Iphone alarm clock makes no sound

The day after daylight savings my iphone alarm clock stopped making any noise. Its very stressful and im sure its not on silent, do not disturb. The ringer and volume are all turned up it just doesnt even vibrate. Its not that it doesnt say there is an alarm, the screen will turn on and say an alarm is present but it just wont make any noise or vibration ): . This happened right after daylight savings and ive had enough is anyone else having this issue. I really dont want to restore it just is so much work. I mean i will if i have to but has anyone come up with an easy solution?

Have you tried resetting your device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Slide to Unlock screen redisplays, go into your Alarm, edit it, and see if the sound is playing correctly when you select the alarm sound.
You can also try editing it to a different alarm sound to see if that is working.
Cheers,

  • IPhone alarm clock via speakers

    Hey,
I wanted to ask if the sound of my iPhone alarm clock is transmitted to speakers while it's connected with the Apple Universal Dock. I tried it with a 3.5mm wire but no sound was transmitted.
Does anybody have some experience with the iPhone alarm clock and speakers?
    Thank you very much
    Philipp

  • My iPhone alarm clock is not working. Anyone else?

My iPhone alarm clock is not working. I have the latest software: 6.2.1. I set my alarm at 11:30 pm to go off at 12:30 am and 3:30 am, neither went off. I actually wok up right before 3:30, open up the clock app to see if my alarm was on and both the alarms were set to off. I have been having trouble with alarms similarly the last week or so.

    Hi Homer,
I would suggest a re-install of the iPhone to fix this issue.
Make sure to do a full backup of the iPhone before you do this otherwise you may lose some of your data

You might be able to find a few here:

Also, the iPhone has a built in alarm in the Clock widget.
    Hope this helps,

  • IPhone alarm clock fails when volume off

I set my alarm to wake me up this morning. It went off, but made no sound. I'd turned my iTunes volume low.
Surely it makes sense for the alarm clock to, by default, make a sound?

Not sure if you figured this out yet, but on my iPhone 3gs, I am able to turn the system volume all the way up (using the physical buttons on the left side), then turn my music on in the iPod app, lowering the volume using the iPod volume controls. Even when volume is set all the way down in the iPod app, I still hear the alarm as loud as my system volume was last set. Try it out, hopefully it works for you too.

  • IPhone Alarm Clock issue after iOS4.0 upgrade

    This is a strange one;
Upgraded to i0S4.0 couple of days ago, and since then the default alarm clock app has gone haywire. It has duplicated each of my alarms (I must've had about 9 in there fore various things) about 50 times.
If I try and delete them, they disappear but if I exit and then re-enter the app, they're all there again!
    Any suggestions?
    Cheers.

I'm having the same issue. I had 8 or 9 legitimate alarms set, as well, but now there are somewhere between 1500 and 2000 with a couple hundred duplicates of each one. The number of duplicates is growing, too, but I can't tell if the additions happen each time I sync the phone or each time the clock program is reloaded on the phone. I noticed this first on my 3G after upgrading it, and it is also happening on the iPhone 4 having all my data transferred from a backup made of the 3G running 4.0. I've also noticed that if I try to delete them from my phone, at some point the clock program becomes nearly unresponsive causing even other programs than the clock to crash and requiring the phone to be resynced.
I've seen a couple of people mentioning similar issues in other threads that sound like they could be related or even the same, and they are always talking about upgrades on the same phone. There doesn't seem to be anyone affected who transferred directly from a 3.x device to a new 4.0 device.
While not a solution, here's at least my suggestion of why it's happening. I've poked around a bit in the backup files stored on my laptop from this phone (under ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync), and I've found two different plist files in the same backup storing the alarms in two slightly different formats.
This is purely conjecture, but I would guess what happened is the location & format between 3.x and 4.0 of where the alarm data is stored changed. The "upgrade" isn't a complicated process that mulls over and handles situations like this during the install. It's just a wholesale firmware replacement. Any changes like this would probably need to be handled by the actual programs themselves when they're running on the phone. Something in the upgrade process that's supposed to translate the old format to the new format is broken leaving behind the old data instead of removing it after the conversion, and every so often some trigger in the clock program (like a check for new data after a sync or just the initial loading when the phone restarts) is causing it to see that old 3.1 style data still there, redo the conversion process, and reimport what it finds as another set of duplicates.
That's only a guess, though, and as it's a one-way backup-only folder I can't edit them and resync to see if cutting them out of the data files on the laptop will remove them from the phone. Even if this is wrong, though, I can't imagine how it could be anything too far different from this. That would be a very simple bug to introduce into the code that would be specialized enough to be easy to overlook in testing. Again, that's all just a guess.
While I'm making wild speculations: I'm guessing the problem with the phone needing to be resynced when deleting several alarms is from one of these files on the phone storing the alarm data getting corrupted. If I was a betting man, I'd say this is likely due to corruption making the XML of the plist malformed from different threads writing changes to it simultaneously because it's so huge from all these entries and seeking through the file to update it is taking longer than anyone would reasonably expect and test for or program to protect against. Because, honestly, who thinks while coding something like this, "I need to make sure the user is safe when editing 2000 alarms..."

  • Ihandy alarm clock pro no sound

I have used the ihandy alarm clock for a few years on my 3GS no problems.
It's great as you can set the alarm to your choice of music and give the phone a shake to snooze rather than push buttons
Since upgrading to an iphone 5 the alarm has failed to go off on three occasions... slept in once, wife's alarm got me off the hook the other twice
The first time I thought I had forgot the alarm or had the sound turned off. All other sounds on the phone were silent. A reset fixed things
The second time the display showed that the alarm was running but there was no sound. A reset was required to get any sound out of any application
On both occasions the sound button was set to on.
I wasn't able to reproduce the problem and neither was the person at the Apple store but they replaced the phone THANK YOU
That was a week ago and it has been fine till this morning... same problem, saved by my wife's alarm
There are a few posts about similar irrefular problems but no apparent conclusive solution
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks
    Peter

I've had the same problem with the iHandy alarm clock on my iPhone 4.  Sometimes the alarm works fine, but randomly (twice per month?) it will appear to be alarming, but with no sound.  Once that happens, there's no sound from any app, and I can only fix it by rebooting the phone.
I've tried checking the sound on the phone every night before going to sleep, but even that's not a reliable precaution.  One time the alarm sounded normally at the alarm time - I pressed snooze and went back to sleep - then the alarm failed to sound at the snooze time.
I switched back this week to the "12,24 Alarm Clock Sleep Music" app - it's an older app and doesn't have as many features as iHandy, but I haven't had reliability problems with it.
I wonder if iHandy's "background alarm" functionality somehow conflicts with the iOS?  The 12,24 clock doesn't have that feature, which is one of the reasons I switched to iHandy clock - but it's more important to have a reliable alarm.

  • IPhone 3G that makes no sound.

So I bought an IPhone yesterday. I had bought one for my mom when it was already launched and was pretty impressed with the performance. It still works without any flaws. But the one I bought yesterday has one unique ability - It makes no sound from the speaker.
I did some research on it to know that I must plug and unplug the earphone a few times for the speaker to work.It didnt.
Somewhere they also mentioned that I should reset the phone with the home button pressed along with sleep button. It didnt work.
Now I have no clue what to do but to take it back to Airtel(the place i bought it) which is the authorized dealer for Iphones. If they tell me it has to be shipped to the service center(in another city) for repairs I am screwed. I hope she replaces it on the spot. Any Advice? There is no service center in the city i stay in.
I think she should replace it because
1> i paid for a new phone and not a repaired one.
2> I am returning it back in less than 24hrs.

Update - The restore option as well upgrading to the most up to date firmware has not helped the speaker is simply dead and I think this is hardware related.
I called up the Airtel store where i purchased this from and the cust rep told me that she would have to send the phone to Bangalore(another city) where the apple service center is and they would send a replacement handset.
What concerns me most is that she mentioned that all the other contents of the box would remain the same and that only the phone itself would be replaced.I am beginning to think that this may be a refurbished handset. If it is then I am being outright cheated as did not pay the price of a refurbed phone but a new one.
Is there anyways i can crosscheck or confirm that the set will be a new one?I think i should have just refrained from buying one instead of putting myself through all this crap and being without a phone for a week.

  • Iphone alarm clock didn't work this morning

I set a one-time alarm two days ago and it worked (it went off at 8:20am). This morning at 1:00am, I turned this alarm on again. But it didn't go off. So I did a test: set the alarm time to 10:00am and the alarm didn't go off. Fortunately, I used my wife's phone as a backup.
So the alarm problem is not fixed by itself (The claim by apple that it would be fixed automatically after Jan. 3rd is not true). It seems that this problem only happen during weekend?
The clock app on iphone is just a toy, don't count on it!!! Apple don't have any programmer to fix this problem or just don't care about the users. Apple is becoming another Microsoft.

Apple does care about this issue, the problem is being worked on.
For anything remotely important ALWAYS use a real alarm clock. Never depend on any cell phone for critical functions.
The alarm clock on my iPhone is working perfectly.

  • IPhone alarm clock display order

Is there a way to change the list order of alarm clocks?
I'd like them to be listed in chronological order, with the soonest date/time first.
The way it is right now seems to be based on time only, not taking the day/date into account at all.
I use the alarms like a task/to-do list sometimes, and it'd be more helpful if it showed me the list in "upcoming order".

No, the order cannot be changed.
You can submit feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

  • Looking for a specific Iphone alarm clock app

    Hello,
I have been looking on the apple store for an app that I came across a while a go. It's an alarm clock app with a calculator for morning tasks, so it will ask the user how many tasks and how long each task is going to need, and then it will calculate the total time the user need in the morning. It also has an alarm clock to wake you up according to the time calculator. If you have 5 tasks:
    brush up ---------------------------10 min
    prepare breakfast----------------10 min
    eat breakfast-----------------------5 min
    read news---------------------------5 min
    driving to school--------------------40 min
the total time is 1 hr 10 min. Then you enter the time school starts, 8am for example. The alarm clock will wake the user up at 6:50am in the morning on that day.
Does anyone have this app and would like to share the name of the app with me? I have been desperately looking for it and regreted not saving it to my wishlist on the first time.
Many thanks to the apple community!!!

1password is FREE for a limited time, and it allows you to store login info and notes(you can use as journal) and then lock the application with a passcode. And lockbox does about the same thing, it's free too.

  • Iphone doesn't make a sound alert when get texts many times

Has anyone else noticed that sometimes you get a sound alert that you got a text and many times you do not?

    Hello, Nina1125.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would make sure that you have a Text Tone set in Settings > Sounds.  If your device is witched to silent Text Tones will not be audible.

  • TS1630 My iPhone 4 wont make a sound when someone texts me

    Is the device on mute?
Is Do Not Disturb turned on?
    Is the volume turned up?
Is there a valid notification sound selected for the contact or general text messages?

  • My iPhone doesn't make a sound when I receive a text, even though it's on loud.

When a message comes through on my iPhone it doesn't give and text tone to say it has arrived. It will show it on the screen as normal when the home button is pressed. I have checked my handset is not on mute and the volume is full. It is not set to vibrate in any way. How can I fix this?

    Is the silent switch on?
