IPhone 5 isn't being recognized by iTunes.

iOS/os/iTunes all up to date. I plug in through lightening and I get no Sounds to indicate connection and my device doesn't pop up in iTunes. However, I plugged my iPad into our iMac (same computer I tried the 5 on) and it works just fine.

  • My iphone isn't being recognized by itunes and is stuck on the itunes/plug symbol on the screen.

I got an error from an update and now my iphone 4 doesn't show up on itunes as a device.  Does anyone know how to fix this?  I have the most recent version of itunes downloaded.

    Quit iTunes.
Disconnect your iPhone from your PC.
    Go to Control Panel.
List installed software and remove the driver software for the iPhone. It's named something like "Driver or Device, Apple iPhone".
    Restart Windows 7.
Connect your iPhone, make sure it the screen is not locked.
Windows should automatically re-install the driver software for the iPhone now.
If it has done that, start iTunes.
iTunes should now detect your iPhone again.
    Kind regards,
    emeu1

  • TS1538 My iphone is not being recognized by iTunes.

The computer is "seeing" the phone, but nothing is coming up in iTunes.  I have a 2nd iphone that is being recognized.  I have another computer, rebooted, reinstalled, and tried holding the home button as I plugged in the usb cable.  I went to do a restore and ever since the phone says to connect to itunes and then is not seen by itunes.  Any suggestions would be helpful!

Follow up...took it to the Apple store and they were able to get it to connect to iTunes...go figure!

  • IPhone 3gs not being recognized by iTunes on Win Vista 64?

I feel like I've tried everything I can but I know i'm missing something here.  I noticed it yesterday that when I plug in my iPhone, iTunes doesn't recognizethe phone and therefore will not sync with it.
I've tried to reinstall iTunes with no luck. I've gone into device manager and removed all references to the iPhone and reinstalled the drivers with no luck.  I've plugged my phone into another computer and it immediately tried to sync with my phone so I think that would lead me to believe that there isn't an issue with my iPhone but with my computer and windows.
I'm not sure what else to do but would greatly appreciate any suggestions on what I can do.
    Thanks!

In this article about your device not being recognized in OSX, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1591 ,it is mentioned, that
In some cases, you may need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service.
    So give it a try.

  • My ipod touch isn't being recognized by iTunes or my computer. It's in "ipod recovery mode"?

My ipod touch 5th generation is not being recognized by my computer under devices or in itunes; however, when I click on devices and printers it comes up under "unspecified" and is labeled as "Apple mobile device usb driver." I right clicked the icon and hit troubleshooter and it opened itunes and told me I should restore and update my ipod. I did this twice and nothing has changed, it is still not being recognized. This is a big problem because the only thing that will pop up on the screen of my ipod is the symbol for the usb plug with an arrow pointing to the itunes symbol (meaning plug into itunes I assume). I have tried restarting my ipod and restarting my computer and nothing is working. I have the most recent version of itunes. How do I fix this?

    first try:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    next
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPhone 5 not being recognized by iTunes but rather iTunes crashing

    Hi,
This is a bit long winded leading up to the current issue I'm having.  To start of with, I'm using:-
    iPhone 5, iOS 7.1.1, 16G
    MBP (mid-2010) 2.66GHz, i7, 4GB 1067Mhz DDR3
    OS 10.9.3
    iTunes 11.2.1
The battery on my iPhone 5 (1 yr old) was being drained too quickly - a 40min review of news articles on the train would drain my battery from 100% to 80%.  This was the case after switching off the 'Background Refresh App' function and closing all apps in the background. So I took it to Apple who ran a quick diagnostic that came up with no issues with the battery.  However, when running an extended diagnostic, the phone was unable to complete this. So they decided to replace the phone.
Here is where it gets a bit hairy.....
I'm in the UK and the genius asked me to erase all my data.  I did and then she realised she had to order a phone from the US since that's where I bought mine from - 'like' for 'like' apparently.  Up till this point, the issue was solely with my battery.  The phone was syncing fine with iTunes both through wifi and lightening USB cable (Apple original).  I took the phone home to restore it from a backup but it wasn't being recognised by iTunes.  In fact, every time I plugged it in iTunes would stop responding necessitating a 'force quit'.
Two days later, I received my new phone.  I fired up iTunes (working fine) then plugged in the phone to set it up from a backup (FYI, I don't back up to the iCloud since I'm not keen on their T&C's).  Again iTunes stopped responding.  If I force quit iTunes and started it again without the phone plugged in, iTunes works fine.  If the phone is connected, iTunes won't fire up (or would become unresponsive if already working).
I uninstalled iTunes including deleting the following files:-
    /System/Library/Extensions/AppleMobileDevice.kext
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework
restarted the MBP then reinstalled iTunes.  Unfortunately, the problem remains.  I've connected another iPhone 5 and again the application is rendered unresponsive. There is no doubt that the problem arises when iTunes tries to comunicate with an iPhone.
Any suggestions on what the problem might be and how to rectify it please? Thanks.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
