Iphone 4s upgraded to iOS 5.1 - outgoing calls impossible

i bought my apple iphone 4s today here in germany. i updated the software to iOS 5.1, and outgoing calls are impossible to make. please help.

though i think you're referring to 5.0.1 not 5.1, we're hoping 5.1 will fix the problem (that i have too)

Hi all,
After having updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1, my phone now seems to have the following problems:
It doesn't receive calls - using a landline and calling my iPhone results in the landline just ringing and ringing;
The iPhone can make outgoing calls but, once the call is terminated (i.e. i press the "end call" button), the "phone" app sits there forever - previously the phone app would disappear once i press the "end call" button.
I can't send sms messages - after hitting the "send" button, the progress bar showing the transmission status moves about 80% to completion and then stays there for good.
This has all happened in the past day or so. My iPhone 4 has been running without any problems for well over a year with various older ios versions, as well as about 1 week on ios 5.0.
It seems that the updated to 5.0.1 has caused these problems though I do note that these problems didn't occur immediately. I was using my iPhone with 5.0.1 quite happily for around a day (making and receving calls) before encontering my current problems.

Same here.... No fix. Replacing is the option apparently and if you're out of warranty, you're SOL. That was as per the "Genius" at Apple.

Same phone same os same problems. Over the past week my iPhone has been having trouble connecting to wifi. Have to join my home wi fi manually, everytime I want to go on Internet. Then it works for maybe a minute or two, then stops. Happening on other known networks too. Help

Well I just fixed this, by sheer luck.
I did a restart of my MacBook Pro, and after it restarted iCloud was visible and accessible in Finder.
It seems all that it needs is a system restart.

I am having the same problem. Squeal with handset calls, no squeal with bluetooth in the car or on speaker phone. Some calls have no squeal, but then I can hear the person on the other end, but they cannot hear me. Has anyone come up with a solution? I am going to reset to factory settings and see if that helps.

The instruction from ATT about unlocking iPhone said I just need to restore my iPhone using iTunes, then it is unlocked. But I don't want to upgrade to iOS 6. Is it possible?

This is what I would try first, if it works great (if not you will have to Restore to get the Unlock). Tap Settings App > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. When this is done you will be at the same iOS as when you started. Before doing this back up your iPhone to iCloud and Sync with iTunes, so your are backed up safely.

I have had an iphone 4s running on ios5.1.1. Everything was fine and worked. Then i upgraded to ios 6.1.2. recently. The next followed.
1. I can not restore backups. Not recent, nor older. The file corrupt or incompatible... the messeage says something like this.
2. The phone tends to forget knonw networks, auto join function is not working properly.
3. NNG iGO app can not be installed at all.
I uninstalled itunes completely, shoot off the computer, reinstall it - no success.
I have restored it to original factory settings several times - no success.
Th iphone is 4s 32 gb cc one year old.
Any idea?

For the backup problem, take a look at this doc -> iOS: Troubleshooting backup issues in iTunes
for the Wi-Fi problem, try Resetting Network Settings from Settings > General > Reset. And, see this for other ideas -> iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

Apple stopped signing iOS 6. Though speaking now, I don't know if they stopped signing every iPhone..

Slow back up on iphone 4 upgrading to ios 5

I am trying to upgrade my iPhone 4 to the iOS 5, but it is going very slow during the backup. The little window that says Backin up iPhone has been up for over an hour, and there is only a small green sliver for the progress bar. Any ideas? Thanks.

My Tip: disconnect Network of your computer when it starts the Backup part and reconnect when it finnished.

Sounds like your iPhone was previously hacked/jailbroken. If true, try using google.
