IPhone 5 won't connect to Wifi

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4. I've been having trouble connecting to the wireless network at my dads house. I can connect this phone on every other network i've ever tried with no problems. Everyone else can also connect to my dads network with no problems. This phone used to connect to his network also. The wpa key was saved so it would connect automatically then about 2 weeks ago it popped up and asked me for the password and hasn't been able to connect since then. When I type the password it tries to connect for about 2 seconds then says password incorrect. I have tried rebooting the phone and router and even changed the password on the router. I have gone into the settings on iPhone and clicked forget network then tried to reconnect several times. Nothing on his wireless network has changed in over a year so I don't think it's anything on that end.
Anybody have any ideas? I have read several articles with people having connection issues but nothing people have suggested worked for me.
Thanks
Mark

mjpatera! i'm really sorry that this reply has nothing to do with this one particular post of yours, but i really need to ask you a question. i saw your thread from the summer where your macbook pro didn't turn on or charge and you sent it in to get fixed. when you got it back, were all of your files still on your computer? sorry, i'm a college student freaking out because it's finals week and my laptop crashed just like yours and i have a very important file on mine that i need... thanks!

  • Iphone won't connect to wifi

My iphone won't connect to my home wifi. It say's connected but when i try and go online it say's unable to connect. I've tried forgetting the network, turning wifi off and on. The ip address is ok and my laptop connects ok.
Has anyone got any ideas about how i can fix it?

I am having the same issues as GirlyGirl.  Every other day or so my iPhone 3GS won't connect to wifi.  Before I was showing the wifi signal as if it were attached but I couldn't surf Safari.  Now even though under the wifi settings it shows I'm connected, I don't get the wifi fan showing I'm connected.  I've done the following:
    Renewed lease
    Forgotten network
    Reset Network Settings
    Reboot my iPhone
Two days ago when I rebooted the router and Reset Network Settings it started working correctly.
I've been working with my internet provider, they tell me my firmware on my 2wire is up to date & the issue is definitely with my iPhone.
Security Settings:  WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES)
My iPhone is attaching to the 169.x IP Address and the Subnet is 255.255.0.0. The router, DNS and Search Domains are blank.
Also to note, I changed the name of my device through the gateway router so I could identify it more easily.  As of today it had defaulted back to the old name which is the ip address. Even if I don't change anything it isn't keeping those settings.
Other than restarting my router and taking everything down for 15 minutes each time, what else can I try?

  • Iphone won't connect to wifi network

iPhone won't connect to a wifi network - just get a message saying it won't connect to the network (it doesn't give me a message that I've got the password wrong). Other devices do join the network OK
What should I do to try t resolve it?

    Hi,
I bought my iPhone 4s yesterday and I'm having the same problem, my laptop, my old HTC Legend and my work macbook all connect to my wifi no problems.  My iPhone won't.
I've read through everything I can find on here, and on Sky help and have tried:
    Resetting router
    Resetting network settings on iphone
Using MAC address access control on the router
    Changing channels on the router
    Switching everything off and on
Someone suggested doing 'forget network' on the iphone, but I can't find this option
Turning off 3G and mobile data and trying to connect
Checking password is correct (it is)
Kind of at a loss now as to what I can do, I've emailed Sky and waiting for their advice, but should I take it back to the shop to exchange it?  Everything else I have connects just fine, no problem.
It just says "unable to join network"
    Anyone help?
    Thanks

  • Iphone won't connect to wifi due to incorrect password, even though it is correct! Help?

So my Iphone 4s has been having problems with the no service error now and again so I decided to reset the network settings to try and fix it. Now since this reset,my iphone refuses to connect to wifi even though the password I'm entering is 100% correct!  I keep getting the 'Incorrect password error'.
I've resetted the router and reset the wifi network, rebooted my phone, performed a hard reset but there is still no fix
I have many other devices connected to my wifi without any problems. 3 computers, an ipad, android tablet and other iphone.
My phone is jailbroken on 6.1.2 so I don't want to have to restore my phone.
My phone will connect to wifi with wifiFoFum but as soon as my phone goes to sleep it disconnects so its rather annoying!
    I hope you can help

Well are you absolutely certain you know your password.  This is a risky troubleshooting step because it could kind of make the situation worse, you should try to forget the network on your computer and really make sure you can enter your password again on another device.
It might just be a capital letter or something that is tripping you up.
If you are having an actually wifi hardware issue it doesn't pop up with an error about an incorrect password.  Theres other errrors for that.  Incorrect password errors only pop up because there is an issue with the password

  • IPhone won't connect to wifi at all!! Please help.

I have an iPhone 4 and I don't use it as a phone any more but I do use it for downloading songs and stuff of wifi, kinda like an iPod touch but I dropped it in water(not the first time I have done this) and as usual it will come back alive after drying but this time the wifi says no wifi and it is colored light gray.everything els is normal about the phone except I can't get Internet via wifi. Can someone tell me if there is another way to access the Internet with this device or how to fix the wifi? Oh and one more thing, when I go to general and press about I see that the wifi address says N/A so I don't know if I can just get a new address or what.

    "followed all directions"
so you followed ALL the steps described in these articles?
iOS: Connecting to Wi-Fi - Apple Support
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support
iOS: Wi-Fi settings grayed out or dim - Apple Support
    If so, since it states:
If someone else set up your network, ask them for help. If you’re using a network at a company, school, hotel, store, or other free Wi-Fi location, find an employee for assistance.
If you're connected to a Wi-Fi network but you can’t get online, try to use your Wi-Fi network on other devices. If you can’t get online using your other devices, there might be a service outage. Call your cable company or internet provider for help.
Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network in a different location. If your device can connect, you’ll need to get help with your Wi-Fi network. If it can’t connect to any Wi-Fi networks, contact Apple.
Update your Wi-Fi router with the latest firmware and make sure the router supports your Apple product. For more information, contact the manufacturer of your router.
    Who set the wifi?
what other devices did you try?
what did the internet provider say?
did you try different wifi locations?
Thanks for taking more time to post your problem and for using Apple Support Communies

  • Ipad and iPhone won't connect to wifi

I just purchased (today) an ipad 3 and iphone 4S.  Neither will connect to my apple time capsule, but my mac and ipad 2 connect fine.  I've tried turning both new devices off and unplugging and restarting the time capsule, but no luck.  have tired "forgetting" the network on both devices and then re-entering the password, no luck.  Help!!!

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.
If none of the above suggestions work, look at this link.

  • Wifi on Ipad and Iphone won't connect

I have an iphone 4s and an ipad mini, both updated to iOS 7 and they both will not connect to wifi. They will connect when I am at home or at Starbucks etc., but not while I am at school. My phone did connect at school last year, but has not been able to connect this year. They will both say that I am connected, but when I go to use the internet it says I am not, even though it shows I am. The tech guys at my school have not been able to figure it out. Any ideas?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netwhttp://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

my macbook pro is connected to internet via my time capsule but my iPad and iPhone won't. it shows wifi connection to the time capsule but when i go on to the internet on the iPad or iPhone, it comes up with network error. can anyone help?

This can be caused by a number of issues.
Was everything working and then suddenly stopped??
Or is this a new clean setup and has never worked.
Do you have a cable modem which is not a router and the TC setup in bridge? That will cause it. The TC must be in router mode, ie dhcp and nat.
Check the IP the MBP gets including dns and gateway..
Then check the ipad/iphone.. post what IP dns and gateway (router in applespeak) they get.

  • IPhone 4S won't connect to wifi E2500

When I try to connect new iPhone 4S, it goes to the page for all the info (IP address, etc.) instead of just asking for the password input. I've tried disconnecting router and restarting, plugging iPhone into iMac laptop, etc. (PC is hardwired into server and PC laptop, iMac laptop and former iPhone 3 all connected to wifi w/o difficulty.) Went to site of purchase (12/2011) of Lynksys E2500. They suggested might need to download a driver.
Any suggestions on how to locate and install updates to driver for E2500 to allow connection to iPhone 4S?

First of all try connecting the iPhone 4s once again in the following way. Here is the link for the same: http://cydiajb.com/forum/connect-iphone-4-to-wireless-router/.
The Cisco Connect software has the capability to update the router or hotspot’s software and firmware automatically. Here is the link for updating the router’s software and firmware using Cisco Connect:

  • IPhone 4s won't connect to Wifi or my Macbook Air

I have an iPhone 4s (iOS 7.1 software, phone says it is up-to-date) and it is not recognized by my Macbook Air (OS X version 10.9.2, computer says it is also up-to-date). I switched computers in January, from a Macbook Pro to a Macbook Air, but did not transfer any iTunes information onto the Macbook Air from the Pro. I've avoided connecting my phone to iTunes on the Air because I would lose my music on my phone (which I have backed up on the Pro). I don't know if that has anything to do with the problem, figured it was worth mentioning. My iPhone also stopped connecting to Wifi (it is greyed out), causing me to use a lot of data. How do I fix these two issues?

at this very moment, all of apple's servers are a little over loaded, so i wouldn't be surorised if you have trouble baking up to iclou right now. with that being said, go a head and try restting your network settings under Settings > General >Reset > Reset Network Settings
