etc. then sync. iTunes will act like it is synce (going through 6 steps) but nothing is transferred to my phone. Does does not matter what combination I used or how many time I try to sync and apply changes. Even if I change nothing and sync the phone, nothing appears on the phone was the sync is complete. This has been extremely frustrating.

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

First it told me to uninstall itunes and install a windows 64 bit version which I did, the phone still won't sync
At the same time the itunes won't access the store
I've never accessed the store before or synced the phone
I live in a country without apple stores and geniuses so this is really the only way someone can help me

For the iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, the iPhone is supposed to automatically sync with iTunes over Wi-Fi when plugged into a power source. This is not working for me. The iTunes is connected to my phone over Wi-Fi, and the Settings are all approiate. However, the iPhone will not sync automatically; I need to manually start the sync from either iTunes or my iPhone. By any chance, did you have the Find My iPhone app installed prior to it being stolen?
