Officially? No. iPhones are not serviceable. Plus, there is no "mid frame". The thing has just two parts to the case: the front glass touchscreen and the back case. Hi all,
I´m experiencing a major issue with the iPhone 4 Touchscreen:
As soon as I lay down the iPhone on any surface and trying to open an app
or make an entry or so with one finger, the Phone often just doesn´t react!
Sometimes it works but most of the time it does not.
Only if I touch the frame, everything is working perfectly.
Is anyone having the same problems? And @apple support: How to solve the issue?

And if someone didn´t understand (like underexposed iMatt does), I´m talking
about the steel frame, that needs to be touched so that my Phone accepts the
touch command.
It seems as if this is a grounding problem, because as soon as I plug the Phone
to a grid (either on the Mac or a plug socket) it works fine.
By the way, a FW Update didn´t solve the issue and a friend´s iPhone 4 doesn´t
have this problem, so I guess I´m going to exchange a 2 day old iPhone.
I´m curios how often I have to change this one...my iPhone 3G has been changed
3 times during 2 years.

How can we get Apple to address bent iPhone 5 problem?

I have a bent iPhone 5. The device had gentle wear and was enclosed in protective case. AT&T told me the bending indicates a manufacturer's defect and I should get a replacement from Apple, but Apple's online and Apple Store representatives refuse to accept responsibility. They will not acknowledge that the alumiumum frame is inherently fragile, more so than previous iPhone frames, and the device requires a higher level of caution.

Apple promoted this device in part as a triumph of engineering. Thinner, yet very strong.

Shame on you apple! I have been an avid Apple fanboy for years. I have owned all iterations of the iPhone except the iPhone 4. I have always believed in your products. I have sold five times as many of your products by word of mouth than I have bought, and believe me, I have owned pretty much anything with your logo on it that has been produced in the last eight years. You were always a little bit behind the cutting edge, but I always bought your products because they simply worked. Under the reign of Steve Jobs you did a superb job ensuring your products became extensions of the human body, synchronously living our day to day lives with us, device in hand.
Then I bought the iPhone 5. From the first second, I was a proud owner of a new idevice. It immediately was placed in an Otterbox, where is stayed between cleanings. When in the car or at work, it sat in a dock. When carrying it, it was religiously carried in my front pockets. Then when I took it out to clean last week, I noted my phone was bent. Everything works fine. Except for the contour of my leg impressed into the phone. It is immaculate.
After a few minutes of searching the web, I was overcome by the numbers of blog posts, discussion board posts, and even youtube videos chronicling the woes of once happy iPhone 5 owners who are distraught about the conditions of their 200 to 400 dollar relatively new phones which are bent. After visiting the apple store and being shunned by the manager, I was beginning to get the feeling that this was not the same apple company that would stand behind their product as they did in the past. Apple's official response is that they do not cover physical damage resulting from abuse to the phone. They do not consider their flubbed soft phone as a manufacturer's defect. I was offered to repair my phone for 229 dollars. It's not that I don't have the money. I refuse to pay that on principle. Again, shame on you apple!
After speaking with management in their technical support department, I was offered a 50 dollar credit to use at the apple store on a new product. I was essentially told they apologized for my inconvenience, but there is nothing they can do. And oh by the way, you can't use the certificate towards the repair.
So at they point, I have lost all faith in Apple. I have seen the gap between Apple and Android rapidly closing. The apple ecosystem it seems has simply grown too large. They have forgotten the roots laid by Steve Jobs in which the bottom line was user experience, not profit. The adage, if you build it, they will come was what made you the juggernaut you have become.
My stable of Apple products is getting old. It is time to replace my original iPad and the seven year old iMac in the office isn't too far behind. Unfortunately, the sour Apple which I have recently eaten has me looking towards Google and its products. Their cloud based products are getting pretty cool and my 1000 plus employee company has just made that jump also. Migration is making more and more sense. It is no wonder your stock price has gone down around 400 dollars a share and your earnings remain flat.
I am putting this out there in the hopes it is actually read and heard. Leaving you, Apple, it one of the hardest breakups of my life. I hope you change, I do! I would still take you back if you got back on track, only I am skeptical that you won't be able to see past the arrogance you have developed now that you are too big for your britches.

Iphone 5 resolution

can't find the answer to this anywhere...
i've built a high-fidelity iphone5 app prototype in keynote. i'm running it on the mac in an iphone "frame" and it looks great
what i want to do now is have that same prototype run on the iphone. i've tried a number of different solutions and i can't find anything that works on iphone 5 resolution. keynotetopia, pop, etc.. all of the native iphone apps that render locally don't render at 640x1136
so, i was hoping that i could just use keynote on iphone. whoops, landscape only. no problem, rotated all of my prototype screens and built a new keynote file that is 1136 wide and 640 tall. load it into keynote iphone and get a warning that i used some transitions that aren't supported, no rpoblem, but then i get
"your presentation has been resized to fit"
and it renders everything sub-full screen.
is there anyway for me to render a "full-screen" 1136x640 presentation on the iphone using keynote? if not, does anyone know what the "native" full resolution it can support is?

Paste doesn't work on IPad, on sites that use frames

I work for MindBody Inc. and a client of ours brought to my attention that paste simply doesn't paste on our site. This is quite annoying for them, and in trying to find a fix, I discovered that a fairly moderate bug in Safari on the IPad. Paste just simply doesn't work in frames.
Does anyone know how I would go about submitting a bug to Apple?

When browsing the frameTest.html paste doesn't work. It shows up but clicking it pastes nothing.
Going to brianTest.html, paste works as expected.

Same problem with Atomic Web Browser on the websites using frames.
All the "identify web browser as" options have been tested, unsuccessfully.
It seems that the new iPad 4.2 iOS version solves the problem. I will test it on monday and post the results here. Stay tuned, or check it by yourself...

IPhone status bar space

Hi,
I am buiding an iPhone application my requirement is that it should also be compatible with iPad.Now when I am running the application everything goes perfect, but in iPad when the PhotoPicker is presented , a white space is shown in status bar's frame. How could we get the status bar of iPhone frame in iPad.
Any help will be appreciated.

Hello all,
A little more detail for everyone (and more questions). I found out that the NIB file for my item selector was not being used *+at all+*. Frustrating. I then did the following prior to addSubView:
\[\[ navigationController view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 320.0, 480.0)\];
And voila, the item selection box takes the proper size of the screen with no nasty gaps in between the navigation bar and the status bar.
Any ideas why the UINavigationController would be defaulting the navigation bar so low? Here's my "selectItem" method:

Compare the value of the current and the Last keyframe

in our company we built some ad, which is an html5 game (view the attachement). The user is able to move the ball through the labyrinth by tilting/moving the phone using the gyroscope-sensor inside of it.
Now our ceo asked me if i would be able to make a video out of it for a power-point presentation.
With a software tool i made a video-screenshot of the iphone screen, with it's interaction.
After that i imported the video to afx and added the video the iphone-frame and the hand.
Tracking of the ball didn't worked because of the rotating texture of the ball, but i followed the movement with a null-object.
Owning the information of the Balls movement in a null-object i connected the hand and the phone to the null-object. Getting the look the hand interacts with the game.
The movement of the Hand was to much so i divided the movement of the distance by 2 in an expression.
NOW THE PROBLEM:
The movement of the ball is just changing the parameter of the "position" not of the "rotation".
So i would like to the value of the current keyframe and of the last keyframe and get a value which is the difference of them (x-y=new value). But i don't know how to collect the data of these by an expression.
Could someone help?

Sorry didn't want to confuse anyone here.
I will go a little more into it.
If i am only taking the x value of the position and compare the actual state of x value with the satus of the x value of the keyframe before.
i will take this two values x1 and x2 to take the difference between them. With this new value.
i can modify the angle of the rotation between -90 and +90.
Know what i mean?
but i am not sure if valueattime works in this case because i need the information dynamic.

Different frame rate in movie mode? iPhone 4

I noticed that my iPhone shoots video clips with different frame rate from time to time. I suppose it slows frame rate on dark shots. For now all of my daylight shots are 30 fps, while night or dark ones are 25 and 24. This makes it hard to edit clips in iMovie for example, because difference in frame rate causes strobe motion effect on output.

For reliable results I would suggest to shoot two clips: one in sunny daylight conditions, another with ordinary room lightning, maybe a little darker than normal.

Okay so i had an iphone 5. I backed it up on icloud. Then i got the new iphone 5s i restored ot from icloud from my previous iphone 5. Now everything works find execept now the games are slowy and drops the frame rate and look choppy. Please help.

Then i restarted my iphone 5s as a new device downloaded the same apps even the ones optimized for ios 7 and the games still lag. And i just got my iphone 5s replace. The funny thing is. While im playing games and their running choppy and slow and if i take a snap shot inside the phone. They run smooth and HD but just for a few seconds and boom they go back to slow and choppy. Is it the ios 7 or the iphone 5s it self? Like i said this is my replacement iphone 5s because the other 5s did the same thing. And it was running slowly.

As far as I know you can't delete the primary email address for an iCloud account. It's assigned when the account is created. But your neighbor wouldn't have been able to get into your iCloud account without your Apple ID and password. Are you sure the account wasn't still on your phone when you gave it to him?
You could migrate a copy of your data to a new iCloud account but I would still be concerned that someone else was using my old account, which presumably still has your data in it.
I'm fairly certain that you're going to have to have iCloud support help you sort this one out as they may have the ability to make changes to an existing account that users can't. Make an appointment with the genius bar at a nearby Apple store and have them take a look at it. If necessary, they should be able to contact iCloud support for you.

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)

Why are you throwing away any future chances of out of warranty replacements when you drop or drown it? Apple will give you a warranteed replacement phone for $199 (in the US, roughly the same in your country)

Poster Frames on Ripped Videos Lost, Not Synced to iPad or iPhone

iTunes 10.2.1 on latest Mac OS X 10.6.7.
I have videos which I've ripped from Blu-ray via MakeMKV and Handbrake. When I import them into iTunes and then set a poster frame, more often than not:
1. The poster frame is easily lost, especially if I do a Get Info on a movie. Sometimes the poster frame disappears without me having done anything.
2. The poster frame is not included when I sync the movie onto my iPad or iPhone.
3. Also, chapter thumbnails for chapters appear in all black on the iPad or iPhone.
This is seriously lame. Does anyone know of a solution for these problems? Is ANYONE from Apple working on this? This USED to work in the days before iOS 4.2 and iTunes 10.

I've just experienced similar problem at work and found a solution to some extent. Initially we got the video artwork looking correct in itunes by right clicking on the video window whilst it was playing and clicking 'set poster frame', however although this worked for itunes the artwork dissappeared once on the iPad. The solution I have found is to use metaX on the pc to set the .mp4 video artwork and then use itunes on my mac to sync the videos. It's worth noting that every time I tried to use the mac version of metaX to add the artwork it made the entre video into a black screen.
Basically it seems itunes fails to proerly tag the metadata of some files, luckily other programs like metaX seem to do it ok.

When you upgraded to Snow Leopard did you select the option to install the Quicktime 7 Player? If not the start a reinstall, select the Custom install option and install just the Quicktime 7 Player. That will let you play the movies from iPhoto (although it opens and plays outside iPhoto with Quicktime Player.

Might need a little more information here. Are you trying to obtain screen captures? If all you're wanting to do is take stills from your videos then the answer is yes, you can but you'll have to transfer your videos from your iPhone to your computer first (unless you can find an APP on the iTunes store to help you to do it on your iPhone).
There are a few ways to do it. The first is that you can use the button on your keyboard called "Prt Scr" or "Print Screen". This takes a shot of your screen which you can then "paste" into a program like paint, or photoshop or even Word to then save as a jpeg image. When using this option a good trick is to use "Alt" + "Prt Scr" to only capture the current window rather than your entire desktop.
The other way to obtain screenshots is to download and install a program designed to do this for you. A great site to find something free to help you out is www.tucows.com. Try this link: http://www.tucows.com/search.html?search_scope=win&search_terms=screenshot&searc h_type=all
Also, some DVD programs have this function in built in them so it's a good idea to explore what's already installed on your computer.

My understanding (which could be wrong) is that the iPhone shoots video with a variable frame rate. This is likely so it can optimize video for FaceTime. So uncomplicated scenes can be shot with a lower framerate, and active scenes will be shot with a higher framerate.
