IPhone in the Car?

Anyone have any comments and suggestions about how the iPhone can be used in our cars.
Any comments on car accessories and if the iPhone sound can be heard on the FM radio.

In my Volvo '07 S60R I have the Volvo Bluetooth hands free kit installed. This kit provides complete hands free operation and has voice commands to make and receive calls.
My previous Palm Treo 650 worked kinda with this kit but would only do so if it had no more than 12 contacts - a real bummer and I suspect it was related to BT software level incompatibilities between the Treo 650 and the Volvo's BT hands free kit.
Having sold my Treo for $150 on Craigslist and replacing it with the iPhone I find EVERYTHING works as it should in my Volvo. There's no limitation on the number of contacts in the iPhone which is awesome for me. The iPhone also doubles as a music player thru my car's head unit and incoming calls cut the music, radio or CD playing automatically. The iPhone can be used manually to make call while it's connect to my Volvo's iPod adapter.
I'm a very happy camper wrt how the iPhone operates in my car and it's so much better than my previous Palm Treo 650.

Playing iphone in the car???

Does anyone know how to play the iphone through your car? My car is a 2006, but it doesn't have an auxiliary jack for playing music. I tried buying an FM modulator, but it doesn't work. I also went to the apple store and was told by a customer service rep that the iphone doesn't work with FM modulators. Can anyone help?

i have the same promblem before,i dont have AUX output in my car. Now i can play my iphone in the car also make a call or recived with one touch botton. what i did is the following:
1.Buy a fm transmiter with AUX output this item already include a USB charger. you may use this to charge your iphone but your iphone will ask you to turn on the airplane mode just ignore it. all you need anyway,is to charge your iphone.
2.AUX cable
3.Headphone jack
iphone owners, we all know the speaker phone is'nt loud enough specially when you are in the car.i asked my self if can do something!so i came up with something.the earphone that came with the iphone has a microphone.for me to able to play my iphone to make a call or recive a call and ect.in my car. what i did is by modifying the AUX cable.i copied the idea from the earphone that came with iphone.so i went to radio shack get the cheap microphone and soldering iron.
What i did is the following:
1.cut the AUX cable in half and peel off the color coded wire.
2.disassemble the mic and take out the microphone from the holder you dont need this.
3.start soldering it, whit AUX cable.
note:
make sure the color of the wire are the same. white and red goes to the microphone and the ground together.when you finish install the AUX cable with microphne along with your fm transmiter and iphone.make sure the microphone is invisable for no echos.

Whenever I plug my iPhone into the car charger (professionally installed and hardwired), it comes up with the yellow triangle and exclamation mark saying that this accessory isn't supported.   It's been working quite fine since 2010, now it's not.

My iPhone car charger was professionally installed in 2010 and again in 2013 and had been working perfectly for all of this time, now it's coming up with the yellow triangle and the text saying that this accessory isn't supported.    Is there an easy way to fix this without tearing everything to bits?    It all appears to have gone boonta about 3 upgrades ago and I haven't been able to use it since.
I've seen and tried the suggestions on Google, none of them work for long, and I'm certainly not going to tear the car kit or phone apart to overcome something that is obviously a software issue.    Surely Apple can overcome this?
And the bloody "Terms and Conditions" fiasco!   55 pages of mumbo jumbo that nobody would read EVER, and you get to the end and nothing happens.   I've bought an app from Apple to use on their product and I can't install it because the Terms and Conditions doesn't accept anything.   Surely they can fix this?

Limiting radio interference when listening to iPhone in the car

I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this semi-problem. I have a 2001 Jeep Cherokee LImited - with both a cd and tape player. I used a cassette adapater with my former iPod- worked fine. I recently purchased an iPhone and the Belkin iPhone Headphone Adapter. The adapter works fine and I can listen to the iPod feature on my iPhone. However, every once in a while I will get radio interference in my speakers.
I know I can switch to airplane mode - but that sort of defeats the purpose! Any ideas out there to get ride of the interference? Thanks!

I get this when I listen to Sirius. You can never keep the same empty station on the radio when you travel between as many cities as I do.
There is a device that was made witch basically severs the connection between the radio and the antenna on your car. The device costs about $20-$40 depending on where you get it and sales. If you have Sirius or XM you can just install that device and solve the problem for both the Sat Radio and the Belkin transmitter.
The downside to this is that you will still need to have the satelite radio turned on to stop the antenna connection.
Basically without the full length of the antenna on the car, you can only hear the loudest and clearest stations. This will leave you with hundreds of choices rather than 2 or 3.
I do not know if they make a similar device with a switch rather than relying on the satelite signal, but it could be worth a check.

Hello I just bought a car VW scirocco and I can't pair the iPhone with the car as the car says that the phone is not compatible so what can I do ?

You must change or bluetooth module to a more recent one. It's under the passanger seat.
I use this one: 5N0 035 730D. It works great on with the iPhone. You can even play musics from the iphone to the radio (on RCD 510 or RNS 510) wirelessly, using BT-Audio.
I think you can buy it on ebay. It's relatively cheap.
BTW, is your board computer red or white? If it's red there is no bluetooth module comptible with your car and the iPhone. It must be white.

IPhone and the Car

Has anyone figured out where the iPhone fits in the car? I have an IPod in my glovebox, connected to the car COMAND system with an iPod Kit. I can select tracks from the instrument display of the car. I also have my current GSM phone in a cradle, also connected to the COMAND system. When the iPhone becomes available in Europe, I hope to buy one, but how do I integrate it to my car? I do not want or intend to use a Bluetooth headset nor do I want to change the car!

Sounds like the Mercedes Benz system is rather proprietary, so I won't try to interpret these reports I found while searching the iPhone forums.

Playing my iPhone through the car stereo

I am looking for a new car stereo and the biggest feature I want is to be able to play music off of my iPhone on it. Almost every model I've looked at says it plays wma/mp3/aac. Most of my music files are mp3s, but the last few CDs I ripped in .m4a (Apple loseless). After researching it, I kind of have the impression that m4as are converted to aac, and will be played, but cannot for the life of me find a place that definitively says this. Can anyone help me out?

Not sure if this info is necessary, but some players connect to the iPhone through the headphone jack, some through USB, and most can do either.

Listen to my iphone on the car

does any one knows what I can use to listen to my iphone on my car? is there something designed for the iphone already or do I have to use the ipod stuff?

The Kennsington 33185 is fantastic. It is a FM transmiter that is made for Ipods. When you plug in an Iphone a screen comes up saying it doesn't work but you click cancel and it works like a dream with incredible sound as well as charging your phone. If a call comes in the music mutes and the phone rings. There is enough cord to pick up and answer the call. If you go to radio schack and buy the RF shield device for $6 you won't get any interference when the cell changes. Works great.

Integrating the iPhone with the car

I have been wondering what I could do to integrate my iPhone with my car's custom stereo.
Could a cable like this: http://www.wirelesshut.com/0/10424871.html work properly? Both ends would fit into their respective ports and such, but with the iPhone sometimes giving error messages such as 'You can't use such and such product with the iPhone', I would like to know before hand if this feat is possible.
Any body have any prior experience?

im assuming you dont have factory installed stereo equipment....

i bought an alpine system w/bluetooth & ipod capabilities last year, got the phone recently and was told that the bluetooth will not work with the iphone, but the ipod function will work, but if i use it as an ipod and its connected to my car's system, the phone function wont work

Need help Using iphone5 with Bluetooth in 2006 Volvo xc90. I have paired my phone and can make calls. I want to play music on my iPhone using the car's sounds system.

2/3 or what you'll use the iPhone with will give you the optimized message. Just ignore it. If the battery looks like it's charging, it's charging. When I plug into my Acura TL I get that message, the battery charges, and everything works just like it should including my Phone with calls. No damage will be done to your phone.

Anyone having trouble with this phone and their in car bluetooth? Calls dropping not recognizing the device. Had the car bluetooth reset at dealer. They said it is a common problem with the iPhone?

Bluetooth in car is not recognizing my device and when it does it will only stay connected about 5 minutes. Blue tooth has been reset at the dealer. They said it is very common with the iPhone? The car is a 2014 Toyota Highlander. This is very very frustrating as I have a 45 minute commute to work and do not want to have to hold my phone.... Thank you for any help.

Wow you would think the newer car is just an updated version of what your husbands has.
I wonder if your husbands car was updated to the same connect system if his would not connect?
Does your husbands phone work because he does not have the new iOS from Apple?

My iphone randomly shut off. I left it in the car for less than two minutes and went to grab it and it was off. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't.

Someone told me to hold down the home button and the lock button down for 10 seconds but my lock button does not work. I didnt drop it didn't get it wet it just stopped working. It was fully charged when this happened. I don't know what to do. i plugged it in and it was still a black screen, Help me please!

Dear Ashley - Y'day, I had the same problem. Before shutting off the phone vibrated for a minute or two and then the phone stopped working. I tried restart, charge all through y'day but it did not work. However, I left the phone without charging over night and tried today morning - luckily, it started and prompted me to upgrade to 5.1.1, which I did. I too have posted a question for help if there is some bug to fix. Hope your phone will also work again. All the best.

Iphone and integrated car stereo

I have several apps on my phone that have an Ipod button for controlling the music while playing the stereo in the car. Before the last update I could have the GPS or other similar program running on my Iphone, but could also navigate to my Itunes and select the music/playlists, etc.. Since the last update, I can still navigate to my songs, but I cannot select the artist or playlist while the Iphone is plugged into the car stereo. If I remove the Iphone from the car jack I can navigate the songs fine.

I don't know if the you haver the same radio as my 08 Maxima but if you go to your local Nissan dealer you can get the iPod interface installed. Interface System for iPod® is not available for HYBRID models or models with factory navigation system. Or your radio should have the AUX jack that is in between the "Clock" and the "Scan" button and should say "AUX IN" if you have that then all you need is a 3.5MM wire (3.5mm to 3.5mm cable) example

I left my iphone in the sun by accident when i went to the beach yesterday. when i tried to turn it on the apple logo appeared then it dissolved and hasn't turned on since. im freaking out! help!?

I had this problem, too. I left my iPhone in the car for an hour and it got too hot. Got the yellow triangle on my screen warning that the temperature was too high. The phone was dead. So, I let the phone cool down for a couple of hours, then I plugged it into my MacBook Pro and held down the iPhone's power button and home button together for 20 seconds, and fixed the problem. Hooray!
